I Was Transported To An Adult Game On My Deathbed

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Servant Boy (2)

It's been a week since I transmigrated to this world.

Since then, I've adapted well to my new working environment. Every day, I wake up slightly before sunrise, conduct a brief sweep of the tavern, and prepare it for the rest of the day.

After that, I head into the back rooms, where I clean the guest rooms. This is a simple process of washing the sheets placed on the wooden bed frames, putting them out to dry, and cleaning up any additional mess the guests may have made.

The entire process takes around two hours, and only after finishing it can I go to the kitchen to claim my breakfast.

However, as of late, I've picked up an additional task in the morning.

"Kayle, hurry up and wash the dishes, then help me prep the ingredients!" a brutish voice shouted.

"Yes, Chef!" I replied, proficiently shifting from sweeping the floor to washing the dishes.

I was currently helping out the brothel's only chef in the kitchen—a task I had willingly sought out on my own.

"Kayle, are you still not done with the dishes?!" Boarrat's voice blasted out as I once again swiftly transitioned from washing dishes to peeling and cutting vegetables.

Boarrat was the chef, though Boarrat wasn't his actual name. People started calling him that a long time ago due to his boar-like body and rat-like face. Since no one used his real name, most have forgotten it, Boarrat included.

"Kayle, I'm ready for the ingredients!"

"Yes, Chef! Right away!"

Finishing up the last bit of vegetables, I walked over to Boarrat, who had been sitting down this entire time.

This lazy rat...

"Ah, nicely done, Kayle." Boarrat got up from his chair, which creaked as if relieved of a great weight.

"As promised, I'll prepare an extra serving of food for you in return for your work," Boarrat said, ruffling my already messy hair with his large hand.

"Thank you, Chef."

With Boarrat's promise secured, I humbly bowed, grabbed my already-prepared breakfast, and walked out.

A few days ago, I made a promise with Boarrat, trading my help in the kitchen for more food. I made this deal because I realized just how poor the nutritional value of the meals here were.

Although I usually get three meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—I might as well only be getting one out of those three meals in terms of nutrition.

If I wanted to improve my physique, the first thing I needed to do was improve my diet. After all, no amount of training would help without the nutrition to support it.

Although the one extra meal didn't do much in terms of improving my diet, it was still better than nothing.

After finishing my second breakfast, which consisted of brick-hard bread and gruel, I was free for the next few hours.

Customers usually don't start coming in until the evening, and it was only roughly 9 AM after finishing everything. My next shift starts around 3 PM, where I'll have to be here to guide customers and clean up rooms after they're done with them.

"Phew, I guess I should go check up on the girls now."

After eating, I filled up a large basin with water from the nearby well and laboriously hauled it upstairs, another routine I had recently picked up.

Taking a right at the top, I went down a short corridor before arriving at a worn-down wooden door. Placing the bucket on the ground, I took a moment to catch my breath before gently knocking on the door three times.

After waiting a few seconds, the door slowly swung open, revealing the figure of an older woman on the other side.

Her curly blonde hair stretched down to her slim waist, accentuating her naturally curvy figure. Gentle sapphire-blue eyes gazed at me as a soft smile spread across her face.

"Oh, Love, here to visit us again?" she spoke in a pleasant yet groggy tone, probably having only recently woken up.

"I brought the water for you and the others to wash up."

She giggled softly at my response, her gentle gaze sweeping over me like a kind mother watching over the actions of her child.

This was Lena, the eldest "sister" of the Midnight Inn, and the person who looks after the rest of the girls the most. Her kindness is so much that it even extends to a lowly servant boy like myself.

"Thank you, Love. Your help these past few days really means a lot to us," Lena said as she gently patted my head, which made me feel slightly uncomfortable inside.

I mean, if we count the experience of my past life and this one combined, I was already mentally over forty.

The feeling of having a woman patting my head at this age just felt a little... off.

Shaking off her hand, I gently patted my ruffled hair back into place.

"Do you want me to bring the basin inside?" I asked but saw Lena slowly shake her head in response.

"No need. I'll wake up the rest of the girls in a moment and get Kana to haul it back in."

"Mhm," I nodded in understanding, "Call me when everyone is done so Nana and I can start cleaning."

Lena nodded softly in response as she closed the door.

Stretching a bit, I went downstairs to the kitchen, where I helped Boarrat prepare the girls' breakfast.

Roughly an hour later, a young girl came running down the stairs. Her chestnut-colored hair was braided into two short twin tails with light freckles covering her face.

She looked around with her hazel-colored eyes before spotting me sitting by one of the tavern tables with a few trays of food already prepared on it.

"Kayle!" she called out as she approached me, a pleasant smile on her face.

This was Nana, the youngest of the girls and also the only other servant girl who helps me out with daily chores since she was too young to work with the rest of her "sisters."

She was also one month younger than me, making her similarly fourteen years old.

She walked up to me with a slight perk in her steps.

"We're ready for you to come up now," she said after stopping in front of me, her arms clasped behind her back.

'Honestly, I don't know where she gets so much energy from in this hellhole...'

Getting up from the chair, I put it back in place before pointing toward the tray of food laid out on the table. "Help me carry it up?"

"Sure!"
