The Messenger in Flame
I was early to class, sitting in the back row browsing for materials while waiting for class to start. I have the rough sketch for my Thunder Claw so I only need the materials.
I probably could pull something from the future that looks like what I want, even modifying it to fit my taste. But that goes against the spirit of creation.
It won't be creation if I don't make it myself instead of pulling something out from the infinite future and past.
I had figured out what alloy I needed to use to make the harpoons, chainsaw teeth, and claws. There is only one more problem left.
I need an energy source. Obviously, it has to be small and compact for ease of movement. I can't use magic because the World hates me...
If only I have an infinite energy source...
Wait...
Couldn't I just make a really powerful generator and use Justice Mist to generate electricity?!
My eyes gleamed with sparkles in them. I am a fucking genius!!
Oh, class is about to start. My friends aren't in this class... well, not entirely so.
I see Clementine walk in... why are there flowers floating around her?
~Shalala~
What was that noise?
She went over to me, wearing what essentially is an equestrian outfit.
"Princess! I did not think you would be in the same class as me! I am sooo happy!!", she smiled brightly like a shining star. Her blonde hair is actually glowing for some reason.
"Can I sit next to you?", she timidly asked.
"Sure you can.", I nodded.
"Thank you!", she sat down on my right side, taking out her pencil case and a few notebooks... they are glowing too, what the fuck?
Hm? Asteral sat down at the corner desk to my left, looking out of the window with an aloof aura. His hair floats in the air... gravity manipulation is cool.
After the students had chosen their seats, the teacher walked in... Amelia Wosteria.
"Greetings, class.", she spoke in a low and strict voice, "I am Amelia Wosteria, I will be your teacher in Human Study."
Her cold gaze shut everyone up. I just smile, interested in what she could do. She was the first woman I met, after all, someone I feel close to yet not at all...
Reverie?
Hm~ strange... in the Library of Akasha, there is absolutely nothing here about Amelia Wosteria! Damn! But~ you can ask her yourself~!
"This first class will be about introducing you all to the Human Study Course.", her eyes scan around the room, stopping at me for a bit then move on, "All of you will be learning about but not limited to, communication, understanding, and psychology. Over the course of two months, I hope you all can understand your fellow humans better."
Wow, she feels really strict. Not a single person spoke up... huh, kinda like dealing with me.
"Now, as I already know all of your names and faces. We don't need introduction for some of you.", she stared at me for a solid second, "First, I want you all to form a group of three to five people."
She sat down on her chair, crossed her arms, and stared intensely at the whole class. No one was trying anything...
So... this will be the first time I ever perform service to others. I sighed.
"Clementine, Asteral, you two be in my group.", I spoke, breaking the silence— oh, there is a sale on micromotors, nice. At to cart~
"Huh? A-Are you sure...?", Clementine blushed, holding her face while squirming around. Cute.
"If you say so.", Asteral casually replied, nodding.
"What?! You aren't excited?!", Clementine stares at him as if he just committed the most heinous heresy, "She is the coolest person in the whole academy!! Who invited a dragon for her talent show!!"
Is a Leviathan a Dragon? Selen can use Dragon Tongue... whatever it is. Reverie, redeem yourself.
I didn't do anything wrong though~ anyway~! Dragon Tongue is a way Dragon used to communicate with the World itself! Unlike the Heavenly Edict, which can only fulfill certain things, a request by a dragon always comes out better~!! They are the Guardians of the World after all! With the Faefolks as the Gardener!!
Looking at how polluted the world is, I say they are doing a pretty bad job.
"Princess! Please tell him something!! He don't respect you at all!!", Clementine pouts, puffing her cheeks up.
"His aloofness doesn't bother me at all.", I stated plainly, "When you stand on top of the world, everything feels the same."
The problem with being at the top is that all are equal under me... except for Seria... and Nyarla... and Shemiss Aluqdim... and maybe even Hoa...
That's a lot more people than I thought.
"It seems like we had our first group.", Amelia took our attention away for herself.
She walked over to the back, still crossing her arms to support her breasts...
Euphoria, how is the progress?
