Chapter 2: Direct Upgrade… Infinite Skills…
"Ah, Good morning, Mr. Adams."
"Good morning, Ms. Elizabeth. What did you prepare today? I can smell something delicious."
"Oh, how come I never noticed that you have a sweet mouth? Just your normal honey buns with some barley porridge."
"What's not delicious about these? Where are Master and Melissa?"
"Oh, those two went to see the miners…"
Xavier Adams looked at the not-so-short, not-so-tall middle-aged dwarf in front of him and a fondness came to his eyes.
Her humming brightened the rather dull room and managed to calm him further.
Such a simple life… maybe this is what he should seek.
"Hey, Xavier Adams! Are you listening? Bernard said that he would be teaching you how to forge a sword next."
"Oh, that's great. I am sure you've also run out of space for all my failed… products."
"Hahaha, don't talk like that. You should have seen Maria when she was practicing. Pity, she went and fell for a miner. *sigh*"
"…"
This… NPCs here are quite something…
A blacksmith holds more prestige than a miner, but in Xavier Adams's eyes, it is like comparing plumbers and electricians.
Not to mention their fields of expertise are different, you can't do without the other.
Maria is Elizabeth's eldest daughter and was quite talented and showed promise for the craft. And man did Bernard train her into a proper prodigy.
But here came along a dwarf miner who swept her off her feet and took her as his wife.
This alone is enough for the couple to hold some extreme opinions. Let alone the fact that miners are seen as inferior to blacksmiths.
Well, that's society for you.
"Thanks for the wonderful breakfast. I'll be in the workshop if you need me for something."
"Don't be so polite."
…
Like every other novice starter village out there, Blackrock Village was quite peaceful and all that the people here had to look out for was some small monsters.
Life was peaceful here. One might say it is too peaceful even.
Without players, even the economy here is just…
Being a village that shares borders with the Black Forest to the north and the Endless Rock ranges to the west, Blackrock village was even more so.
But this did not affect Xavier Adams in the least.
The Black Forest might be quite dangerous, but it is also ripe with herbs and medicines that are rarely found anywhere else.
Legends have it that in the depths of the forest lies the Demon Lord's castle that was sealed away by a Great Dragon.
Just this legend will produce quite a number of rare quests and legendary jobs.
As for the Endless Rock Ranges, they had no particular purpose except to house some dragon nests and a natural wall that separates the Altahaugr Empire and the other western nations.
But Xavier Adams did not care so much about politics at the moment.
In his eyes, the Endless Rock Range is a perfect source for metal and mineral raw materials.
Such a perfect place was just right for his goals.
Xavier Adams made his way to the workshop and was welcomed by the melodious strikes of metal against metal.
The scorching heat coming from the furnaces mixed with the burnt smell in the air made him relax even further.
He did not greet others. He would be pretty annoyed if someone interrupted his practice for a morning greeting, so…
Xavier Adams made his way to his station and found his tools just as he left them.
The heavy hammer resting on the anvil seemed to call out to him.
He did not resist and took an iron ingot and started hammering away.
No need for heating. The iron will get hot on its own if hammered enough.
Plus…
*Ding*

…
"At least that confirms things."
Xavier Adams looked at the simple steel knife in his hand and felt a little frustrated.
He obviously only started with some low-grade iron ingot but he somehow managed to casually forge a rare item.
Xavier Adams wielded the knife and casually sliced through the anvil that was near collapse.
"Damn, now I'll have to struggle with holding back. I should look for a limiter skill asap."
Xavier Adams waved his hand and collected all the evidence before restoring the scene.
His newly acquired skills enabled him to do quite a number of things.
With [Infinite Fabrication], the only thing he could not create is living organisms.
Of course, the more complex the thing he wants to fabricate, the more demanding the requirements in MP, Intelligence, his job, and even his level.
But even then, the things he can produce at level 1 are far better than most blacksmiths.
Still, this is the least important skill that he had learned.
The reason he came here was to get the [Technoscience] and [Technomagica] skills.
With these two, he can basically secure his life in the Altahaugr Empire even after the descent.
Technoscience as the name suggest enables him to make anything with scientific principles alone and directly ignore magic and other contrary factors.
With [Perfect Creation], there is no way his inventions would lose to magic.
Technomagica on the other hand enabled him to make things based on magical and supernatural concepts without regard for science and other fundamentals factors.
These two skills combined with perfect creation will make his life easier if nothing else.
I mean, it is easier to generate electricity with science than magic, but it is easier to transmit and store it with magic than science.
Combining these two will prove useful.
