I Choose In The One Piece Class, Do I Have A Choice?

Chapter 11: Smoker Obstruction

"What's there to think about? Besides snatching her, what else can I do? I don't have the authority to mobilize her to my side," Finn pouted, subtly hinting to Garp that he could use his power to mobilize her.

Garp caught the hint. Right, mobilize her! I've got the authority as a Vice Admiral of Naval Headquarters. It should be easy to transfer a Marine soldier.

But Garp wasn't going to let Finn off that easily. This little brat should promise me something in return, he thought as he rolled his eyes.

Putting his arm around Finn's shoulders, Garp asked with a smile, "Are you sure you're interested in that girl?"

"Absolutely!" Finn nodded without hesitation.

"If you want Grandpa's help, it's possible. But you've got to promise me something—strengthen your resolve as a Marine from now on!"

Garp had always dreamed of raising a Marine descendant. Now that Finn was the only one in the Monkey family following that path, Garp couldn't afford to let him slip away.

"Is that all? Sure, I promise!"

"Not so fast. Swear on the thing you care about most!"

"Alright! I swear, if I ever stop wanting to be a Marine, let the thunder strike my dear Grandpa dead!" Finn raised three fingers, swearing solemnly.

Garp's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "You little b*****d!"

He immediately swung his "fist of love" at Finn.

But Finn quickly dodged using Shave, and asked with a wounded expression, "Grandpa, why did you hit me?"

"You brat! I told you to swear by something important, not to swear that something bad would happen to me!" Garp fumed, ready to strike again.

"You've got it all wrong, Grandpa!" Finn protested. "Didn't you say to swear on the thing I care about most? And Grandpa, in my heart, that's you!"

Finn wrapped his arm around Garp's shoulders, giving him a playful wink.

"..."

Garp rolled his eyes again. This brat sure knows how to talk!

But wait... "You little b*****d! Are you calling Grandpa a 'thing'?"

"Huh?" Finn was genuinely puzzled. "Isn't it?"

Boom!

Garp punched the air in frustration, while Finn broke out in a nervous sweat. That was close! Grandpa's fist speed is insane—barely had time to dodge even with advanced Shave!

Finn recalled how he and Luffy used to get pummeled by Grandpa when they were kids. Only Ace got hit less often. Luffy, clueless as always, would complain to Grandpa about not hitting Ace enough, but all that earned him was more "fists of love"...

But Finn never questioned it. He knew that Ace was different because he was brought to them under special circumstances. Even so, Finn had never treated Ace as an outsider.

"You little b*****d! Who are you calling 'not a thing'?" Garp was fuming.

"Grandpa, tell me, are you a thing or not?"

"..."

Garp's face turned red with frustration. He rubbed his head and growled, "Let's drop this nonsense!"

"So, should I still swear the oath or not...?"

"Forget it!"

"Then, should I just snatch her, or are you going to transfer her?"

"..."

Garp gritted his teeth, feeling like he'd been outmaneuvered by his grandson again. However, for the sake of keeping Finn on the path of a Marine, he grunted, "Come with me!"

"Grandpa, you're the best!" Finn cheered, following him with a grin.

When they re-entered the room, the officers in Logue Town stood up to greet Garp.

"At ease," Garp said, motioning for them to sit down.

"Vice Admiral, all the reports you requested are here." Tashigi handed over a report, but she couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her.

She turned to see Finn standing beside Garp, giving her a cheeky wink.

"Um..."

Tashigi smiled politely at Finn.

Garp took the report and nodded. "This report is well-written. Colonel Smoker, you've done a good job maintaining order in Logue Town."

"Thank you, Vice Admiral," Smoker replied, clearly flattered by the praise from the legendary Marine hero.

Meanwhile, Finn discreetly pinched Garp behind his back, urging him to move things along.

Garp shot him a glare but cleared his throat. "The report is well-organized. Who wrote it?"

It was evident from Garp's tone that doing this was out of his comfort zone.

"I did, Vice Admiral," Tashigi replied respectfully. She had always admired the legend of Garp and now, meeting him in person, she couldn't help but feel excited.

"Oh? You did?"

Garp's acting was far from convincing, but he continued anyway. "Well done, young lady. How would you like to work as an assistant at Naval Headquarters?"

Naval Headquarters! The offer made Tashigi's heart race. Serving at Naval Headquarters was every Marine soldier's dream! But she didn't respond immediately. After all, she was currently under Smoker's command, and accepting such an offer might seem disloyal.

Even though Tashigi tried to contain her excitement, Smoker noticed. His heart sank—he had a strong sense of being outmaneuvered. Tashigi was an excellent subordinate, and Smoker wasn't willing to let her go. Although he never openly expressed it, Smoker had developed feelings for Tashigi.

The age difference between them made a direct confession impossible, so he had kept her close, hoping that shared battles would help develop their "relationship." But now, just as his plan was beginning to take shape, someone else was swooping in to take her away?

How could Smoker accept this?

"Vice Admiral, don't you already have an assistant?" Smoker glanced pointedly at Bogart, implying that Garp didn't need another one.

Finn felt a wave of annoyance. This old stiff is really getting in the way!

In the original storyline, Smoker was determined to capture Luffy, stubborn to a fault. Now, he's blocking Finn's plans again? What's his problem? Did we ever eat your rice or mess with your life?

Finn stepped forward. "Grandpa already has an assistant, but I don't!"

He turned to Tashigi with a grin. "Miss, I'm going to be the future King of the Marines. If you become my assistant, you'll be the King's right hand!"

Tashigi couldn't help but giggle, assuming Finn was just joking.

But Smoker was immediately on high alert. He realized that this situation involved the young master of the Monkey family! Respectfully, he addressed Garp, "Vice Admiral, if Tashigi were to become your assistant, I'd have no objections. But if she's going to be Mr. Finn's assistant..."

Smoker paused, then continued firmly, "I must refuse!"
