Chapter 14: Chapter 14! End, Mansion Incident
"Hey, Jill, slow down." Shen Ye called out.
It wasn't that he wasn't man enough, but Jill's shoulder was pressing against his wound.
"Jill, you should eat more; your bones are too bony." Shen Ye called out again.
"Are you complimenting me on being lightweight?"
Hearing the man's complaints, Jill didn't feel offended; instead, she was a little secretly pleased, at least she knew Shen Ye could still hold on.
However, Jill still changed her posture. She supported Shen Ye's armpit with one hand and his inner knee with the other, trying her best to make him more comfortable.
Lying in Jill's arms, Shen Ye marveled at Jill's surprising strength. He winked at Jill: "A princess carry! Too bad I'm not a princess, and you're not a knight."
"Women can be knights too." Jill glared at him crossly; even in this situation, he still had the mood to joke.
Shen Ye chuckled and didn't reply because he was in too much pain.
With Chris's cover, Jill, carrying Shen Ye, smoothly found a safe spot. She swept a flat area with her foot, gently lowered him, and then began to treat his injury.
However, Shen Ye's wound was on his chest; a sharp piece of metal was deeply embedded, with only a small part exposed.
Jill immediately frowned. She tried to pull it out, but the metal piece didn't budge, and it made Shen Ye break out in a cold sweat. She had no choice but to tear open the medical kit and stuff hemostatic cotton into Shen Ye's wound, trying to slow down the bleeding as much as possible.
But this action almost killed Shen Ye. He groaned in pain, "Can't you give me a painkiller shot first? Adrenaline would work too!"
"I'm sorry, I don't have any of the things you mentioned. They're all with the team medic."
"Then call your team medic over."
"I don't know where Rebecca is. I really hope she's okay." Jill glanced at Chris, who was still bombing the Tyrant, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes.
Besides worrying about Rebecca, there was also Enrico, who had lost contact.
…
On Chris's side, the battle was nearing its end. The Tyrant, hit by more than a dozen grenades, was covered in wounds, and even movement became a problem.
As the last grenade accurately hit its exposed heart, this behemoth finally couldn't resist, let out a roar, and collapsed with a crash.
Chris breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that he hadn't used the grenade launcher indiscriminately after picking it up on the mansion's second-floor balcony; otherwise, he really wouldn't have been able to deal with this big guy.
Dropping the empty grenade launcher, he called out from outside the laboratory.
"Rebecca, come in quickly, someone is injured here."
Outside the door, a small head poked in. It was the blonde girl, Rebecca. As the youngest member of the team and the medic, she received everyone's care.
Seeing the injured Shen Ye, Rebecca ran in, and after she entered, another person came in from outside the laboratory. It was Enrico, who had lost contact with Jill and the others.
Seeing Enrico alive, Jill's last trace of unease finally disappeared. She waved at Enrico, then watched Rebecca treat Shen Ye's wound.
Since Shen Ye was sweating profusely from the pain, Rebecca first gave him a painkiller shot before examining his injuries.
"How is it? Can you get it out?" Jill asked her.
Rebecca frowned slightly, not responding, only pressing around Shen Ye's wound with her hand. Then she relaxed her brows, took out a pair of tweezers from her portable medical toolbox, slowly inserted them into Shen Ye's wound, and with a strong pry, the metal piece popped out.
"You're lucky; the metal piece was stuck on your rib." Rebecca said thankfully, then took out a needle and thread to stitch up Shen Ye's wound.
"Professional matters still need to be handled by professionals!"
The process of stitching the wound was naturally unbearable to watch. Even if Shen Ye wasn't afraid of blood, he couldn't stand a needle going in and out of his body. He could only talk to distract himself.
"Are you complimenting me?" Rebecca blinked and asked.
"Of course." Shen Ye originally wanted to nod to add emphasis, but lying down, he couldn't make that movement, so he just raised his hand and waved it forcefully.
"Thank you." Rebecca smiled happily; she was indeed a simple girl.
By the time Shen Ye's wound was stitched up, Chris came over carrying Barry, asking Rebecca to check him.
"He just fainted; he's not injured." Rebecca did a quick check and told Chris.
Chris nodded, then glanced at Shen Ye, wondering who he was to Jill, after all, Jill's desperate efforts to save Shen Ye had surprised him greatly; their relationship must be unusual.
Just as he couldn't resist and was about to ask, the unconscious Barry woke up, so he had to give up for now.
Upon waking, Barry's first sight was Jill standing beside him. A strong sense of guilt made him unable to look Jill in the eyes.
"I'm sorry, Jill." Barry apologized again.
Jill shook her head: "I told you, it's all Wesker's fault."
When Wesker's name was mentioned, she seemed to suddenly remember something and quickly ran to where Wesker had fallen, then said with a look of disbelief, "How is this possible?"
Chris, who had followed, asked curiously, "Jill, what's wrong?"