Slow and steady, my dear.
"Charlotte, Clementine, and Asteral. Your first task is to learn one thing about each other, it could be anything. Like favorite food, dislikes, your deepest, darkest secret. Anything.", she gave us one last intense glance and left for another group.
"I will go first!", Clementine cheerful laughed, "I am Clementine Valentino, nice to meet you two! I would like you two to know that I am a vegan!"
That was a lie. I won't press forward, it's ultimately too insignificant.
"I have tattoos of the Compass Rose on my shoulders.", I rolled up my sleeves, showing the tattoos to them.
"That's pretty cool!", Clementine smiled, observing the pattern on my shoulder. Asteral also nodded in agreement.
"Then what about you, pretty boy?", she turned to Asteral, looking at him with a challenging gaze.
"I am pretty good with spicy food.", he plainly said.
Hmm, that's quite boring for someone who can manipulate gravity.
Clementine raised her hand, "Miss Wosteria!! We are done here! We learned something about each other!"
Amelia looks over towards us, "Until the end of the course, your group will stay the same. This Course is all about understanding your fellow human. But human is hard to understand, not even a person can understand themselves even if they are immortal."
Sounds as if she spoke from experience.
"After 30 minutes when everyone gets to know each person in their group better, I will call you to the other room for personal discussion.", she tapped her foot, "So until I call you, feel free to talk to each other."
"First off, Armillys. Follow me.", she called a girl up first... oh damn, she's the girl carrying the Relic on her shoulder at orientation day.
Hm? She suddenly just glared at me with jade-like eyes, she huffed and flicked her emerald green hair back before going out of the class with Amelia.
"What's up with her?", Clementine frowned.
Armillys' expression was... disappointment. She wanted to fight me but wasn't able to. That's what I got from reading her emotions.
Unfortunately for her, this place isn't where people fight each other to the death. This is an academy where people stay to learn to control their power.
Then again, humanity shines the best in conflicts. For those who thirst for war, they will only shine brighter. Like me, I live for conflict, nothing boils my blood more than getting into a heated battle to the death.
"Just ignore her.", I calmed Clementine down.
"Hmph...", she crossed her arms.
We continued to chat, with Clementine telling me about all the things she did when she was a kid, and how she became a vegan. Interesting, even if it was all lies. While Asteral just gives vague answers or just nods.
It was certainly fun.
A few people were called after Armillys, all returned with either a sullen expression, relief, or just happy to get something off their chest.
Amelia went into the room again, "Charlotte, you are next."
"Goodbye for now.", I said to both of them.
"See you later, Princess!!", Clementine waved at me.
"See you.", Asteral nodded.
I turned off my laptop and followed Amelia.
"So, what is your deal?", I asked her.
"I am just a teacher here, it's my current mission. And I just want to understand people, nothing less, nothing more.", she answered with a plain tone.
We entered the empty room next to the classroom, with only two tables and two chairs, facing each other.
"Sit down with me, Charlotte. I am sure you have a lot of questions to ask.", she welcomed me with a faint smile, trying her hardest to act... normal.
I listen to her, sitting down first before her.
"Who are you... or more specifically... What are you?", I get straight to the point. Someone whose record doesn't exist in the Library...
In response, she suddenly unbuttoned her plain white shirt. Showing me a... pulsating red circle gem...
"I am Amelia Wosteria, I am not from this planet. But I am not from beyond the Oort Cloud.", she tapped her nail on the table one time.
Shemiss Aluqdim mentioned Earth was one of the four planets they granted life to... then again, the Angels are native to Earth on a technical standpoint. Could she be an Angel? No... I would feel that holy aura.
I continue to stare at Amelia without saying a word, prompting her to continue.
"I came from the first planet in our system, Mercury..."
Mercury, huh... the planet closest to the sun... then... is she—
"You could say I am similar to you, Charlotte.", she smiled, "Though I think I am beyond you, being that... I am the Records of Mercury."
Her brown eyes express an ethereal glow, turning into a gray color with a hint of red around her irises.
"The Messenger in Flame, The Last Daughter of Mercury."
