CHAPTER : 45
Episode 45.
‘Even in the imperial palace, I thought she could run around like a fearless foal, but she’s quite elegant. I wonder if she was chosen by the gods for nothing. Hehehe.
Thinking that his worries were unfounded, the emperor smiled wryly.
“I’m sure you’ve already guessed why I invited you here.”
“I thought I had called you here to do a public service by slaying warlocks and providing relief to the poor.”
“You are right, Saint, I am the Emperor of my empire, but I am incompetent to care for my people. So I am grateful to you for caring for my people where I have failed.”
“You are too kind, Your Majesty, but I did what I could as a saint to help.”
“Heh, heh, heh. How humble.”
Looking at the emperor smiling with satisfaction, Sierra inwardly shivered.
* * *
“I’m going to die.
In Crazy Saint, I’m the one who uses divine power to kill the emperor and empress sitting there.
I know it’s not real, but I feel like I killed them just for the sake of it, and my conscience prickles.
I thought, “Is this what fiction overdose is?
It’s so crazy, it’s like a frenzy.
Even the others are looking at me with smiles on their faces.
‘Ahhh…….’
I shuddered, glancing to the side to avoid the Emperor and Empress’ gaze, and then gasped.
“……!”
The crown prince, who always seemed to have a smirk, was staring down at me with inorganic eyes.
His gaze is the coldest I’ve ever experienced, freezing me to the bone, and he’s wearing a false smile.
I would have preferred an expressionless face.
My heart pounded in my chest again.
‘Why is he looking at me like that?
I felt embarrassed.
I’ve received a lot of resentment, fear, impatience, and anger, but I’ve never received a look like this.
It’s like looking at an iron-clad water fountain. If not that, then the eyes of a hunter looking at his prey.
A chill runs down my spine and crawls up the back of my neck, threatening to grab my throat and choke me at any moment.
I wanted to run, to get the hell out of here.
Just then, the Emperor, who had finished speaking with Iros, turned to me.
“So, will you join us for lunch?”
“…….”
“A saint?”
“Ah.”
I blinked, startled out of my reverie by the sound of my name being called.
Turning my head, I saw the Emperor and Empress looking at me with worried eyes.
A stupid sound escaped my mouth.
“You called for me?”
“Heh, heh, heh. Well, well, well. I don’t think you’ve been listening to me all this time.”
“I’m sorry, could you say that again?”
I asked, the tips of my ears turning red with embarrassment, but the Emperor and Empress smiled warmly and waved me off as if they were offended that I was talking to myself.
“Don’t apologize, I was hoping to invite you to luncheon. Our chef is quite skillful. I’m sure you’ll like it.”
“Thank you for the invitation.”
Damn. I’m going to lose weight at lunch today.
I bowed my head slightly and chewed my tongue invisibly.
Whether I realized it or not, the room was filled with warmth.
“I’m glad you’ve accepted my invitation to dine, Saint. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to ask the chef to exert himself.”
“You’re excited.”
“Of course I am. Since you’re such a special guest, I’ll have to show off my skills with the meat pies, right?”
“I’m sure your cooking skills are as good as the chef’s, so I’m looking forward to it.”
“Oh my. Fritzie, what a girl. Ho ho ho.”
Amid my laughter, my face went blank as my soul drained out of me in real time.
I’m barely standing, an almost empty shell, and the Empress claps her hands in unison, smiling her best human smile.
“Oh, look at my spirit. Did I bore you with just talking about us?”
“Not at all, Your Majesty.”
“Freehi! What are you standing around for? Why don’t you escort the holy lady and show her around the palace gardens or something!”
“As I ought, sir, for she is an honored guest.”
“Oh, no. I’m fine-”
“Save the people, capture the warlock. You’re a saint, and you’ll do anything for your country.”
“…….”
Uh……. Horses have bones? I thought I told you so.
It’s the kind of thing that makes your conscience prickle.
It was all a small (?) effort to improve my reputation and avoid a death sentence.
Anyway, I had no reason to refuse, so I cried and agreed to eat the mustard, and managed to escape by holding the crown prince’s hand.
‘Haha, now you can breathe a little.’
The crown prince is still uncomfortable, but it’s a little more breathing room than being in the presence of the emperor and empress, who are all happy to see me.
As we reached the beautiful flowering gardens, someone grabbed my hand from behind and pulled me along.
I didn’t have to look back to realize that the person with the lukewarm body temperature was Iros.
My arm loosened from the crown prince I was escorting.
“Pink?”
I looked up at Iros, and the empty-handed crown prince looked down at his empty arm, then up at Iros.
“What are you doing, Lord Iros?”
Iros shot back, undeterred by the crown prince’s words.
“I’m escorting my Lady to her home.”
“Why?”
“Pink?”
