Chapter 204: Douluo Travel IV
"Very well then," Bibi Dong said, rising from her seat and holding her scepter upright. "Will you two accept me as your master?"
She looked directly at Michael and Xue, awaiting their answer. The two glanced at each other briefly. Michael gave a polite nod, and Xue followed his lead with a respectful bow.
But before the moment could settle, the grand temple doors swung open.
A burly man with a commanding presence strode into the hall, his golden armor shining under the sacred light.
"Bibi Dong, this cannot be allowed," he said firmly.
Bibi Dong turned her head slightly, clearly expecting him. "Priest of Worship hall," she said without emotion. "You always arrive at the most inconvenient times."
"and don't forget this is Pope hall and I am the Pope"
Her gaze drifted back to Michael or Luochen and Xue and she said " they are mine"
At that, the Bright Lion Douluo, one of the elders of Worhip Hall and the one with the Bright Lion martial spirit line.
"She has a lion martial spirit like my own," he said slowly. "I feel it… the right successor. This child must be trained under me. The decision lies with the children, not with you."
Bibi Dong frowned but did not argue directly. Instead, her gaze swept from Xue to Luochen, assessing.
Michael understood the implication — a political tug-of-war. Xue looked conflicted, but then turned to Michael.
"I'll go with him," she said softly. "If he has Lion Martial spirit like mine, then he can help me."
Michael nodded in approval. "It's the right path. I'll be nearby."
Bibi Dong gave a thin smile, clearly displeased, but covering it well. "As you wish," she said, tapping her scepter once on the marble floor. "Luochen will remain. He is mine to guide."
Bright Lion Douluo gave a respectful nod. "Then we are agreed."
He turned to Xue with a kind expression. "Come with me. I will teach you what it means to carry the will of the lion."
As they walked away, Xue turned back once and said, "Please take care of yourself, Luochen. Your master... she seems intense."
Michael chuckled faintly. "I'll be fine. Just don't get too ahead of me."
Bibi Dong watched the exchange, then looked at Michael with narrowed eyes. "You may rest now," she said. "But be warned — from this day forward, I will not tolerate weakness. Fail me, and I will cast you aside."
Michael gave a calm, unwavering nod.
"Ghost, take him to his new quarters," Bibi Dong commanded.
The Ghost Douluo silently nodded and, without a word, gestured for Michael to follow. As they left the Pope Hall, the cold stillness of Spirit Hall's corridors followed them until they emerged into open air.
Michael soon found himself standing before a serene lakeside.
The lake was wide and still, surrounded by elegant houses nestled along its edge. The architecture was refined — grand yet peaceful — with a quiet dignity.
"The houses along this lake are the quarters for honored guests and key members of Spirit Hall," Ghost Douluo explained, his voice as soft and eerie as ever. "The large one on the east end belongs to Her Majesty, the Pope. And that one…" He pointed to a solitary pavilion built on an island at the center of the lake, connected by a narrow, arched bridge. "That will be your residence."
Michael narrowed his eyes. The island was quiet, distant from the others — secluded. But the design was pristine. The pavilion was wide and luxurious, painted in tones of silver and obsidian, and surrounded by a blooming garden of spirit herbs.
"It may not look it from here," Ghost added, "but it is fully equipped. Inside, you'll find a personal cultivation chamber, a garden, and rooms for study and rest. A true master's residence."
He paused, then added, "Also, you'll be sharing it with your senior sister. She is Hu Liena, her majesty the pope first disciple — she's 11 years old and already a level 27 Soul Grandmaster. Her martial spirit is the Phantom Demon Fox, a high-tier spirit type focused on agility and illusions."
Michael raised an eyebrow slightly but didn't comment.
"You can choose any room," Ghost continued. "Right now, she's at the Hall Academy for her training, but you'll see her around soon enough."
Michael nodded slowly, then asked, "Where's the library?"
"The main Spirit Hall library is not here," Ghost replied, his voice calm. "However, this lakeside area has a private archive — it's good enough for you. You'll find it beside the eastern side."
Michael's eyes flickered with interest.
