I’m a Girl, He’s a Psycho, and This is Fine

Chapter 51: Chapter 25: Beneath the Bed

Zhou Zhi had been acting suspiciously all day.

He kept glancing at his phone during meals, muttering to himself in a dramatic tone like he was rehearsing for a soap opera. His eyes sparkled with wild conspiracy theories, and every time Shi Mo or Fu Yunshen asked what he was doing, he'd smirk mysteriously.

Finally, Shi Mo had had enough.

"Spill it," she said, arms crossed as she blocked the dorm door.

Zhou Zhi grinned like a child about to reveal a magic trick. "Okay, okay. But promise not to laugh."

Fu Yunshen looked up from his book. "You're already funny."

"I'm serious this time," Zhou Zhi declared. "There's treasure under one of our beds."

Shi Mo blinked. "…Treasure?"

"Yes!" Zhou Zhi said, eyes wide. "I overheard the seniors talking about it. A cursed dorm ghost once hid something valuable in this room. I think it's under one of our beds!"

Fu Yunshen stared at him. "You mean our haunted dorm room?"

Zhou Zhi nodded solemnly. "Exactly."

Shi Mo sighed. "You've been watching too many supernatural forums."

Zhou Zhi pouted. "Come on, just check with me. If we find anything, we split it three ways."

"Four ways," Shi Mo corrected, smirking. "We have to give the ghost a cut."

Fu Yunshen stood. "Fine. But if you drag me into a mess, I'm charging ghost exorcism fees."

They started with Zhou Zhi's bed.

He lifted the frame dramatically and flashed his phone flashlight underneath.

Dust. Socks. A missing slipper.

"Wow," Shi Mo said dryly. "The ghost's treasure is lint and laundry."

"Not mine then," Zhou Zhi said, brushing dust off his hands. "Next!"

Shi Mo's bed was next.

She hesitated.

Unlike the others, her secrets weren't under her bed—but in her identity, wrapped in bandages and quiet control.

Still, she stepped aside.

Zhou Zhi dropped to the floor with full detective energy, sticking half his body under the frame.

"Hmm…"

He pulled out a sealed box.

Everyone leaned in.

Then Zhou Zhi opened it.

Inside were… sanitary pads.

Silence.

Shi Mo's face darkened.

Zhou Zhi blinked, then grinned. "Well, well. Our little Shi Mo has a secret girlfriend?"

Fu Yunshen raised an eyebrow.

Shi Mo snatched the box. "They're not mine. And that's private."

Zhou Zhi laughed. "You're blushing!"

"I'm annoyed," she snapped. "There's a difference."

Lastly, they moved to Fu Yunshen's bed.

Zhou Zhi knelt, peering beneath.

Suddenly, he froze.

Shi Mo crouched. "What is it?"

"There's something there…"

He reached under and pulled out a small wooden box.

Unlike the others, it wasn't dusty.

It looked old, sealed with red twine and etched symbols along the sides.

Fu Yunshen frowned. "That's not mine."

Shi Mo's expression changed instantly.

"This… is a spiritual seal," she said softly.

Zhou Zhi took a step back. "Should I not have touched it?"

Shi Mo didn't answer immediately. Her fingers brushed the surface of the box, and the Gu inside her twitched with recognition.

"It's calling..."

Fu Yunshen's voice was steady. "Open it?"

Shi Mo looked up. "Not here. This might be part of what's left behind from the ghost we exorcised."

"A leftover curse?" Zhou Zhi asked.

"Or a memory," Shi Mo said. "Either way, it stayed hidden for a reason."

That night, the box remained sealed, resting at the center of the dorm desk like an unspoken question.

They didn't open it.

Not yet.

Some doors should only be opened with preparation.

And silence.

Shi Mo lay in bed that night, staring at the ceiling.

But the real mystery… was what lay beneath the surface of the people around her.

Especially herself.
