Chapter 199: Meeting Mother

Felicia's back pressed against the side of a crate, but she didn't care. Her fingers tugged at Michael's collar, pulling him closer as their kiss grew deeper—hungry, full of everything they hadn't said out loud.

No games. No lies. Just the two of them, real and raw.

Dim light from a nearby lamp flickered off gold, steel, and forgotten relics, casting their shadows across the vault walls. They held each other close, breathing hard, like the world outside had stopped mattering.

Felicia broke the kiss just enough to rest her forehead against his, her lips brushing his skin as she whispered, "You know this is dangerous, right?"

Michael's voice was low and smooth. "So is falling for someone like you."

A small laugh escaped her—soft and shaky. "You're impossible."

"I never said I was easy."

His hands moved slowly down her waist, strong and certain, like he was trying to remember every inch of her. She sighed against him, her fingers in his hair, holding him close, her heart racing.

Then her smirk returned—playful, but her eyes were softer now.

"Well…" she breathed, kissing along his jaw, "I guess I'll have to steal more than just your heart."

Michael smiled, his voice rough with emotion. "You already have."

Their lips met again—deeper this time, slow and burning, the kind of kiss that left no room for doubt. Passion poured between them, fast and fierce, like something they had both been holding back for too long.

The rest of the vault faded. The money, the secrets, the danger—none of it mattered.

Right now, it was just them.

For once, Michael wasn't thinking ahead. Felicia wasn't planning an escape.

They were just there.

And they didn't want to be anywhere else.

Felicia stirred slowly, the soft sheets brushing against her bare skin. Her muscles ached pleasantly, and her legs felt weak—like she'd run a marathon or fought off a dozen guards.

Or like she'd spent the night wrapped around a man who kissed like he is going to devour her.

She blinked against the morning light filtering through high curtains, realizing she was alone in the bed. A silk sheet clung to her, tangled around her hips. The space beside her was empty, but still warm. Michael had been there not long ago.

She sat up with a soft groan, wincing at the soreness in her thighs and back. "Ugh... okay, maybe I stole his heart, but he stole my legs."

Swinging her feet off the bed, she took in the room around her. Luxurious, minimalist, with smooth stone walls and reinforced vault-like doors. It was quiet, safe, and she realized quickly—this wasn't her place.

She spotted her clothes folded neatly on a nearby chair—along with a few artifacts from the vault. One was a sleek black tablet with etched markings, another a small golden figurine bound in protective wire. He'd left them for her. Gifts, maybe. Or trust.

Her fingers brushed the gold, cool and ancient under her skin.

The door clicked open.

Michael stepped in, calm as always, shirt sleeves rolled up and a silver tray in his hands. The smell hit her first—coffee, toast, eggs, and fresh strawberries.

"You're awake," he said with a soft grin.

Felicia raised an eyebrow. "You brought me breakfast in bed? What, are we playing house now?"

Michael placed the tray gently on the side table and sat down at the edge of the bed. "Just figured you might need something. You, uh… didn't walk out of that vault looking steady."

Felicia huffed a laugh, grabbing a strawberry. "I'm sore in places I didn't know had muscles."

"Not sorry," Michael replied, sipping his coffee.

She looked at him through half-lidded eyes, a slow smile curling her lips. "You're lucky I like pain."

Michael leaned in, brushing a lock of hair from her cheek. "And you're lucky I'm not done with you."

Felicia leaned back on her elbows, biting into the strawberry with a purr. "Good. I was worried breakfast was all I was getting."

Michael's smirk deepened. "Eat up. We've got work to do after."

Felicia blinked, still chewing. "Wait—No, I am way too tired for round two."

Michael rolled his eyes. "I wasn't talking about that. My mother wants to meet you."

Felicia froze mid-bite, the fork halfway to her lips. "Wait. What?"

He casually sipped his coffee like he hadn't just dropped a social bomb.

"She asked to see you," he said simply.

Felicia narrowed her eyes, setting the tray aside. "Isn't this a little fast? I mean… we just started dating."

Michael gave a lazy shrug. "We're not normal people. My family is high-class, old money. In circles like ours, partners aren't just lovers—they're equals. Chosen carefully."

"And you just happened to choose a world-famous thief?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Michael smirked. "Exactly. That's what makes it fun."

She sat back, sighing. "Let me guess, I don't have to be polite, but I shouldn't steal the silverware either?"

Michael stood, buttoning his cufflinks. "You don't have to impress her. She's not looking for some obedient daughter-in-law. She just wants to see the woman who made me smile like an idiot."

Felicia paused at that, her expression softening. "You smiled like an idiot?"

Michael leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Don't let it go to your head."

She gave a small groan and dragged herself out of bed. "Fine. But if she doesn't like me, you're buying me diamonds."

Michael was already walking toward the door. "Deal. But if she does like you—"

Felicia interrupted, wrapping the sheet around herself as she followed. "—then you're buying me diamonds anyway."

Michael glanced back with a grin. "See? Perfect match."

Later That Morning – White Estate

Felicia stood in front of a full-length mirror, wrapped in a satin robe, her expression somewhere between curious and mildly horrified.

"I cannot believe I'm doing this," she muttered.

Behind her, Mia laid out outfit options across a velvet settee—sleek designer pieces in black, silver, and deep burgundy. "Oh please," Mia said with a cheeky grin. "You've broken into vaults beneath Vatican cathedrals. But one meet-the-mother brunch has you shaking in heels?"
