Chapter 1018: The new inhabitants
"If they can do that much… how can they ever be defeated?" Rain thought.
If the dragons also absorbed the essence and information on the bodies left by everyong they killed, possibily by devouring them, they probably had infinite potential… their power doesn't come only from their bodies being able to amass insane ammounts of mana, but because they also had that kind of trait…
The most recent dragons didn't have that kind of power, so it wasn't an ability that could be passed down… or perhaps they didn't have any connection with the old dragons. Rain wondered if those memories would help him confirming that or not.
A long time passed once more without nothing happened… then all of a sudden, Zeus noticed some changes taking place in the world. The whole planet trembled for several days straight and he thougth that the planet was trying to revive itself, but nothing of the sort happened… instead all the mana hidden within the depths of planet began to emerge.
The particles of mana emerged from the depths of the planet, like a mesmerizing dance of glowing energy rising to the surface. Zeus and Rain could see the vibrant mana particles gracefully ascended, forming intricate patterns in the sky. The source of this energy remained a mystery, challenging their understanding of the world's fundamental principles.
The notion that such a potent source of energy existed within the planet contradicted conventional wisdom. Both of them questioned how this reservoir of mana could have remained hidden for so long. It defied the laws of nature as they understood them.
As the mana particles continued their ascent, a profound transformation unfolded. The mana began to transform, creating a radiant barrier that enveloped the entire planet. The barrier, pulsating with ethereal energy, seemed to breathe new life into the desolate world. But this was only the beginning.
The mana barrier took on a tangible form, assuming the appearance of the old world, it looked dead and desolae. It stretched across the sky, separating the two layers of existence. The spectacle was interesting and confusing, and it captivated them thanks to the design and the magical energy radiating from the barrier.
Over many years, the barrier extend until it covered the whole world, from that point onward, it began to grow, as if it was absorbing more mana from somewhere else… Rain knew that only living things could produce mana since it was the power of the spirit, so he could only assume that something alive was up there… unfortunately, Zeus had a hard time crossing the barrier and investigating it.
He only was able to make up his mind when the barrier was almost complete and ended up crossing it before the barrier was complete.
Thanks to that, he was able to see new lifeforms emerging in that layer… they were barely visible, but they began to evolve fast thanks to the power of mana that they wielded. At first, they started as microorganisms, but eventually they evolved and became insects such as ants.
"It was the overseer… he caused all of this," Rain thought.
Zeus was unable to get information from outside when the barrier was completed, and using more mana to investigate it would decrease his functional time… but he could tell that the overseer was preparing to make life flourish again on the world, and he had to help with that.
After considering his options for many years, Zeus reached an hypothesis… mana shouldn't have existed in the world before, but some humans should have obtained it before they died, naturally, humans aside from his friends.
The actions of the first dragons made that sort of energy exist in the world… perhaps using that as a basis, the overseer used the fallen souls to start the beginning of the new world… using their spirits as fuel and foundation.
"He knew that it had a limit of how much he could do that… so he decided to create new lifeforms able to use mana and they would multiply it the more they lived," Rain thought.
It was insane… Rain was truly learning how the new world came to be… even though he basically created a small planet thanks to everyone's mana, he couldn't do something like starting a new generation of life on the new world… the overseer was truly an entity beyond human understanding.
Still, Zeus realized that the overseer might not have the desire to restore the humans… the reasons for that could be numerous, how they changed their environment, how they not worked together and would often be influenced by the power of the sins, or similar things. All in all, they had pretty much the same potential to harness the same power.
Given enough time, they could become another intergalactic species that could threaten others…
While he had given up on his body, Zeus couldn't abandon his humanity fully… and he wished that humans would be able to have their revenge and restore their world with their own hands. With that in mind, he began to work on his longest project… using all the data that he had acquired, he began to work on separating and cataloguing all the data of all the humans he had met.
Reviving them was impossible since their souls were being used to build the new world, but they could become part of the new species of the world…
"Seriously? This retard created the new species of the world?" Rain asked.
The process was soon started and confirmed… although he had limited resources, Zeus had nearly unlimited data and after staying inside his relic for so long, he had a few screw looses as well. He began to mix all the data of all the humans that he had catalogued and mixed them as well with the data of his friends.
He basically wrote down spells to create new humans… and when combining them with the data of his friends that obtained those powers, he created the blueprint to create the seafolk, magic people, beast people, and the demi humans as well.
