Chapter 22: The Beginning Was Never the End

Kael, Dr. Alrin, and I lived together as normally as we could.

There was something strange about him... but Kael didn't seem to notice.

Maybe he was just too worried about us — or maybe something else entirely.

"Hey, Kael," I called out.

He turned toward me.

"What is it…?"

Dr. Alrin seemed to be hiding something extraordinary.

And then he activated something.

A portal.

It dragged us in without warning.

"What's going on?!" Kael shouted, completely caught off guard.

As for me… I was too tired.

That thing… it was still there.

When we landed, we found a massive lab.

In the center — a person floating in a glass chamber.

"Father?!"

Both Kael and I blurted it out at the same time, shocked.

"You two were gone for quite a while," Alrin muttered casually.

"Anyway, I caught him while you were sleeping."

"WHAT?!"

Kael immediately grabbed him by the collar.

Meanwhile, I approached the machine and found a strange glowing button labeled Start.

I pressed it.

The water in the chamber slowly drained.

And the man inside — Dr. Error — began to awaken.

The power of the tentacles...

He had fully absorbed it.
