In the United States As a Local Tyrant

Chapter 4: Going home

Hearing the number reported by the manager, James Feng almost couldn't help dancing, but thinking that this is a serious occasion, he reminded himself that he is also a person with a significant worth now, and calmness should be a must...

However, this number indeed exceeded his original expectation. He was already very satisfied if the two pink diamonds could be sold for 20 million in local currency, but he didn't expect the other party to offer US dollars instead.

In addition to the two pink diamonds to be auctioned, James also agreed to send the other six diamonds to the United States for exhibition.

Besides creating an advertising effect, the deeper reason was that the other diamonds were not small and taking them out involved the risk of being lost or stolen. It was safer to let the auction house handle the logistics.

A lawyer was invited, and an entrustment agreement was signed. After signing, the manager named Tony asked, "Mr. Feng, would you like to go with us?"

James shook his head with a polite smile. "I still have some things to deal with. Please notify me after the auction concludes."

"Okay," Tony said with a smile, shaking hands with James. "It will take about a month. Please keep your communication lines open."

After saying goodbye to Tony, James originally planned to take a one-day trip around the capital. However, seeing the grey and foggy weather and the fact that almost everyone on the street was wearing masks, he had no choice but to stay in the hotel for a day before booking a plane ticket to return home.

If he wanted to go abroad, he would still need to return to his place of household registration to apply for a passport. That was why he had declined the auction house's invitation.

James's hometown was a quiet, small town located in the southern region. After his plane landed, he took a minibus for over an hour to reach the town.

Sitting in the crowded vehicle, he listened to the dialects spoken by the passengers around him, feeling an indescribable intimacy. Busy with work, he hadn't returned home for quite a long time.

The weather in May in the south was muggy and made people sweat easily. When James finally arrived at the bus station, he declined the motorcycle taxi drivers who shouted at him near the station entrance and chose to walk home instead.

His family lived not far from the station, in a small, three-story western style building typical of rural areas. Apart from his parents, his family also included an older sister who worked as a middle school teacher. Their chicken farm business was neither prosperous nor struggling, just stable enough to make a living.

Upon reaching home, James found no one there. Checking the time, he guessed his parents were likely busy farming. Left on his own, he decided to cook a meal. His cooking skills were nothing special, but he managed to prepare something simple.

Later that evening, when his parents returned home and saw the door open from a distance, they were startled, thinking the house might have been burgled. Seeing their son inside, they were both surprised and delighted.

"James" His mother shouted seeing her son, with a wide smile she ran toward james and hugged him, similarly his father who was behind his mother came and with his large hand patted his shoulder.

"Welcome home my son" His father said warmly.

Looking at his mother and his father he couldn't help but feels warm.

"I am home, Mom, Dad" saying that he also hugged his mom.

After a while,

" My James look at you, how thin you have gotten, are you not sleeping well" his mother asked with concern while caressing his cheek. Her eyes filled with concern and warmth.

James looking and his mother concerned face and father face he smiled widely and puts his hand over his mother hand.

"I am okay mom, I will take care of my body from now on" he said.

To distract them he hastily, James explained that he had come back on a whim without notifying anyone in advance. His parents quickly moved past their initial surprise and concern, and the atmosphere turned warm. To divert the topic, James started chatting about family matters.

He soon called his brother-in-law's family over and shared the story he had prepared long ago—that he had won the lottery jackpot. He announced his intention to leave one million for his parents.

He also suggested using the money for buying new furniture and replacing the family car. However, to his mild frustration, his parents unanimously decided to save the money instead of spending it.

James protested, "The money is meant for you to spend and enjoy life."

His mother smiled gently. "We're living a good life already. Your sister is married, and you're graduated. How can we spend what's meant for you young ones?"

James had anticipated this reaction. His mother family was from honest and hard working family and his father was also Chinese teacher in America. They had little desire for personal luxury.

James then turned his attention to his sister's family, deciding to lend them 500,000 yuan. He didn't mind if they couldn't repay it. He also set aside 300,000 yuan as future education funds for his niece, Xiaoyu, who was just over five years old.

Little Xiaoyu was at that mischievous age, full of energy and charm.

Known as a troublemaker in her kindergarten, she cheered loudly upon hearing about the money, rushing to give her uncle a kiss. Her sister couldn't help but scold, "Xiaoyu, you're still too young. I'll keep the money safe for you."

"No! No! No!" Xiaoyu protested energetically, understanding well that her mother's idea of keeping it safe would likely mean it wouldn't return.

Her sister smiled indulgently and asked, "Alright then, do you want 300,000 yuan or 100 yuan?"

The little girl counted on her fingers and innocently chose a hundred and five yuan, much to everyone's amusement. The whole family burst into laughter, leaving Xiaoyu looking adorably confused.

James picked her up and teased, "Why don't you come with your uncle? I'll take you to the United States, visit Disneyland, explore San Diego's underwater world, and ride a hot air balloon over the Grand Canyon."

Hearing this, the little girl gleefully agreed, completely sold on the idea.

During the conversation, James casually mentioned his upcoming plan to visit the United States.
