Into The Wild

Chapter 7: All For Nothing

Chapter 7

Rosario peeked around at the house everything was quiet. Too

quiet walking across the lawn she opened the door. With ease the house was

incredibly quiet. Looking around Rosario walked across the wooden floors to the

parlor. Expecting to see her parents. Yet there was nothing.

Room by room Rosario searched, no monsters, no demons no

ghosts. What was this? Where was her family? Running down corridors swinging

open doors. Thundering across the attic finding no atrocious monster child. Burned

to death.

They were all gone pulling out her phone Rosario kept trying

to call someone yet couldn't press the numbers.

Everything echoed the silence echoed back.

Jolting awake Rosario groaned staring up at the wooden small

table, a tray centered with wooden cups. Blinking awake the scent of herbs and

flower petals. The large dark room was comfortable and cool. Pushing off a

thick blanket Rosario blinked around.

She was alone. It was just a dream.turning her attention to a tray with a pitcher of water and a small glass someone was thoughtful, it had to be Yukina, she was so beautiful her souls bright and filled with love.

Pouring herself a drink Rosario's cold fingers wrapped around the cup, pulling the rim of the glass to her lips, Taking a sip Rosario felt the quenceh of thirst erupts in her throat

as her hands clasped around the cup drinking the entire pot. Sweet delicious

nectar swirling like mana.

Seeking the bathroom Rosario found it with ease.

stripping down climbing into cold water to wash away the sleep

it was lovely.

The dojo was quiet wondering is everyone was out people seemed to disappear. Rosie opened the door

to the outside. The wind shifted around blowing gently. Quiet feet slid across

the floor, moving into a pose Rosario

leapt into the air, twilling on her toes. 15 years of Ballet made her light. A

graceful pirouette Rosario twirled into the air when Long red hair emerged from

no wher

When his large torso faced Rosario, Rose blinked memories of their time spent together flooded her mind, that same sweet warm rose stench filled her senses. Rosario

remembered their conversation

{Last Night}

Shuichi sat Beside the Spanish flower slowly releasing

smoke. Causing the young woman to smile with glee at his resolve.

"Well remind me to never fuck with your ego."

"Rosario has the mouth of a grange disposal."

"Gutter disposal."

Shuichi shook his head in disapproval as she smiled. Sighing content they shared the bong.

"So what is the big bad secret?"

Red lashes blinked wildly utterly confused. What secret? Did she mean his secret?

Did Rosario want to know all about the fox?

"I can see it on your face, there's something you're not

telling me. It's the same look my parents gave us when they were fighting.

Silent screaming in empty spaces."

"The demon is far more powerful than we knew. He feeds on

his victims bodies slowly, leeching their life force. For decades. There is a

woman trapped within the home. The Soul Eater may want Rosario next."

Rosario blinked confused. What was a soul Eater?

"Soul eater?"

Kurama smiled as he explained the world of specters and spirits. Ghouls and demons

"When demons want to gain power, the easiest way is to consume human souls. The best way is to find a stain."

"A Stain?"

"An event so dark it stains the ground with energy. Demons use human tragedy to manifest. The battle of Gettysburg is a magnet for all things Vicious and Begnine. An act so evil the earth is stained with negative energy. Once a demon consumes that energy they can gain power."

The sudden head buzzing across her temple was too confusing. This was too much thought for her state of mind.

"My head hurts."

Shuichi smiled as her finger tips massaged her temple and scalp. In back and fourth motions

"Rest, I can explain tomorrow."

"I can't sleep."

Shuichi led Rosario to a bedroom, bowing he knew she must be exhausted. The day was aweful. Too much for one to bare alone. Rosario had experienced more pain and death than anyone person should.

"Really Red I can't sleep. I haven't been able to since my brother died. I don't feel safe, everything is a threat. Everywhere I go

someone is dead or dying, death is trying to catch me and I can't let him. I

have to keep a cautious eye."

Shuichi moved the girl to face him his palms firmly on her shoulders he placed Rosario on the bed.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you."

Rose grinned punching his shoulder gently.

"Smart ass."

Shuichi sat sentient at her bedside, his energy coaxing

her into peace. Tossing and turning, sighing and adjusting until she finally

fell into uneasy sleep.

Watching over his ward he smiled small as her hair snug and right loosened with every turn. The Soul eater wanted the girl.

For what he did not know, the spirit energy within Rosario was not very strong. At least not that Kurama could sense.

The earth soon came. Crashing when Shuichi caught Rosario

with ease. Rose smiled wrapped around his shoulders. The two stood there staring at one another.

"Morning sunshine!"

