In Fairy Tail, starts with a Super Mega Gengar

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: The Counterattack of the Black Magic Guild

Makarov heard Gaal's question and replied, "It's nothing much, mainly the impact caused by this incident. Due to a massive influx of dark mages into the Fiore Kingdom, it has brought some chaos to the order of the kingdom. Many ministers there are using this incident to criticize us. Just now, the mayor came to notify me, saying that the kingdom has stopped its support for the town, and the future development can only rely on the town itself.

To regain the kingdom's support, we'll probably have to wait until this matter passes. Anyway, the mayor's tone was full of complaints. Furthermore, there are many in the Council condemning our reckless actions that impacted the order of the Ishgar continent's magic community, saying we should pay fines? What a joke. They've even started issuing orders to hunt down our members; do they really care about their so-called order?"

Makarov spoke nonchalantly, clearly not taking those guys seriously. Gaal nodded and inquired, "What about the Grimoire Heart? How did the Council decide?"

Makarov explained, "Though many have condemned us, there are still quite a few who support us. Because we have a greater number of supporters, the Council has already begun to dispatch troops to eradicate the dark guilds across various regions. After this, Grimoire Heart will surely be severely weakened. If you want to make a move, you better do it quickly. These guys will regret giving us information and will start getting anxious to reap the rewards."

Gaal nodded, saying, "I'll set off in the next couple of days. In this situation... It seems our 'thank you letter' has worked."

Clearly, they had already been preparing to strike Grimoire Heart, and in turn, were hitting Fairy Tail with this penalty out of spite.

Makarov was taken aback and then realized, "You mean... the Black Magic Guild? No wonder. I was wondering why it suddenly became chaotic these past few days. This isn't a coincidence."

Previously, Makarov hadn't noticed, thinking it was just the increased number of returning Council members causing large discrepancies of opinion. But hearing Gaal say this, he instantly connected the dots.

Both sides had been dealt with.

The town where Fairy Tail resided had its support from the kingdom halted; they would need to rely on themselves for development, and many in the Council were criticizing them, while Grimoire Heart was being targeted, with the Council voting to conduct a cleansing operation against Grimoire Heart's affiliated guilds.

Yet it was being done so quietly that even Makarov, discussing matters in the Council, hadn't sensed anything amiss.

Makarov frowned deeply, "With that said, the influence controlled by the Black Magic Guild is quite substantial. As for the kingdom's ministers, that's one thing. But so many first and second-tier members in the Council are entangled with them..."

The structure of the Magic Council consists of one chairman and nine members, along with many first and second-tier members who monitor the activities of various mage guilds.

These first and second-tier members are qualified to make proposals and vote. The recent decision to target Grimoire Heart came about through a vote.

Gaal didn't care much, shrugging as he said, "There's nothing we can do. They're professionals at this. When the opportunity arises to find their lair, we can just eliminate them."

Makarov's mouth twitched, "You really don't hold back. If it were that easy to find, the Magic Council would have found it long ago..."

Suddenly, Makarov stopped speaking, realizing something.

Wait... that doesn't make sense?!

Since the Black Magic Guild could influence so many first and second-tier members, how could the Council not find their location?

And take that R System, for example. Its construction wasn't done overnight; it had been established for several years.

Why could Grimoire Heart find the locations, but the Six Magic Generals could mislead Buchanan's brother?

How could they find them while the Council couldn't?

Makarov suddenly had a headache, wondering how deeply the Council had been infiltrated.

Although it seemed nearly impossible for there to be any traitors, as the real power of the magic world lay with the chairman and the nine members, with so many lower-ranking members influenced by the Black Magic Guild, it was no wonder that the Council couldn't uncover the Black Magic Guild's trail over the years.

They were all leaking information, so where could they be caught? It might be better to just destroy the whole thing.

Makarov's mind was buzzing as he rubbed his temples, "Things seem to be getting a bit troublesome."

With several members tied to the Black Magic Guild, simply reporting it wouldn't work. The key is that no one would believe it anyway...

Makarov suddenly felt exhausted, looking at Gaal, who was leisurely sipping juice, and could not help but exclaim, "What time is it, and you're still not a bit anxious? The Magic Council has been infiltrated to the point of being a sieve; we need to come up with a plan."

Gaal looked surprised, "What's there to be anxious about? Don't say it's infiltrated to that extent; even if the Council were destroyed... what would happen? Could it affect us?"

Makarov was taken aback but then relaxed, "You're right. And besides, if it gets destroyed, we wouldn't need to pay fines anymore. This useless Council might as well be destroyed sooner rather than later." Makarov appeared indifferent again.

Even if it were revealed later on, the failure would rest squarely on the chairman and the nine members; it wouldn't concern them at all.

Perhaps because of this incident, they might even seek compensation from the Council.

After getting a grasp on the Council's movements, Gaal put down his juice and told Makarov about Pidgey and Squirtle.

He also taught Makarov a communication spell he had created, making it easier for Pidgey and Squirtle to report situations in real time to Makarov.

Afterward, Gaal left the guild, preparing to gather his things and set off to cleanse the dark guilds. But before that, Gaal headed deep into the western forest.

Since Magnolia Town was surrounded by mountains on three sides, the forest area was extensive, and the western forest held some magical beasts, making it an unusual training area for the Gengar army.

At present, at the edge of the Gengar army's base, Evergreen hid in the grass, excitedly sketching the image of a 'fairy.'

She couldn't remember how many sketches she'd completed.

Although these 'fairies' appeared quite scary and were unlike the dancing ones she had imagined, she had specifically gone to the guild library to consult the Encyclopedia of Magical Beasts and found none that matched.

Thus, they must be 'fairies' that had not yet been discovered. Besides, only 'fairies' could possess such power, right?! The ability to easily control… those bone dragons?!