Jill said with difficulty, "Wesker's body… is gone."
…
Regarding Wesker's body disappearing into thin air, the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members were somewhat incredulous, but Shen Ye was not surprised. He knew that Wesker had injected himself with the virus William gave him before they arrived. He hadn't truly died and had revived.
It was just a bit different from the game; in the game, Wesker revived shortly after Jill and the others left, but now…
"The plot has changed." Shen Ye sighed slightly, no longer thinking deeply about it.
The disappearance of Wesker's body didn't bother everyone for long, because they still had a very important thing to do… which was to leave here.
Since they still couldn't contact the helicopter pilot Brad, they discussed for a while and decided to return to the mansion first, then walk back to Raccoon City.
On the way back to the mansion, Jill was helping Shen Ye, supporting him. This was her strong request.
Chris looked at Shen Ye deeply again.
"There's definitely a story between them."
After thinking for a moment, he whispered to Deputy Captain Enrico, whom he was helping, "Who do you think he is? Or rather, who is he to Jill?"
Enrico shook his head: "I'm not very clear, I only know that he and Jill have only known each other for one day."
"Only one day." Chris was a little surprised. He said with some emotion, "I thought they knew each other before. Look at Jill's behavior; it's hard to imagine that she would be so gentle to a man."
"Yes, it's unbelievable." Enrico also sighed.
As they spoke, the group had already left the Underground Research Institute. During this time, Chris also took the opportunity to activate the self-destruct device in the power room, eliminating the remaining monsters while preventing the virus from spreading.
"Brad calling Alpha Team, please respond if you hear me."
As soon as they returned to the surface, Jill's walkie-talkie rang with the voice of Alpha Team's helicopter pilot, Brad.
Hearing the voice, Jill grabbed the walkie-talkie and instinctively wanted to call Brad a coward, but she quickly realized that such a situation was very inappropriate, so she responded with a frown.
The subsequent plot was the same as in the game; Brad would fly the helicopter to the mansion rooftop to pick them up.
…
On the rooftop, Chris fired a flare into the sky, then pulled open a smoke grenade to guide the helicopter's landing position.
Just as the group was waiting for the helicopter to arrive, they suddenly felt a violent tremor under their feet.
Then, they saw the rooftop floor explode, creating a large hole, and then a huge figure leaped out of the hole.
It was Tyrant T002; it had revived again.
The revived Tyrant looked even more berserk; its entire body was abnormally red, giving it an extreme deterrent. It roared furiously at everyone, then charged towards Chris, who was closest to it.
Chris hurriedly shot at it, but at this point, the Tyrant had already completed its evolution, becoming a Super Tyrant. Its hitting power had increased by a whole level, and ordinary firearms simply couldn't stop it.
Seeing this, the others also opened fire on the Tyrant, but even Barry's powerful Magnum pistol could only leave shallow bullet craters on its body.
Enduring everyone's gunfire, the Tyrant forced its way in front of Chris and slapped him.
After evolving into a Super Tyrant, T002's speed almost doubled. Chris didn't even have time to dodge before he was sent flying, but he was indeed the strongest male protagonist in the Resident Evil series; after rolling a few times on the ground, he surprisingly stood up as if nothing had happened.
"This is absolutely ridiculous!" Shen Ye's eyes widened. He felt that Chris was more worth studying than the Tyrant, but now was clearly not the time to think about that. He immediately shouted, "Don't fight it head-on, run! Ordinary weapons are no longer effective against it."
But the balcony was only so big; where else could they run? They could only maneuver around the Tyrant in the limited space.
Fortunately, the lucky goddess had not abandoned them; Brad's helicopter arrived in time.
Although this helicopter was not equipped with any support weapons, a rocket launcher was thrown down from it, which was the most powerful weapon the Raccoon City Police Department could approve.
Shen Ye, quick-witted, endured his physical discomfort and picked up the rocket launcher. He skillfully disengaged the safety and aimed the rocket launcher at the Tyrant in the most standard kneeling firing position.
"Goodbye, baby. I wish you become a Tracker in your next life." Shen Ye muttered, then pulled the trigger.
Boom!
After a loud explosion, the Tyrant was blown into pieces.
This existence, even praised by Wesker, ultimately could not withstand the firing of modern heavy firepower weapons.
"Finally… it's over."
Shen Ye threw away the rocket launcher and slumped to the ground. After the tightly strung bowstring was released, endless fatigue followed.
At this moment, a ray of sunlight happened to fall on his face. It was the morning sun. After a night of fighting, they finally welcomed the dawn.
Jill walked to Shen Ye's side, gently helped him up, letting him lean against her, and together they looked at the rising sun in the distance.
…
As the helicopter slowly ascended and flew towards Raccoon City, the mansion underwent a violent explosion, turning into ruins in the endless flames.
Inside the cabin, Shen Ye rested his head on Jill's lap and slowly fell asleep amidst the system's prompts:
