Chapter 158: Chaoter 157

— Cheadle, with long green hair reaching her waist and wearing a white robe, adjusted the black circular glasses on her face.

Her bright eyes sparkled with a hint of wisdom.

Cheadle, full name Cheadle o Yorkshin.

She was a medical and legal scholar, a difficult problems hunter.

Within the Zodiacs, she was known for her sharp mind, determined to identify and eradicate various long-standing issues.

She was a pragmatic individual who valued balance. During the later Dark Continent expedition, she was assigned to the science team.

"I've heard that even Chairman Netero has been paying attention to him. He's quite the man to watch," Cheadle said, quietly observing Morin, while others like Mizaistom Nana and Saccho o Koyochiwa also kept an eye on him from different angles.

Of course, some weren't concerned at all.

For example, Piyon, who was lying on the table in a somewhat criminally suggestive pose, absorbed in his phone.

And Ginta, who kept stuffing his mouth with chips while holding a box.

These two were indifferent to the situation, simply waiting for Netero to arrive and announce the decisions so they could clock out for the day.

"Yo, you all got here early," Ging said, walking over to Cheadle and Botobai, greeting them casually.

"Shouldn't you be the one who's late?" Cheadle replied, pushing up her glasses and subtly distancing herself from Ging.

She absolutely detested Pariston, and she often became irritated in Ging's presence.

The man was willful and impulsive, yet it seemed as though everything he did always went according to his plans. This frustrated her to no end.

"You two are probably among those confirmed as candidates for the Zodiacs, right?" Ging asked, speaking as though they were old friends.

"Aren't you as well?" Botobai responded in a low tone.

"Yeah, but what I really wanted to ask is…" Ging glanced at Cheadle, then turned his attention fully to Botobai.

"Did you receive the other notice from the old man?"

Ging was referring to the notice about the Five Greatest Nen Users selection.

Cheadle's ears twitched as she looked at Ging in surprise.

Another notice from Chairman Netero? What was that about?

Botobai, after a brief silence, nodded slowly.

"As expected, you got it too," Ging said with a smile, leaving it at that.

Botobai had indeed been informed by Netero.

Ging fell silent, and so did Botobai.

But Cheadle, who was caught between them, was left puzzled. "???"

"You two can't just leave me in the dark! At least explain clearly!" Cheadle silently chastised them in her mind.

Meanwhile, a cold gaze continued to focus on Morin.

"Sayu, huh?"

Morin glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw a tall, thin man intently watching their side. That man was Sayu, a fellow bounty hunter and Morin's main competition for Hwa Shidoulong's position in the Zodiacs.

"This time, your plan is doomed to fail," Sayu murmured.

Morin didn't pay him much attention.

There would definitely be a seat for Hwa Shidoulong in the Zodiacs!

As time passed, more people began filling the venue.

Finally, when the clock's hands pointed to 12, the door at the main podium slowly opened.

Three figures stepped out one after another.

The first two were Pariston, with a smug smile on his lips and a scholarly young man aura, and Mr. Beans, who was small in stature and carrying a stack of documents in his arms.

Their appearance quieted the room, except for a few loud screams that were slightly annoying.

Yes, they were Pariston's fans.

Pariston was quite popular in the Hunter Association, with his own vice-chairman's bodyguard squad, and a fan club led by a future presidential candidate named Ke Ai Mei.

Morin lingered for a couple of seconds on Pariston, who was known as the "strongest opponent" according to Ging, and as the type most difficult for Netero to deal with. Then, Morin's gaze shifted with more interest to Mr. Beans standing beside Pariston.

Morin was more interested in Mr. Beans than in Pariston.

Mr. Beans, the secretary to Chairman Netero, also served as the head of the Association's office, and he was one of the most influential figures within the Hunter Association.

However, this man wasn't a typical human.

According to information Morin had learned from Ging, Mr. Beans was a plant-type Beastman from the Beastman race.

Yes, Mr. Beans was a plant-like Beastman.

He possessed a high level of intelligence and a pure, plant-like heart, which made him an ideal candidate to serve as Netero's secretary without any objections.

Moreover, it was thanks to Mr. Beans' position that the relationship between the Beastman race and the Hunter Association remained stable.

This was evident even from the example of the fierce fox family of Saba City's Hunter examiners.