No, what’s wrong with her?
From the side, his eyes are slightly upturned. My little Shunding shouldn’t be so angry.
I’ve never seen Iros show this much hostility towards someone who isn’t an enemy.
His grip on my hand is so tight that he won’t let go.
The crown prince must have sensed it too, because he smiles coyly.
“When you act like a dog wary of being taken away from its master, my mischievous side comes out.”
What’s the matter with you, can’t you see that my Pink is looking away now?
“It’s just that when you tell me not to do something, I want to do it more.”
The crown prince smirked and stalked over. Iros was instantly on guard, tucking me behind him.
“Don’t come any closer.”
“Well, she doesn’t belong to you, so there shouldn’t be any problem with me approaching her, should there?”
“…….”
The crown prince smirked, and Iros clamped his mouth shut, gripping my hand tighter to keep me from being taken away.
It was almost pitiful, the struggle to keep me from being taken away.
“You make it sound like I’m some kind of villain who wants to take what’s yours. I’m not like that at all.”
“Then why do I feel like you’re going to take the saint out of me?”
“Well, I don’t know why; you know better than I do.”
The crown prince mumbled something unintelligible, and when we stared at him, he shrugged.
“Don’t you think it’s a bit greedy of you to try and hold onto her like that when you and the Saint aren’t even lovers?”
“It doesn’t matter because I belong to the Saint anyway, and you’re the first stranger I’ve seen today, so I’m sure you’ll mind.”
“What if I don’t want to?”
The crown prince laughed leisurely and taunted.
“I’d like to get to know the saint better.”
“You don’t need to know, because after today, I’m not coming to the palace again.”
“Is that so? I’m sure you’ll be seeing her quite often now that your father thinks so fondly of her.”
I narrowed my eyes as I listened to the two men’s conversation.
“What’s wrong with you two, I’m not moving, I must have eaten something wrong.
Iros had severe separation anxiety and was naturally jealous. The crown prince, I don’t know what’s wrong with him.
When we were in the real world, he was looking at me with those scary eyes and smiling mouths, and now he’s acting like we’re friends.
There’s no way he could have fallen in love with my beauty when there’s a much more beautiful woman in front of him in the mirror.
‘I’m just a sack of shit, what do you think of me, the party?
Why didn’t anyone ask me?
I was mortified. I was so frustrated that I couldn’t wait for lunchtime to arrive, much less to get caught up in this stupid argument.
Maybe with food in their mouths, they’d be quieter, both of them.
“Oh, by the way.
As I stood between Iros and the crown prince, preoccupied with their argument, I looked at them as if I were a spectator.
Was it an optical illusion, as if a flower had just burst into bloom in mid-air, its petals waving brightly?
The two beauties, unusually different from each other in the world, were so close together that it looked like a battle of flowers.
‘They’re killing all the flowers in the garden, they’re killing them.’
The innocent and pretty Iros and the gorgeous, intensely eye-catching, and handsome crown prince were as opposite in attractiveness as their different hair colors.
Come to think of it, the crown prince was the most beautiful man in the world of The Crazy Saint.
‘After all, the crown prince seems to be the more beautiful of the two.
My mouth dropped open, and I was thinking harshly, but then I came to my senses.
I’m not that kind of girl! I’m not going to fall for a beauty queen, you bastards!
I quickly raised my hand and slapped my cheeks, and the sound made the two men’s heads snap back to me.
“Hahaha.”
The corners of my mouth tilted in a quick smile, embarrassed by the sudden attention.
They say you can’t spit on a smiling face.
Whether I did or not, Iros and the crown prince looked at me with the same pathetic, disdainful stare, as if they’d been photocopied and stuck in place.
I stiffened at the look and made a small protest.
“Why, why, I wasn’t thinking of anything, I swear.”
“You must have had another strange thought.”
“You must have thought of something else because you can’t look at anything pretty.”
“Ahhhhhh. That’s a nice compliment. It’s not that I’m aesthetically inclined… What? What did you just say?”
I looked at the crown prince, my eyes widening in disbelief.
Iros was with me in the temple for nine years, so he’s seen it firsthand(?), but how does the crown prince know?
If you don’t tell him and keep your mouth shut, no one will know.
“How did you know I’m into pretty things? Is it the palace’s intelligence?”
“Who doesn’t like pretty things? Besides, I’m the most beautiful woman in the empire, according to the newspapers.”
“I suppose that’s true, but…….”
“Well, if you’re done walking, I’ll let you have the guest room so you can rest.”
“Thank you for your consideration.
Well, I’m finally going to rest.
Mental fatigue had built up quite a bit, and I couldn’t wait to get some rest, so I agreed.
In the meantime, Iros had the air of a winner, holding my hand tightly and strutting off to the guest room.
How cute.