Rose cheerfully said causing the red head to smile slowly as

he examined her fresh face, calm no headache or pain. The scent of tea lingers

her lips. A concoction to help the woman feel more at ease.

"Good morning Rosario."

Shuichi greeted his from arms held tight around her hips embracing the young women staring into those

gray eyes. They were bright today curious and warm full of delight

"This floor is perfect for dancing."

His green eyes looked into her stormy blues as she smiled, he

was so open, staring as if trying to decipher some puzzle. Kurama had not set

the woman down yet. Holding her firmly in place. Here in his arms she was safe, no monsters could get her.

"Do be careful."

Her eyes were less sad today, not reaching the polite smile. Long

hair danced behind her. Rosario waited and smiled.

"Are you going to set me down?"

Unable to do much Rosario waited as the red head slowly and

gently set the young woman down. Her toes rolled to the heel as she waited his

arm still wrapped around he torso. Her arms lied across his his strong ones cradled in them connected as they both

stared at each other. The smile on Rosario's face faded as she observed the

stoic red head. It was the way Kurama stared at her. She knew the look well.

Shifting her jaw forward a sour storm brewing behind blue

eyes.

"Say it."

Kurama could only blink, she knew already. She knew death. It shouldn't surprise him that she could read his face so well.

"Four victims were found in your home last night, a police

inspector, a plumber and his two sons."

Rosario sighed staring at his button shirt lost in thought,

sadness and pain washed into waves. Rosario was very strong, this pain saddened

her. Just another wave in the storm of her emotions

"What the fuck?"

She whispered trembling in sadness

"The children were six and eight."

Buckling for a single moment Rosario breather in through her

nose to stabilize herself. Shame washed through her body sinking into his

torso. Her head pressed to his chest her breath warm against his neck sent shivers down his spine

"I fucking hate that guy."

The stench of salt wafted up to Shuichi's nose.

"What's the point?"

The pain in her voice was too much for someone so beautiful and young.

"No matter what I do, I can't stop him. I can't save anyone."

Sinking further into his arms the tears stained his shirt.

"It's all for nothing."

Weakened and heartbroken The Spanish Flower wilted spirit

lashed out in pain. Shuichi Minamono frowned this was the demon's intention.

Hurting Rosario.

Silent tears rolled down pink cheeks the pain stormed across

her brows. Falling into the red heads arms Rosario sought comfort from the Handsome boy. She hadn't felt warmth in so long.

The comforting scene cast more doubt among Yusuke Urameshi and Kazuma.

He has seen the way His fox friend interacted with the young girl. For someone

who is not a girlfriend. The Fox sure treated her like a girlfriend. Shuichi was compromised, he didn't know how deep he

was falling.

Poor idiot.

Kazuma who was sitting unusually quiet had seen and felt the pain of the latest victims. He was drowning in his own sea of troubles.

Keiko Yukimora Yukina, Vina and Rosario sat with Genkai quietly

having tea. While Rosario fussed over Genkai. The tiny woman looked quite Frail

and old Rosario had bonded instantly with the old woman. Having loved her grandparents deeply before they passed naturally at the age of 80. Rosario needed to care for the old hermit.

"That's too hot."

"This old woman can feed herself long before Rosario"

Genkai relayed as she ate the curry, suddenly turning bright

pink Genkai exhaled smoke from her mouth. The sauce was quite Spicy.

Genkai took the glass of soy milk bowing once, she knew

better than to place her foot in her mouth again.

"Is it just us?"

"The boys have left to deal with the demon."

Rosario blinked confused. Was there another demon? Another monster hurting people? Shuichi didn't say anything.

"There's another demon?"

"The one in your home."

The silence was loud as Rosario understood the implications

"What!?"

Jumping up Rosario gathered her bags as the women in shock

"That red haired jackass! He didn't tell me anything!"

"He probably wanted to keep you safe."

"That's not his place!"

The women were surprised by Rosario's outburst. It was clear what not telling Rosario meant. Kurama cared about her, about her safety and well being.

"Demons are dangerous, the boys can handle themselves."

"Fuck that shit! This isn't their fight it's mine! They had no right to leave me out!."

"They didn't want you to get yourself killed. It's best to

let them handle it."

"No fucking way they can't handle it."

Shotgunning for the door Rosario left the safety of the temple.

Four figures stoically faced the large mansion, brick walls

da fed in Ivy writhing with negative energy. The plants were weak. The file on

The demon was massive, he was number 3 of King Emma's most wanted demons.

It had sealed itself, using the humans shame, exploiting the

fragile nature humans carried as a magnet to his power.

Yusuke waited sensing the atmosphere it didn't take very

long for the plant life and foliage to succumb to the Yoko. They walked forward they

needed to help the human souls.

