I'm Lara Croft?

Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Lara and Jonah entered the town and headed straight to the bar at the entrance. It was a typical town in the middle of nowhere in the Peruvian jungle, with all the buildings made of wood and the roads composed of stone, mud, and dirt.

Upon entering the local bar, they were greeted by a Peruvian girl with short black hair and brown eyes.

Lara recognized her. 'Oh, it's Abby.'

Abby asked, "Hey guys, are you tourists…?" She stopped mid-sentence when she noticed the bow on Lara and her two pistols strapped to her thighs, as well as the large shotgun on Jonah's back.

Seeing Abby, who looked a bit pale, Lara said, "Don't worry, we're not with Trinity."

"So who are you then?" Abby asked cautiously, her eyes shifting between their weapons.

Lara, who sat at a table and looked out over the town from the terrace, responded, "If you treat me to a beer, I'll tell you."

After Abby grabbed some beers and sat down with Lara and Jonah, Lara took a gulp of her beer and said, "I'm a wealthy second-generation adventurer who loves the thrill of tomb raiding and treasure hunting." Internally, she thought, 'Also stealing things of value from the local lands.'

Pointing to Jonah, she added, "And this is my sidekick, Captain Taco."

Jonah spoke over Lara, saying, "I'm her bodyguard and personal cook. Also, I'm Polynesian, not Hispanic."

Lara looked closely at Jonah and remarked, "To my European eye, you still look Mexican."

"You guys are pretty weird," Abby said, shaking her head slightly.

Jonah ignored Lara's antics and began talking to Abby.

Abby, while eyeing their weapons, asked, "So why are you guys here with all these weapons?"

Jonah responded, "We traversed the jungle on foot to get here, and we want to find Mayan traces here."

Abby was surprised and said, "You guys are pretty insane to come here on foot through the forest. I'm surprised you weren't eaten by a jaguar till now."

'You should have seen the jaguar after it met Lara,' Jonah thought.

Abby leaned forward, concern evident in her voice, "You guys know this is Peru. There was no Mayan civilization here, only a local Inca temple."

After finishing her beer, Lara replied with a confident smile, "I'm pretty sure there is." She then stood up and said, "Jonah, stay here and rest. I am going to check the local temple."

Before Jonah and Abby could respond, Lara had already left, leaving the two of them alone in the bar to chat alone, she did not want to be a third wheel.

As Lara walked through the town, the scent of local cuisine and the sounds of chatter filled the air, but you could see that it was in decay. She looked around and even stopped to talk with some locals about their short-lived oil boom until she found the Incan temple nestled among the dense jungle foliage.

Upon entering, Lara took a moment to survey the ornate carvings and intricate stonework. "Pretty nice," she remarked, pulling out one of her icepicks. The wall in front had a small hole that revealed another wall with the inscription, "Ix Chel and Chak Chel. The twins come together." Remembering the entrance from the game, Lara swiftly swung her icepick, destroying the part of the Incan wall that was covering it and revealing the hidden passage.

Entering, Lara went to the left down the stairs into a room where a mural of a tiger's mouth was painted on one part of the wall. She didn't want to lose time heading to the other temple because she already knew from her memories that behind the tiger mural lay another entrance to the passage to the hidden city.

Taking her adamantium icepicks, she began working on the tiger mouth mural. After some time, she finally destroyed the entire tiger mouth, revealing the full entrance to the passage.

At the same time, Jonah and Abby arrived at the temple and approached Lara, who had just finished. "What is this?" Jonah asked, his eyes wide with curiosity.

"The passage to the ancient city we need to reach," Lara replied, making a small pause. "I am going alone through here. This passage would be pretty hard for someone as big as you." She recalled all the parkour maneuvers required here—diving from dozens of meters, crawling through really narrow underwater caves, and swinging like Tarzan to get around.

"Okay then, I'm gonna try to find another path," Jonah said, scratching the back of his neck.

Abby, who was listening, said to Jonah, "Follow me. I think I know another path. It's longer, but it's easier."

Hearing this, Lara gave a nod before descending the stairs. "See you in the hidden city."

Jonah nodded and followed after Abby, leaving Lara to venture alone.

Running down the stairs, Lara jumped headfirst into the water. Looking around, she saw some light and swam toward it, crawling through a really narrow cave where her body got stuck several times, because of her boobs and ass. Luckily, her superhuman lung capacity prevented her from drowning.

After exiting the narrow cave, she traversed another underwater cave that was larger until she entered the "Trial of the Spider," where she needed to play Tarzan, grappling with her climbing axe.

Upon completing the Trial of the Spider, Lara encountered a large, mechanism-like structure that she needed to climb. "Fuck, the Eagle Trial. I hated this shit in the game," she muttered to herself.

Half an hour later, Lara dove back into the water after finishing the Eagle Trial. She had to play Tarzan once again to traverse beneath a cliff and reach the passage exit above a body of water, where she dove.

"Finally, I finished this passage," Lara said as she emerged from the water, wiping the water from her hair.

As she entered the hidden city, Lara looked around at the stone ruins and houses with hay roofs. The air was thick with the scent of damp stone and earth, and the distant sounds of wildlife echoed through the streets of the hidden city. She heard movements behind her.

Turning around, Lara saw several native men with their bows drawn and aimed at her. 'They mostly have blue and red tattoos and a blue-red color scheme, so they must be Unuratu guys.'

Unuratu is an ally in the game; she is the rightful ruler of the hidden city of Paititi. After the death of her husband, King Sayri, she inherited the throne but was usurped by Amaru, Sayri's brother and the High Priest of the Cult of Kukulkan, who is the leader of high council of trinity. Since then, she has become the leader of a faction of loyalist Paititians who aim to overthrow the Cult and end its centuries-long oppression.

Lara raised her hands slowly, her expression calm. "I'm friendly, so don't shoot."