"Good. I'll need access to all known classifications of martial spirits, especially rare ones," he said. "Also, can you make a request to delay my first soul ring hunt? Give me one month. My martial spirit's nature is unknown… I want to study its properties in depth first. I need to see what kind of soul beast would complement it best."
Ghost Douluo gave a small, knowing smile — rare for a man of his eerie silence.
"I will inform Her Majesty," he replied, then disappeared like mist into the morning fog.
Michael turned to the house.
Soon, Michael received permission for his request, and he spent the next month inside the library. He buried himself in countless volumes, researching all known soul beasts to find the optimal first soul ring. This wasn't just preparation — it was all part of his greater plan.
During that time, Michael also finally met his senior sister: Hu Liena. Though she was only 11 years old, her beauty was already striking — so much so that even Michael found himself momentarily distracted the first time they met. However, she quickly snapped him back to reality with her sharp eyes and confident presence. Since then, the two had grown somewhat close, occasionally talking and spending time together.
Throughout this month, Michael also discovered new gacha pools within his system. These included:
Cultivation Technique Gacha Pool
Spirit Bone Gacha Pool
Soul Guide Tool Gacha Pool
The system warned Michael that each gacha pool was temporary and would vanish once he returned to the Marvel World, meaning they were exclusive to this cultivation realm.
Knowing that he still lacked any real cultivation technique, Michael didn't hesitate. He used one Gold Ticket, which granted ten draws — one guaranteed Gold draw and nine mixed-tier chances.
As a result, he received:
3 Profound-rank Techniques (from Bronze-tier draws)
6 Earth-rank Techniques (from Silver-tier draws)
1 Heaven-rank Technique (from the Gold-tier draw)
Cultivation Technique Rank Structure:
Mortal → Profound → Earth → Heaven
Profound-rank Techniques
Stone Skin Tempering Art (Defensive)
-Toughens the outer layer of skin, allowing body forging and making ones body stronger.
-Serpent Coil Breathing (Foundational Energy Cultivation)
Allows slow but stable intake of surrounding spirit energy, suitable for refining the meridians.
-Flowstep Method (Movement)
Boosts agility. Silent fast movement art.
Earth-rank Techniques
-Crimson Thunder Pulse (Offensive)
Channels energy through meridians to burst with explosive strikes — causes muscle strain if overused.
-Verdant Iron Body Sutra (Defensive Body Cultivation)
Strengthens bones and tendons using spiritual iron essence. A good body forging art.
-Soaring Cloud Steps (Movement)
Lightweight footwork that allows short gliding steps across surfaces and short term aerial movement.
-Soulroot Qi Method ( Cultivation)
A solid foundational method that helps build a strong spirit core through balanced energy intake.
-Seven-Gate Vortex Flow (Amplification)
Opens minor meridian gates to increase energy throughput during combat or high-speed cultivation.
-Burning Heart Flame Art (Offensive / Inner Fire Control)
Allows user to generate internal fire energy for attacks and temperature resistance.
Heaven-rank Technique
-Dragon Soul Ascension Art (Comprehensive — Body + Spirit)
A powerful art that tempers the body, nourishes the soul, and awakens latent draconic potential. It forges the practitioner's body with layered Qi, reinforcing bones, meridians, and spiritual power in harmony.
Michael was genuinely pleased with acquiring the Dragon Soul Ascension Art — a top-tier Heaven-rank technique. Its powerful body and soul integration made it ideal for his long-term path.
However, he soon realized something crucial:
While it excelled in physical and soul durability, it offered very little in terms of spiritual awareness or mental fortitude — both of which were essential in the world of Douluo.
Here, where spiritual pressure, willpower, and mental domains often decided battles, a strong mind was not optional — it was necessary.
Not one to leave a weakness exposed, Michael did another Gacha draw, this time specifically from the Spiritual Cultivation Pool.
To his satisfaction, he obtained:
Celestial Mind Lotus Scripture (Heaven Rank – Spiritual Cultivation)
"A profound soul cultivation art that forms a mental lotus core within the practitioner's consciousness. This mental lotus enhances clarity of thought, memory retention, and significantly boosts resistance to illusions or mental attacks. Over time, it allows spiritual power to grow in harmony with physical cultivation. At high level this scripture can unlock soul-related abilities or spiritual projection pathways in advanced stages."
