I'm A Great Pirate, And You Say I Just Set Sail?

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: The Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit) and the Training Plan

With Edward Newgate officially joining, the White Wolf Pirates now had four crew members. At long last, Rocks wouldn't have to scrub the deck alone—he'd have Newgate to keep him company.

That's right.

Even with a new crewmate, Rocks was still an intern. And now, so was Edward Newgate.

Two future legends of the sea—serving as interns?

Magnus smacked his lips.

Life was really starting to look promising.

After accepting Whitebeard, the long-silent system suddenly flashed a string of messages:

[In Sea Calendar Year 1481, February, you encountered the future Emperor of the Seas, Edward Newgate. He deeply admired your crewmate Rocks#=&... and formally extended an invitation to you.]

["Become my son!"]

[Accept / Decline?]

[Ding~ Congratulations! You've become the father of Edward Newgate!?]

The system panel seemed to glitch for a moment. After freezing, it eventually resumed.

[You have achieved an impossible feat.]

[You have awakened Advanced Kenbunshoku Haki: Future Sight +1s. Confirmed that you have mastered advanced Observation Haki. Reward stacked.]

[You now possess Future Sight (3s).]

Wait—stacked rewards?

Magnus remembered the reward from "defeating" Rocks: mastery of the Six Styles. But his proficiency in the Six Styles had long been maxed, so the reward didn't really boost him further.

But Kenbunshoku Haki was different.

Even though he already had top-tier Observation Haki that allowed him to see into the future, a second of foresight was still a second—and three seconds was far better.

Until now, he could only see two seconds ahead.

Now, thanks to the system, that became three—

A full 50% increase.

So what about Busoshoku Haki?

Magnus recalled there was a system task related to Charlotte Linlin, with a reward of advanced Armament Haki. He hadn't paid much attention, since he already knew advanced usage.

But if he could boost its strength further—even if he still couldn't use Haoshoku Haki no Kairaku (Conqueror's Haki Infusion)—it would still make future battles against foes like Rona or Harald far easier.

At this level, every small improvement in haki, Devil Fruit mastery, physique, or swordsmanship meant a leap in overall power.

And the system wasn't done.

In addition to the haki upgrade and the usual boost to cellular vitality, it also granted a Devil Fruit with a strange swirl pattern—

The Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit)!

Way more generous than the reward for beating Rocks.

"I was just wondering how to find the Gura Gura no Mi for that kid—well, now the system dropped one right into my hands."

Magnus was in a great mood.

Even though Whitebeard without the fruit was already a top-tier haki user, having the fruit was a clear power spike.

Still, he didn't plan to give it to Edward Newgate right away. He wanted to train him first—just like he did with Rocks.

Besides, he also had to consider Rocks' feelings.

Magnus knew what Rocks would one day become—

But Rocks didn't know that.

No matter how much Magnus boasted that haki had more potential than Devil Fruit powers, the early-game boost from a fruit was undeniable.

So Magnus created a training program.

From now on, he'd hold regular lectures for Ripley, Rocks, and Newgate.

After the lecture:

He'd train Ripley,

Ripley would train Rocks,

Rocks would train Newgate.

They'd even hold occasional ranking battles.

Right now, the gap between them was large. But the further they progressed, the harder growth became, and the smaller that gap would get.

Ripley and Rocks aimed to master both Armament and Observation Haki.

Newgate's goal was to master the Six Styles.

Timeline: one year.

Meanwhile, in Sphinx—

Another story was gaining traction.

The White Wolf Pirates had stolen the Heavenly Tribute!

That kind of news couldn't be hidden. Especially since the Navy ship guarding the tribute had dozens of laborers aboard.

With so many witnesses, how could the truth stay buried?

The only reason it hadn't spread earlier was due to the World Government and Navy suppressing it. The theft was a massive blow to the World Government's and Celestial Dragons' prestige.

But now, over a month had passed. And no matter how many times the Government ordered the Navy to capture the White Wolf Pirates—

The sea was vast.

They simply couldn't find him.

So, the news finally reached Sphinx.

"No way! The White Wolf Pirates actually stole tribute meant for the Celestial Dragons?!"

"So that's why there's been so many rare treasures on the black market lately—they were all taken from the Celestials!"

"Hahahaha, serves them right! Damn those Celestial bastards—they had this coming!"

A group of pirates buzzed with disbelief at the White Wolf Pirates' audacity. What they did was nothing less than slapping the World Government in the face.

Had this been before, some might've gotten ideas about stealing the loot. White Wolf Magnus was strong—but could he really fend off all of them at once?

Then came the answer—

Yes. Yes, he could.

The three powerful pirate crews once ruling Sphinx had all been destroyed.

Even if the remaining pirate crews ganged up, they wouldn't last a second.

A legendary pirate!

In the eyes of many, Magnus now possessed the aura of those legendary pirates who once ruled the seas. All he lacked was one thing—

A defining battle.

Defeating a few pirates wasn't enough.

The only way to truly prove one's strength was by defeating—

A Marine Admiral.

"Achoo!"

One of the Navy's three admirals, Red Horse, lounged on a beach chair aboard a warship. Half a month of non-stop pursuit had left him drained.

Even the two gorgeous slave girls beside him couldn't lift his mood.

"Admiral Red Horse, please take it easy. What if we run into the White Wolf Pirates...?"

"Isn't that why I brought you along?"

Admiral Sebas Red Horse shrugged.

"I know White Wolf Magnus better than anyone. If he doesn't play tricks, his strength's not even on your level. Even if he's improved, he's no match for both of us."

"Poor old man like me... about to retire, and still getting dragged out for overtime."
