In DC universe as Batman

Chapter 29: Chapter 28: Chaotic Fight

Above Slaughter Swamp, the Bat Stealth Fighter hovered silently, like a predator in the night.

Alfred switched it to autopilot, then calmly walked over to the mini-bar in the cockpit and poured himself a cup of coffee. Real classy, as always.

Ding ding ding…

A message alert flashed. Alfred strolled over, glanced at the screen, and pressed a button without so much as a raised eyebrow.

Moments later, a mechanical voice echoed from the Batcomputer.

"Herbicide released."

------

"Ugh!"

Down below, the Plant Master dropped to his knees and puked out a glob of thick, nasty green goop. His skin was pulsing, shifting—his whole body glitching like a bad animation. But he wasn't going down that easy.

He figured it out fast. A layer of wood and vines started growing all over him, forming a kind of makeshift bark armor. The herbicide hit it, sizzled a little… but couldn't eat through anymore.

Back in the cockpit, Bruce was watching the readouts. He frowned.

Too weak. The salt-water based herbicide isn't enough for the task.

It wasnt that he hadn't considered more aggressive chemicals —acetic acid, copper-based compounds, glyphosate. But those came with a catch: too much of it, and you're not just melting the plant monster—you're also poisoning the water, killing the trees, and, oh yeah, potentially everyone nearby.

And let's not forget: Professor Goldblum was still somewhere down there, being mind-controlled by Poison Ivy. Not to mention a few friendlies scattered across the battlefield.

He wasn't Amanda Waller.

He wasn't the type to nuke the whole place just to stop one threat. Especially when friendly forces are in line. (Referring to suicide Squad vs Justice league)

"Do it," he said.

"Yes, Batman."

The Plant Master stumbled up, still groaning, holding his head like it was splitting in two.

Then he looked up... and froze.

Deadshot stood front and center, armed to the teeth.

To his left, Cheshire Cat had an ultrasonic rocket launcher on her shoulder, grinning like a lunatic, under her broken mask.

Count Vertigo was approaching slowly, tapping his temple with one finger, releasing waves of disorienting energy.

And above them all, Lady Vic was perched on a tree branch, aiming a enhanced surge rifle.

...Wait. Standing on a tree?

That didn't last long.

A vine whipped up and yanked Lady Vic into the sky, screaming.

"AARGHH!"

Elsewhere, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn were busy kicking the crap out of each other.

Ivy slapped Harley—left, right—then threw a kick. Harley caught her leg, flipped her, and sent them both tumbling into the dirt.

They wrestled. Slapped. Pulled hair. Spit. Bit. Classic girls-fighting-over-global-eco-doom kind of thing.

BZZZZZ…

Count Vertigo's powers kicked in, sending out a wave of brain-rattling interference.

The Plant Master staggered. Perfect opening.

Deadshot fired the rocket launcher. BOOM.

The Plant Master hit the ground, groaning.

Then came Cheshire Cat—seven freezing grenades, one after the other, launched at ridiculous speed. Half the plant freak's body got encased in ice.

Lady Vic recovered in midair and zapped him with a blast of electricity that lit him up like a Christmas tree.

"AAAAAAAAHHHH!"

------

"Pamela, you maniac!" Harley yelled, straddling Ivy and grabbing her by the legs. "Your plan is trash!"

"Humans are trash!" Ivy yelled back, flipping her and raining punches on her forearms. "The world's dying!"

"Then I dunno—vote Democrat! Donate to Greenpeace!"

"Greenpeace saves whales, idiot!"

"Whatever! At least they don't turn people into walking plant zombies!"

The Plant Master was on the ground again, curled up like he was having a bad day. Lady Vic ran in and started stomping him. Deadshot joined in, unloading a rain of bullets into him like this was therapy.

Cheshire Cat pulled out a knife and started chopping at the Plant Master's neck like she was cutting firewood.

Lady Vic? She was sawing at his legs now.

"I'm collecting all his limbs this time!"

...Who does that?

And seriously—where did she even get that saw?

Back under the tree, Ivy was wrapped around Harley like kudzu. Harley slammed her into the trunk and punched.

Ivy ducked, slipped past her arm, and landed a solid hit to Harley's chest.

"OW!"

Harley clutched her boobs, then punched Ivy right back.

"OW!"

Ivy winced, then kicked Harley between the legs.

Harley screamed, grabbed Ivy's hair.

Ivy stomped her foot.

Harley threw an uppercut.

They both swung at the same time and punched each other in the face.

"OW—WOW—OWW!"

Then came the wild card.

Dog Welder.

His whole fighting style? Run up and weld a dead dog to your face.

And that's exactly what he did.

He charged in, lit the torch in his left hand, and in seconds—he welded a golden retriever to the Plant Master's face.

"WOOF!"

The dog, yes the welded-on corpse dog, barked:

"Woof woof? Woof woof woof!"

Everyone stopped for a moment, like… What the actual hell is happening?

Even the psychopaths paused in confusion.

The Plant Master finally staggered back to his feet, absolutely done with everyone.

"You don't get it… None of you understand the power of the Green!"

Nearby, Ivy shouted:

"We could've changed the world, Harley!"

She grabbed a stick off the ground and swung.

Harley caught her wrist, flipped her, and snatched the stick.

"Changed the world? I'm smart enough to beat your leafy ass!"

She swung.

CRACK.

Ivy stood up, furious, and snapped her fingers.

The stick in Harley's hands twisted, turned into a wooden snake, and hissed with a mouth full of sharp splinter-teeth.

Harley screamed and chucked it.

"Okay that's actually really cool," Ivy grinned.

"THIS ISN'T FAIR!" Harley yelled.

Suddenly, the Plant Master shoved Lady Vic aside and gasped for breath.

"I didn't want to use this…"

He pulled a gnarly-looking plant tuber out from inside his robes—and shoved it straight into his mouth.

"Ughhh…"

He bit down, swallowed, then threw his head back—

"ROOOAAAARRRRRRRR!"

The swamp shook.

Something big was coming.
