Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System

Chapter 90: How EXP Works

Expecting something later down the line was all Cassius could hope for. Bemoaning something that could not be changed would only stunt progression; moving forward and… slaughtering more was the 'way'.

'Speaking of which…' Question marks appeared atop Cassius's head as he approached the Gate's exit with Stella and Yimin tagging along behind him. Ignoring the small sparks flying between them, he thought, 'Previously, I did not receive EXP from killing humans, but now I can…? What changed?'

Answering his internal question, the Idle Evolution System appeared.

*Ding~!*

[The humans you killed before were terrible humans, but they were not yet at the level of being termed monsters. After all, they mostly acted like shitheads for the money! However, the B-Rank MoonShiners were not the same...]

[With their wealth, power, and higher statuses, they could take advantage of many things that common thugs and human traffickers could not. Hence, the former humans were considered just a step away from being monsters of a different sense. The MoonShiners, on the other hand, were monsters in human skin.]

"I see…"

"You see what??" asked Yimin, her eyes brimming with unhinged curiosity. "You see food?? Or maybe…"

Shadows clouded her rosy cheeks.

"Are you seeing other women!? How could Master do this to Yimin!??"

"Ahh…"

Cassius truly couldn't comprehend how this woman always seemed to jumble his words and think whatever she wanted with them.

Sighing, he petted her head, which slightly worked to stop the tears. She even took it upon herself to grab his other hand and rub it against her cheek, though her true objective in doing this was to stop the dumb silver-bluish-haired vixen from asking for the same thing. Which Stella was doing unconsciously…

Cassius, realizing what game his pet dragon was playing at, could do… nothing much. He lightly shook his head before arriving mere feet away from the massive red portal. The portal on this side of the tunnel was red, while the other side was still a dark yellow, giving otherworlders the illusion that the Gate was only of the High Yellow Rank.

Stopping just before walking through the red vortex portal, Cassius turned to the two women who were with him on this journey. Noticing his seriousness, they hushed up and focused with rapt attention.

Pleased, he said, "When we make it to the human world, you both will need to stay incognito as we slip away from the people that are sure to be crowding out there. And this will extend beyond the short term future. Also, seeing as the two of you are like shining beacons as you are, is there any way you can morph into something else?"

"Nope, Nope, Yimin cannot do that!"

"No… Sorry…"

Cassius smiled bitterly and took two black hoodies out of his Inventory Space. He had stored them just in case he needed them, but he hadn't expected to require them so soon.

After throwing them on the two girls, he turned around and walked through the tunnel.

Yimin and Stella were right behind him, both silently competing with each other to see who could stick closer to him without touching him.

Yimin won.

"Yimin is far superior to you, a mere human," she quietly snickered, causing veins to appear on Stella's forehead.

"Isn't your 'Master' a human as well?" she asked, clearly believing herself to now have the upper hand in the conversation.

However, little did Stella realize that Yimin was—

"Master is Master! He doesn't count! Yimin doesn't like normal humans, only Master!"

—Really, really dumb. Dumbly smug per se.

'She understands that she just contradicted herself, doesn't she?' Stella thought in silence, no longer finding it worthwhile to argue with that dumbo. Rather, she found it far more enjoyable to stare at the mysterious cloaked man's back.

Every woman inherently had a certain amount of attraction to the unknown. Stella was no exception to that notion. In fact, it wasn't until meeting him that she realized just how down bad she was for strong enigmatic men.

Blushing, she shook her head and kept her eyes just outside Cassius's silhouette. 'I shouldn't be thinking things like that… He just killed all my comrades, and I'm not even sure if he's a good person or not. The way he speaks and acts would indicate that he's good, but then the image of him mercilessly slaughtering Dominic and the others pops up in my mind…'

'Someone who kills others of their kind so easily can't possibly be a good person.'

'But… Why am I unable to see him as someone evil…? I don't understand myself…'

Sometimes, good and evil are obscured by a thin veil. People on both sides of the veil might see a mix of good and evil, some might see neither, and most will either see one or the other. Whether something can be considered good or evil is always determined by the standards set by those who witness.

As one who witnessed the cruel actions of an unfathomable hooded man, it is up to Stella to determine her own subjective opinions of his moral compass. If, in the end, she decides him to be evil… she will do what she believes to be right, even if she dies because of it.

Of course, Stella hoped things wouldn't come down to that. After all, she would definitely die within an instant if she went against him. Furthermore, he was kind in a weird sort of way, he smelled nice, and they had a lot of things in common, such as the disappearance of their mothers.

Did she mention that he smelled nice yet? Well, she ought to repeat important things twice.

Oblivious to the unusual thoughts of the silverish blue-haired beauty, Cassius entered the red portal. Sticking close to his side was the feisty Yimin, with Stella just a few inches further behind.

They quickly arrived in the outside world.

Cassius, moving fast, swept Stella and Yimin into his large arms. Ignoring their contrasting emotions, he blurred like an evanescent shadow.

Not a single human saw them, as they were too busy discussing the Gate and other miscellaneous topics.

However, even though no humans saw Cassius and the two girls, it did not mean no living beings saw them…

...….
