Chapter 574: The Assembly of the Gods
Late at night, in the main world, the Floating City, within the main temple of the God of Life and Creation.
The Chief Priest of the Avalon people, Rupert, was devoutly praying, and soon his prayers summoned a divine response.
In the temple's sky, a massive rift appeared, followed immediately by a brilliant beam of light descending from the heavens, illuminating the dim Floating City!
This beam was not merely light, but a manifestation of Life Divine Power, a source of energy perfectly absorbable by all living beings.
On the ground, grass and flowers grew rapidly, and trees that had withered due to seasonal change sprouted new buds once again.
The Avalon people, bearing scars and ailments from labor and battle, felt their wounds heal and their pain vanish...
For some gods, their very arrival is a blessing!
"Praise You, mighty God of Life and Creation!" "You are the Father of all living beings, praise You, who spreads Your grace across every corner of the Earth!"
All over the city, the Avalon people knelt down, thanking God for His gifts. Chief Priest Rupert also knelt in terror, then he explained the reason for his prayers for divine intervention.
"Mighty Lord, according to our divination and exploration, something major has happened in the Undead Kingdom at the world's edge..."
"Indeed, the Lord of Death has fallen!"
A deep, resonant voice, indistinguishable between male and female, echoed from the heavens.
However, for higher-dimensional beings, gender is not important.
Upon hearing this news, Chief Priest Rupert was both delighted and horrified.
He was delighted because the Lord of the Undead and the mighty God of Life and Creation were not on good terms. There had been significant friction between them, even to the extent that a war of gods might have erupted, and now a threat had been eliminated.
But he was horrified that such a powerful deity, a controller of death, comparable in strength to the mighty Lord, could also fall!
Though conflicted by these intertwining emotions, Chief Priest Rupert swiftly recovered and hastily inquired, "Mighty Lord, should we do something?"
This was undoubtedly a perfect chance to kick an enemy while they were down, and with the fall of the Lord of the Undead, his domain was leaderless. Being not far from the Undead Kingdom, they undoubtedly could seize a head start!
"No, nothing needs to be done!" the voice of the God of Life and Creation boomed again, directly dismissing Rupert's idea.
The bait was indeed tempting, but the risks were not small...
After all, numerous gods were aware of this tidbit of information, and one of the chief gods had already taken notice of the situation. He was well aware that getting involved in this conflict might not yield many benefits.
Although the God of Life and Creation offered no explanation, a god's command is supreme. Chief Priest Rupert immediately responded, "I will follow Your will, mighty Lord!"
The God of Life and Creation was immensely pleased, and a boundless light suddenly flooded into Rupert's body, quickly integrating within him.
"Thank you for Your blessing, mighty Lord!" Rupert said, overwhelmed with emotion.
"There may soon be a new war of the gods. Do not get involved and do nothing unnecessary..." the God of Life and Creation instructed again, but soon his voice was cut off.
For He sensed a summoning from one of the chief gods!
It seemed that events were unfolding in an unexpected new direction.
After a moment's hesitation, the God of Life and Creation reassured the High Priest briefly, and soon the light that had descended on the Floating City receded.
It appeared he had no choice but to get involved in this affair.
...
The Temple of All Gods, towering in the gap between the main world and the Endless Void, a place where the concept of time does not exist and is the venue for the councils of the gods.
Except for the summons of a chief god, on ordinary days, no god wishes to descend here.
The last time he visited this place was seven hundred years ago!
The God of Life and Creation, upon arriving here, transformed into the appearance of an Avaral.
Gods have no fixed form, but for the sake of convenience and gathering faith, they usually appear in the form they had before achieving divinity, or in the form imagined by their believers.
This time, it was clear he was not the only one summoned, as the God of Life and Creation felt the presence of no less than forty powerful auras the moment he entered the great hall.
At the deepest part of the hall, a huge shadow emerged in the void, its true face unclear, emanating a terrifying pressure. The surrounding space-time seemed unable to withstand its arrival, becoming chaotic and distorted.
The only thing the God of Life and Creation could make out was a strange symbol on the forehead of this chief god, resembling an eye.
"Lord Morags!" the God of Life and Creation respectfully greeted.
The chief god within the Temple of All Gods, Morags, without any pleasantries, looked directly at the dozens of deities gathered and bluntly said, "The Lord of Death, Danates, has fallen!"
