I’m the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon

Chapter 1437: The Secret of the Soul-Heart

After speaking, Yuga released Florges. The moment Florges appeared, Teacher Chiffon's gaze suddenly tightened—she sensed the unfathomable aura emanating from Florges.

Most of the Fairy Remnant people specialize in Fairy-type Pokémon, so they have extremely deep research into Fairy-types and are especially sensitive to Fairy-type auras.

"Florges, I'm counting on you."

Yuga had already told Florges everything about the Fairy Remnants, so she naturally knew what to do.

She nodded, then placed her arm over Magearna's Soul-Heart at its chest. Instantly, waves of pink light rose around her body.

Fairy Aura activated.

The light traveled along her arm and entered Magearna's Soul-Heart, then spread throughout Magearna's entire body. Then, Yuga and Teacher Chiffon heard the sound of gears turning coming from within Magearna's body.

At the same time, Magearna's tightly shut eyes slowly opened, and its arm lifted.

Seeing this, Teacher Chiffon was overjoyed, but in the next second, she froze—because Magearna's Soul-Heart, which had just started glowing and seemed like it was about to awaken, suddenly dimmed again.

Seeing this, Yuga frowned and said, "The Fairy-type energy isn't enough!"

"Then what should we do?" Teacher Chiffon became anxious.

"Prepare Fairy Gems!" Yuga quickly came up with a solution.

"But…"

Teacher Chiffon became even more flustered when she heard this. She didn't have any Fairy Gems on her. She hadn't prepared them in advance—where could she possibly find any right now?

Yuga noticed her awkwardness and proposed, "I can provide the Fairy Gems, but you'll have to return them afterward."

Fairy Gems were rare, but Yuga had no shortage. He had built up a stock of various attribute gems—not only from explorations, but also mined from his own elemental gem veins, and some even exchanged from the League store.

Yuga had more League merits than he could use. With his high-level permissions in the League store, he naturally exchanged his merits for all kinds of useful resources.

Attribute gems were the type he exchanged the most.

Upon hearing this, Teacher Chiffon replied joyfully, "Don't worry, we'll definitely return them to you."

Yuga nodded and called for Doduo, instructing it to bring over some Fairy Gems.

After placing the Fairy Gems next to Magearna, it began automatically absorbing the Fairy-type energy from them.

As gem after gem was drained of energy, Magearna's Soul-Heart pulsed more and more intensely.

Before long, Magearna actually sat up on its own.

"We did it!" Teacher Chiffon cried out in surprise.

Teacher Chiffon was normally a quiet and gentle person, but today, because of Magearna, she had already lost her composure more than once.

Seeing that Magearna had awakened, Florges withdrew her arm from Magearna's chest and dispelled the Fairy Aura.

But soon, Yuga and Teacher Chiffon noticed something wrong with Magearna.

Although Magearna had awakened, it remained dazed, like a puppet without a soul.

Beep~

Magearna stood up and wandered around the room, repeatedly performing the same motions, ignoring Teacher Chiffon's calls completely.

"Teacher Chiffon… this…"

Looking at Magearna like this, Yuga didn't know if he had technically fulfilled the Fairy Remnants' request. Magearna had woken up—but not completely.

"What should we do now?"

Teacher Chiffon looked distraught, completely at a loss.

"Why don't you ask your headmaster?" Yuga suggested.

"Yes… yes! Ask the headmaster. The headmaster is wise and knowledgeable—they'll surely know the reason."

Upon hearing Yuga's words, the anxious Teacher Chiffon finally snapped out of it and quickly dialed the headmaster's communicator.

However, even the headmaster, upon seeing Magearna's condition through the communicator, was dumbfounded. This… what should be done about this?

"Mr. Shimizu, I'm truly sorry to be meeting you under these circumstances."

The headmaster of Zenith Academy was an old man who looked to be over eighty years old, not a single hair on his head, shining bright, but his snowy white beard was unusually thick. Though not long, it covered half his face.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Fontaine."

Thanks to Teacher Chiffon's introduction, Yuga already knew the name of Zenith Academy's headmaster.

"We're very grateful to you for your help this time, Mr. Shimizu," said Fontaine, his face full of gratitude.

Yuga shook his head. "With Magearna in its current state, I don't dare take credit."

Fontaine said, "The fact that you were willing to help at all already means a great deal to us."

Yuga no longer dwelled on the matter and asked Fontaine, "So even you don't know what's going on with Magearna?"

Fontaine's face turned bitter as he shook his head.

Yuga fell silent in thought for a moment and then said, "The problem mainly lies with Magearna's Soul-Heart. I wonder if I can remove it and take a look?"

"This…"

Fontaine was momentarily unsure how to respond. The Soul-Heart was Magearna's most important component. For hundreds of years, it had never once been removed. And now he was being asked to let an outsider handle it… he felt uneasy.

Seeing that Fontaine wasn't responding, Yuga didn't push. If the answer was no, then so be it. Yuga didn't absolutely need to do it. If Magearna couldn't be restored, it was the descendants of the Fairy Remnants who'd be anxious—not him.

He was only suggesting it because, having accepted their commission, he wanted to do the job thoroughly. If others didn't agree, there was nothing more he could do.

After much thought, Fontaine finally nodded and agreed to Yuga's proposal. He couldn't let Magearna remain in such a dazed, muddled state. Zenith Academy couldn't function without Magearna.

With the headmaster's approval, Yuga very easily removed Magearna's Soul-Heart. Magearna stood dumbly, showing not a hint of resistance.

Once the Soul-Heart was removed, Magearna instantly became a motionless mechanical puppet.

The Soul-Heart was a perfectly spherical object. Yuga examined it carefully but couldn't find anything unusual, so he asked Teacher Chiffon and Fontaine, "May I take it back and have a look? I'll get back to you this afternoon."

In truth, the reason Yuga suggested removing the Soul-Heart in the first place was that he wanted to take it to Mewtwo. Otherwise, someone like him who knew nothing about machines wouldn't be able to identify what was wrong with the Soul-Heart at all.

Fontaine hesitated for a moment and then agreed. Since he'd already allowed Yuga to remove the Soul-Heart, he might as well trust him all the way. At this point, there was no other option.

Once he had permission, Yuga handed Magearna's body over to Teacher Chiffon and returned to YoYo Day Care with the Soul-Heart.

As soon as he got home, Yuga took the Soul-Heart straight to Mewtwo.

When Yuga arrived at Mewtwo's lab, Mewtwo was buried in an experiment. The experimental material was a vine segment from that ghost vine plant.

Thanks to Yuga constantly purchasing various instruments for Mewtwo, its laboratory had become very advanced. The two Meowstics and the Rotom Computer were also busy inside, operating machines Yuga couldn't even understand.

Because there were so many instruments, Yuga had already knocked through several adjacent rooms in the stone fortress and remodeled them into one large laboratory for Mewtwo.

Mewtwo was so focused on the experiment that it didn't even notice when Yuga entered.

Yuga didn't interrupt. He found a place to sit and waited until Mewtwo finished its experiment.

"You're here?"

Upon seeing Yuga, Mewtwo asked in surprise. Usually, if there was nothing special going on, Yuga wouldn't come to the laboratory.

Yuga stood up and took out the Soul-Heart: "I want to ask you to take a look at something."

Mewtwo stared at the Soul-Heart for a while and suddenly said, "I can sense a consciousness inside."

Yuga thought to himself: As expected of Mewtwo.

As a Psychic-type Pokémon with keen perception—and a first-rank legendary Pokémon at that—Mewtwo being able to sense the consciousness within Magearna didn't come as a surprise to Yuga.

"But that consciousness seems to be trapped by something, and it's in pain," Mewtwo added.

Upon hearing this, Yuga immediately understood that this was probably the reason why Magearna couldn't fully awaken.

So Yuga told Mewtwo everything about Magearna.

After learning that there existed such a mechanical lifeform as Magearna, Mewtwo immediately became interested and took the Soul-Heart from Yuga's hands to study it.

Seeing this, Yuga immediately said with concern, "Be gentle, don't damage Magearna!"

Mewtwo didn't even turn around and replied, "Don't worry."

Though Magearna is mechanical, it's already a complete lifeform. Mewtwo, who now holds a deep reverence for life, would of course not harm Magearna.

Mewtwo placed the Soul-Heart onto a machine, which immediately emitted a beam of light that enveloped it. Soon after, a projection of the Soul-Heart appeared on a screen at the front of the lab.

Yuga couldn't understand any of what he was seeing and could only sit and quietly wait.

Mewtwo studied it with great focus, bringing the two Meowstics and the Rotom Computer over to help. Partway through, it even complained to Yuga, saying that its research was getting more and more complicated and that just two Meowstics weren't enough as assistants. It hoped Yuga could find a few more helpers.

Yuga agreed and decided to ask the Metagross clan later to see if any of them would be willing to come and assist in the lab.

To be an assistant in the lab, one needed to be particularly intelligent, and the Metagross clan's brains were among the most brilliant of all Pokémon.

Because it was so busy studying the Soul-Heart, Mewtwo didn't even have time at noon to touch the Pokéblocks delivered by its assistant Pokémon. Yuga, however, went home for lunch before returning.

But when he came back to the lab, he was shocked to find that Mewtwo had actually dismantled Magearna's Soul-Heart. He immediately rushed over in panic and said, "Why did you take it apart? If something goes wrong, how am I supposed to explain this to them?"

Mewtwo confidently said, "Don't worry, there won't be any problems. I promise I'll put it back together exactly as it was."

"Let's not talk about that—come over and take a look at this first!" Mewtwo suddenly waved Yuga over.

"What is it?" Yuga asked in confusion as he walked over.

What he saw gave him quite a shock.

"Do you recognize what this is?" Mewtwo asked, pointing at the dismantled Soul-Heart.

"This is… a Giant Rock Fragment?"

Yuga never expected that the core of Magearna's Soul-Heart would actually be a modified Giant Rock Fragment. That unique and powerful energy fluctuation was unmistakable to him.

"That's right, it is indeed a Giant Rock Fragment," said Mewtwo.

But it wasn't just a Giant Rock Fragment. There were also all sorts of intricate components inside—very complex—but the core was unquestionably a modified Giant Rock Fragment.

The Giant Rock Fragment inside the Soul-Heart had been polished into a perfect sphere, covered with golden and silver patterns, and it radiated a wave of consciousness. Without question, that wave belonged to Magearna.

However, at this moment, an ominous black mist was entwined around the Giant Rock Fragment. It was precisely because of this black mist's obstruction that Magearna had been unable to truly awaken.

Yuga was just puzzled—where did the Giant Rock fragment used to create this Magearna come from? Could it be that the Magearna on the Nebel Plateau also had a Giant Rock fragment at its core?

And what kind of connection existed between these two Magearna?

In fact, what Yuga didn't know was that although Magearna was created more than five hundred years ago by the Azoth Kingdom scientist Nikola, it wasn't solely his accomplishment.

The Giant Rock was originally brought back to the Pokémon world from space by Rayquaza. When Rayquaza passed through the atmosphere carrying the Giant Rock, a small piece of it was fractured off due to the atmospheric impact and eventually fell onto the Kalos Region, where it was later picked up by Nikola.

The Giant Rock fragment contained mysterious power, and inspired by it, Nikola created Magearna. However, the initial attempt wasn't fully successful.

With the inspiration from a friend, Nikola sought out Xerneas, the God of Life in the Kalos region. With the help of Xerneas's Fairy Aura, Magearna was truly awakened.

This is also why the literature of the Fairy Remnants recorded that Fairy Aura could awaken Magearna.

The friend who inspired Nikola was, in fact, a member of the Fairy Remnants over five hundred years ago. He was also a scientist and had a very close relationship with Nikola. The two of them often discussed research and inventions together.

After Nikola completed Magearna, he still had some Giant Rock fragments left over. He later gave them to this friend, and thus, the second Magearna was born—the guardian Pokémon of the Fairy Remnants.

As Nikola's best friend, this member of the Fairy Remnants knew all the details of how Magearna had been created. So, under the right conditions, it wasn't surprising at all that he could replicate a second Magearna.

It was just that the relationship between these two genius inventors was not widely known. So neither the people of the Azoth Kingdom nor those of the Zenith Academy were aware of it. Naturally, the present-day Yuga couldn't possibly know either.

Looking at the black aura entangled around the Soul-Heart, Yuga asked Mewtwo, "Can this be removed?"

Mewtwo nodded and said, "It's not a big problem."

In reality, this black aura was not so easy to eliminate. Mewtwo said it wasn't a problem only because it was powerful enough. If it were anyone else or another Pokémon, it wouldn't be handled so easily.

The only thing Yuga remained concerned about was the origin of this black aura.

Why had Magearna fallen into slumber? And how had it become invaded by this black aura…? These were all mysteries. Clearly, there were still hidden secrets within the Fairy Remnants that no one knew about.