Beastmen were known for their high intelligence and ability to transform into human forms, as demonstrated by the fierce fox family.

Although Mr. Beans had the face of a bean, his body could still transform into a humanoid form.

Mr. Beans played an important role within the Hunter Association, not only for his extensive experience handling documents but also as a representative of the Beastman race, symbolizing the friendly relationship between the Hunter Association and the Beastmen.

Behind the two, the last to step out was Netero, dressed in flowing white robes, his hair waving as if moved by an unseen wind, and his sleeves fluttering gracefully, exuding an otherworldly, immortal-like aura.

After Netero made his appearance, even Pariston's most devoted fans quieted down.

Many in the audience turned their intense gazes toward the world's number one hunter.

Netero's terrifying influence was evident.

"Ah, what a rare sight to have so many gathered here," Netero chuckled, stroking his hooked beard with a smile.

"For all the enthusiasm you've shown for the operations and management of the Hunter Association, I am truly touched and deeply pleased!"

"Thank you all for your hard work!!"

Upon hearing Netero's words, many of the hunters straightened in their seats, as though inspired by his speech.

However, Cheadle, Mizaistom Nana, and others who were familiar with Netero's nature merely observed silently.

Even Botobai's eyelids twitched, though he didn't respond to Netero's words.

But many of the hunters, fired up, were about to thump their chests to express their love and loyalty to the Hunter Association.

"Alright, let's skip the extra talk and get to the main point!"

Netero waved his hand, not giving them a chance to speak, leaving their words stuck in their throats and their faces showing discomfort.

Ah, this was typical of the old man's personality.

Cheadle and the others nodded silently in their minds.

"I've decided to name the organization we're about to evaluate the 'Twelve Zodiacs.' Each of the twelve members will be assigned an animal from the Chinese zodiac, and they will be selected based on their outstanding contributions and recognition in their respective fields."

"They will be organized to assist me in managing and operating the Hunter Association, contributing to its further development."

"Although these twelve individuals will have administrative responsibilities within the Association, the power they share will still ultimately come from me, the chairman, and the office represented by Mr. Beans."

"So, there is no need to worry about the Zodiacs interfering with the management of other departments."

After Netero's speech, many hunters, obviously from other departments, let out a relieved sigh.

While the Zodiacs would hold power within the office, the assurance that they wouldn't interfere with other departments' management made it more palatable for everyone.

Thus, they had fewer objections to Netero's selections for the Zodiacs.

After all, they weren't losing any of their own power, so it didn't matter to them.

With that thought in mind, they settled in to watch the show.

After Netero finished speaking, the crowd was given time to discuss among themselves.

Then, Mr. Beans cleared his throat and walked up to the podium with a file in hand.

"Now, I will announce the official list of the Twelve Zodiacs."

He stood at the microphone, his face serious as he read from the document:

"Twelve Zodiacs, Rat—Vice President, Pariston."

As soon as Mr. Beans finished, a beam of light descended from the ceiling and illuminated Pariston, who stood to the side.

Ahh!!

Once again, his fans in the crowd screamed in excitement.

Pariston smiled gently and waved at them to quiet down.

"Twelve Zodiacs, Ox—One-Star Crime Hunter, Mizaistom Nana..."

Another beam of light shone down on Mizaistom Nana, who stood and placed a hand over his chest, bowing slightly to acknowledge the crowd.

"Twelve Zodiacs, Tiger—One-Star Treasure Hunter, Kanzai."

Under the intense light, Kang Zai grinned widely, placing one foot on the chair and waving proudly at the crowd.

"Twelve Zodiacs, Rabbit—One-Star Ancient Text Hunter, Piyon."

"Huh?!"

Piyon, who had been shopping on his phone, lifted his head and tilted it in confusion as the spotlight fell on him.

"Twelve Zodiacs, Dragon—Three-Star Terrorist Hunter, Botobai Gigante."

So far, he was the only Three-Star Hunter and the one who commanded the most respect.

Botobai remained seated calmly, unaffected.

"Twelve Zodiacs, Snake—One-Star Poison Hunter, Gel."

"Twelve Zodiacs, Horse—One-Star Troublesome Hunter, Saccho Kobayakawa."

"Twelve Zodiacs, Goat—One-Star Poacher Hunter, Ginta."