This news was not unexpected, as the chaos in the Undead Kingdom was well known.
And the struggle for the 'legacy' left by th Lord of Death had already began, with many gods setting their sights on these unclaimed realms. No one dared to make a move lightly, only sending their believers to the Undead Kingdom as a probe.
Now, with chief god Morags suddenly summoning them, many deities were worried whether their plans to seize the Death Divine Domain would be affected.
The God of Life and Creation also felt extremely puzzled; he had no particular interest in the 'legacy' left by the Lord of Death, as usually, the chief gods would not interfere in the ownership of realms.
This time, however, seemed to be an exception...
Chief god Morags, unconcerned with the gods' thoughts, caused the chaotic and twisted space in the temple to split open, revealing a dark passage that connected directly to the Undead Kingdom.
The next moment, ripples appeared in the twisted space-time, and a summoned Stitched Sovereign stepped out from the distorted Space-Time Gate.
Its form was even more bizarre than the twisted space-time, seemingly made up of countless different corpses; its left arm a long dragon tail and its right hand a scythe-like sharp claw, measuring over seventy meters in size!
Yet compared to its massive body, the actions of this stitched creature were extremely cautious, as if fearful that its ugliness and filth would desecrate the sacred hall.
Being a ninth ring legendary being, it undoubtedly had reached the epitome of the mundane, but the Stitched Sovereign was acutely aware that any god in the hall could crush it with merely a flick of their finger.
Thus, its actions were highly restrained, and upon entering the hall, it immediately knelt down without hesitation, although the motion looked somewhat comical with its short legs.
"To the great Lord, my master Danates met with an accident while conquering a new realm, which involved the Moon Goddess Diana who had broken away from the main world..." The summoned Stitched Sovereign clearly knew the reasons the high gods had summoned it, and promptly relayed everything it knew.
It explained in great detail – from the reasons the Lord of Death sought Diana who left the main world, to dispatching the great lich Cecil to investigate the Moon God Domain, to discovering a new realm.
"That newly appointed Moon God kept hidden within the divine domain and took no action until the Lord of Death opened a passage between the two worlds. He then attacked suddenly and completely closed off the space-time passage..."
The Stitched Sovereign did not know the events that followed; it did not witness the Lord of Death's fall. However, the undead stranded in the Moon God Domain were slaughtered by the new Moon God, with hardly one in ten managing to escape back to the Undead Kingdom. If not for its luck, it would probably have been crushed into dust by now!
Hearing that the Lord of Death had died so ingloriously, a few gods who were hostile to him felt a little schadenfreude. They had previously thought their adversary had encountered a formidable foe and didn't even have a chance to escape. Now, it seemed he had simply been too foolish and been tricked.
However, the God of Life and Creation thought differently. While capturing new realms, cases of gods disastrously failing weren't unheard of since leaving their divine domains meant significantly reduced powers, but now two gods had fallen in a foreign realm consecutively, and that was cause for concern.
The Lord of Death might have been caught off guard and ambushed, but not only had the Moon God died, his divinity had also been stolen. This new realm clearly wasn't as simple as it seemed.
As the God of Life and Creation pondered, the Stitched Sovereign again spoke and revealed a shocking piece of news. "Great Lord, my master Danates once mentioned that the realm discovered by Moon Goddess Diana might potentially be a large-scale realm."
As soon as this statement was made, a fervent light appeared in the eyes of the gods present, including the God of Life and Creation; this was a temptation no ambitious god could resist.
A large-scale realm meant many things, such as complete laws and a massive amount of energy. If one could fully control it, one might even hope to ascend to the chief god's position!
No wonder the Moon God had so abruptly detached his divine domain from the main world.
Initially, he thought the Moon God did so out of fear of the Lord of Death initiating a divine war, seeking survival by this means. Now, it appeared it was to monopolize this large-scale realm.
Even the rumors might have been purposely spread by Diana.
The consecutive falls of two gods was no longer surprising; a large-scale realm capable of birthing some extremely powerful entities was not an impossible scenario.
The God of Life and Creation quickly suppressed the desires emerging in his heart, realizing this large-scale realm was clearly targeted by chief god Morags. This must be the reason he had called them here...
