Chapter 9: Chapter 3.5: The Burden of Blood
The file ended with a photo—blurred and heavily pixelated.
Shi Mu scowled. "Why's his face censored?"
[The image will unlock once you reach the mission target.]
"Why would I need a blurry photo if I'm meeting him in person?"
Still, she dug deeper.
Online searches showed one sensational headline after another:
"Young Killer: 10-Year-Old Slays Stepmother in Cold Blood""Boy Driven by Hatred Over Inheritance""Devil Child or Victim of Circumstance?"
Every image of him was either blurred or censored.
Then she looked up Yingnan High School.
It was located on the edge of Lingcheng—a semi-closed institution known for hosting wealthy, unruly students. Few took their studies seriously. Most were privileged second-generation elites.
Shi Mu closed the browser.
If she wanted to get close to Fu Yunshen, she had to infiltrate that school.
But as a girl, she'd never get close. Fu Yunshen was deeply traumatized. His experiences had left him hostile toward women. If she approached carelessly, she might end up dead.
There was only one solution:
Forge a male identity.
"System, are you sure you won't let me change my gender?"
[No.]
Shi Mu sighed.
This world was harsh—but she wasn't giving up yet.