Ominously silent they walked forward entering the home

spirits in shadows and darkness. Entering the massive kitchen which was clean and not covered in food.

Alice the woman was gone. There were some pies left out to cool, inside the only souls stood the two young

men speaking in Spanish loudly. Soon Luka appeared in front of Shuichi

Minamono.

"Where is Rose?"

"Secured and distracted."

Both men sighed in relief as Luka turned to his father angrily.

The stubborn Man would not allow his daughter any pain. If she knew the truth

it would bring his princess distress.

"Thank you Shuichi."

"Rosario should be here."

"That is what the soul eater wants, it's best to keep her

safe."

"What about all of the grims outside?"

Kurama stared it was for the souls. Nearly 100 reapers

floated outside of the home. Surrounding the air they would guide those lost to

the other side.

"I'm not leaving without seeing my sister."

"Not a good idea man, your sister is violent she might hurt

herself trying to fight."

Yusuke tried to reason causing the male twin to nod.

Luka grinned his brown hair and sky blue eyes a match to

Rosario, a male and female eversion of one another.

"Yeah but she's going to kick your ass if she finds out, and

doesn't get to say goodbye."

The dead guy had a point.

"If you fools have chattered enough, let's get to killing."

Hiei scolded

"We're not killing anyone."

Hiei drew his sword as a massive figure attacked, swinging the

large weapon onto the the blade. Clashing against the slow weak demonic soul. Bored

of this already the blade slid across his torso down his hip separating then

dissolving into mystic purple and green orange energy. Flooding into the

kitchenette were swarms of demonic creatures.

Pushing towards the staircase several ghosts attacked him as

his blade sliced across the waves in precision.

Hastily removing the souls from the demonic aura. A blessing

was tempered into the sword. I rounding a corner a baseball flew past Hiei's

nose embedding into the wall deeply.

Red pomegranate eyes glared forward seeing a handsome Korean

man. As handsome as the picture in his file.

Inuosho Jin' re.

Male

17

Baseball prodigy

Level 9 apparition

Suspected of killing 16 humans, on the verge of D

class demon.

Nothing Hiei couldn't handle Hiei sliced through every curve

ball. When the kid grinned. Curled brown hair and brown eyes. Sinister and evil

"Not bad, that eye is helpful, I wonder what would you do

blind?"

Narrowing his eyes a sudden pain smashed across Hiei's

temple, right into the Jagon. Disorienting the demon.

Fury washed over Hiei as he attacked beating the demonic

enemy into a bloody pulp. Lying on the ground Hiei wondered forward. No one was

around. Opening a door Hiei fell into the attic space. He was here last with

Rosie. When the little girls manisfted from no where. Their energy could heal the Jagon.

"Are you ok?"

"It's bleeding!"

blood riveted across Hiei's face the burned girls

cleaned the fire demon up. The weeping mother holding the small boy in her

arms. This soul eater had convincingly turned the mother into a murderer. The

woman just weeps in her afterlife.

Urge two girls looked at one another their burned faces red

and charred. Combing their hands they placed their palm on the Jagon healing

the eye slowly.

Silence was in their little corner while the demon healed.

The mind splitting headache awoke Hiei as he looked at the

little girls who were dozing off beside him. Holding his hands. Shifting

stirred the young ladies from their doze as they began fretting

"Please be careful."

The constant moaning and sobbing in the background began to

annoy Hiei

"Shut the hell up!"

Gasping in shock the dead spirit stared through one eye at

the demon.

"Mommy always cries."

The indifference in the two small girls was mature. They had

clearly come to terms with their predicament.

"Allowing another to hold oneself in place, not taking

responsibility for your own actions locks a soul in place."

The woman just stared at the fire demon, the two young souls

flew into the wall and began burning, screaming in agony the mother watched in

horror.

Nailed to the wall and burned alive. The shock of her own

actions awakened the protective beast with in as she looked at the baseball

player and screamed. Running into his energy and absorbing the man. The fire

died away as the charred remains of the girls hung across the wall.

The mother dropped down crying and sobbing begging

forgiveness. Shame and regret. Little hands grasped the woman's chest

"It's ok mommy. We forgive you."

Glowing in white light the spirits faded away. in the attic, suddenly alone Hiei glanced around they empty space, the

shelving and couch gone. All wiped away as if never existed. Against a corner

sat a charred and burned pile of furniture. The woman's guilt subsided.

The room was back to normal. Just a room. Hiei needed to

heal, the Jagon ached sharply. The sour pain Yusuke's massive energy imploded

from the garden grounds.

The fight was not over.
