I'm Really Not A Nen Exorcist (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 423: Chapter 423 Spider Slayer???

Inside the border checkpoint.

A sturdy, short-haired woman in military uniform was looking calmly at Moses who was approaching through the rain.

The woman, whose face bore a rugged quality, was the officer in charge of this post, Ida Haines.

There was a faintly glowing Aura emanating from her body like steam. There was no doubt that she is a Nen User.

'A professional Blacklist Hunter, huh… The possibility of having the same name is low.'

Ida concentrated her Nen in her eyes, carefully observing Moses who was coming towards her.

It wasn't the Hunter License that made her agree to meet Moses. Instead, it was the name, Moses, the name that had become increasingly renowned recently.

Moses strode toward the checkpoint, the bright lights cutting through the darkness and casting him in a clear glow.

Two armed soldiers approached, lowered their weapons, and said in a calm and polite tone: "Please cooperate with our routine inspection."

"Sure."

Moses raised his hands, allowing one of the soldiers to scan him with a device for the check.

A moment later, the inspection was complete.

The soldier with the device stepped back two paces and said courteously, "Please follow us."

Moses nodded slightly and followed the soldiers. He passed through the checkpoint under the wary gaze of those around him.

The soldiers, both in plain sight and hidden, maintained a state of high alert. Any small disturbance would likely prompt them to act immediately, eliminating any perceived threat.

Moses could clearly sense the sharp vigilance of the surrounding soldiers but paid it no mind. He looked straight ahead and soon spotted a man with well-developed chest muscles...

'No, it's a woman, and a Nen User.

'Judging by the reactions of the nearby soldiers, this woman must be the superior who had agreed to the meeting.'

Moses looked at Ida, who was more than two meters tall, calmly, and a strange look flashed across the depths of his eyes.

For an instant, an image of Biscuit in her transformed state flashed through his mind.

"So, you're the Spider Slayer?"

Ida was sizing Moses up as well, her tone betraying her astonishment.

She had never seen Moses's appearance before, and only heard of the Spider Slayer's name and amazing deeds from her friends.

Now, seeing that Moses was so young, she couldn't help but question her earlier assumption.

"What?"

Moses was stunned for a moment.

'Spider Slayer???'

'What the heck?'

Ida noticed Moses' reaction and slightly furrowed her brows.

As if noticing Ida's shift in demeanor, the highly vigilant soldiers around them tightened their grips on their triggers.

At this moment, a soldier quickly came to Ida with a freshly printed image in his hand.

Moses took a quick glance and discovered that the image on the fax paper was actually himself.

Ida took the image from the soldier and then looked at Moses, thus officially confirming Moses's identity.

"That's right. You really are the Spider Slayer."

"…"

The corner of Moses's mouth twitched slightly, and he soon understood why the other party called him Spider Slayer.

'It was likely because the Phantom Troupe was often referred to as the Spiders, and since I had taken down three of them, the stories must have spread, leading people to give me this strange title.'

"If possible, please call me Moses."

Moses took a deep breath and requested seriously.

Ida, however, remained unmoved and responded, "The name Spider Slayer sounds more pleasant."

As a soldier who hated the Phantom Troupe from the bottom of her heart, Ida found the name Spider Slayer very appealing, after all, it symbolized the death of three Spiders.

Moses fought the urge to retort with something like 'Muscle Barbie'.

Ida ignored Moses's reaction and said, "Let me introduce myself. I'm Ida Haines, and I'm also the officer you wanted to meet. Now, let's get straight to the point."

"I've received information that the Erimo Bandit Group is active in the Taro Region."

Seeing that Ida was direct, Moses wasted no time sharing the so-called important intelligence.

"Hmm?"

Hearing this, Ida's expression changed and she asked in a serious tone, "Are you certain?"

"Of course, after all..."

Moses raised his index finger and calmly said, "This information is worth 100 million Jenny."

As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding soldiers reacted differently. Some were skeptical, while others had their breaths quicken slightly.

But Ida was inclined to believe Moses.

After all, this was information brought by a professional Blacklist Hunter who had killed three members of the Phantom Troupe, concerning another A-Class criminal group.

Moreover, Ida was aware that the Erimo Bandit Group is a group of criminals who preferred to focus their actions on raiding the tombs and ruins of various nations, and the reason why the Taro Region had been locked down is also because an extremely valuable tomb had been discovered.

Ida furrowed her brows and cautiously asked: "So, your motive for coming to Taro Region is..."

"Yes, I'm here to hunt the Erimo Bandit Group."

Moses stated his intentions directly.

Ida's heart sank to the bottom when she heard this.

After all, if a professional Blacklist Hunter like Moses had tracked them to Taro Region, the likelihood of the Erimo Bandit Group being active in the area had just skyrocketed.

"Wait here for a moment."

Ida threw out the statement and swiftly turned away.

She needed to report this highly probable lead to her superiors as quickly as possible.

Back in the tent, Ida picked up the satellite phone and dialed her commanding officer's number.

Before long, the call was connected.

Ida briefly explained the situation, emphasizing that the Erimo Bandit Group was highly likely operating in the Taro Region.

However, her superior on the other end of the phone responded with skepticism.

After all, the defenses within the restricted area were incredibly tight, and even if a fly flies in, it would be noticed.

In order to make her superiors accept her explanation more quickly, Ida directly brought up Moses's reputation as the Spider Slayer. As she knew that her superiors had also been following developments related to the Phantom Troupe.

Then-

The report went smoothly.

Ida put down the satellite phone, walked out of the tent, and quickly walked back toward Moses.

Ten minutes later.

Shizuku and Menchi crossed the checkpoint and rejoined Moses.

Five minutes after that, several military vehicles sped out of the camp, heading toward the tomb excavation site.

Moses, Shizuku, and Menchi were all in one of the vehicles.

After a two-hour journey, the military convoy arrived at the military camp near the tomb excavation site.

Along with Ida, Moses and his companions got out of the vehicle. As they surveyed the heavily guarded camp, their eyes were drawn to the brightly lit excavation area in the distance.

The sheer scale of the operation made them realize just how significant this tomb site was.

"Welcome, Spider Slayer!"

At this moment, a slightly overweight middle-aged officer greeted Moses with open arms and a broad smile as he stepped out of the vehicle.

"General Danny."

Ida and the soldiers stood straight, saluting the man with solemn expressions.

Moses looked at the man, whom the soldiers had addressed as General, and felt a headache coming on.

Meanwhile, deep within a forest.

Several elongated stones lay among the grass, covered in vines.

Whoosh-

Suddenly, a figure appeared out of nowhere above one of the stones.

"Huh?"

The figure landed atop the stone and said with a puzzled look on his face: "Someone tampered with the Divine Script I set up?"
