chapter 179
179 – Episode 179 Attack (Revised)
Episode 179: Attack
Lawrence, the head of the ‘Black Knife’ guild, who received a request from Marlborough to kidnap the former Empress, gathered together some of the most prominent figures in the guild and headed to Keynham.
“As you know, if you succeed this time, you can receive an additional 500 gold! So, stay alert!”
Lawrence sent two guild members skilled in scouting to near Keynham in advance. Then, she and her guild members discovered several paths connecting Cain Ham and Del Rasson.
What Lawrence wanted was the only passage. She planned to lie in ambush there and then immediately ambush Empress Sun when she discovered her carriage.
A simple but guaranteed success rate.
They wandered around for two days, looking for a way,
“Leader. I think we can ambush there.”
One guild member found a good location. He followed his subordinate and examined the place for himself.
Clearly, there was no other road in sight other than this one, and there were even bushes growing on both sides of the road.
It was truly the perfect location for an ambush.
Lawrence personally told his men where to lay an ambush. While I was giving operational orders, two of my subordinates who had gone on a scouting mission returned two days later.
“Leader. “I looked around the mansion and the estate for about a day, but it doesn’t seem like they are bringing an escort.”
“No escort?”
“Yes. “I couldn’t see it at all.”
The subordinate bowed his head.
This is a truly rare situation.
Lawrence muttered to himself. Still, if she is a person of the level of Empress Sun, it is reasonable for the imperial family to send a knight to guard her…
‘Are you abandoned?’
Just as Lawrence was lost in her thoughts her, her subordinate her, her her raised his voice her her her.
“Leader. “What should I do?”
“What should I do?”
Lawrence raised one corner of her mouth to just below her ear.
“It actually worked out well. The prey wants me to be captured.”
“Right?”
Lawrence shook her head once at her subordinate who asked her question.
What is so important about the circumstances of the person being kidnapped? All I had to do was successfully complete her request and take the money.
“Everyone, it’s a big issue, so do it right!”
“Yes, Captain.”
“Stand by at your respective positions!”
As soon as Lawrence’s order was given, her guild members scattered in perfect order. He went to the best location and hid his body after all the guild members had hid.
Now there was the only one thing they had to do.
Waiting with bated breath until the prey passes by.
* * *
The postmaster, who set off with Cecilia’s reply, arrived at Cainham’s mansion four days after Luna and the others arrived.
“Your Majesty the late Empress. Here is a reply from Her Majesty Empress Cecilia.”
“Okay. “I was waiting for this.”
Olivia greeted her postmaster in the first floor drawing room, not in her room.
When the postmaster handed her a letter in an imperial envelope, she looked at it for a moment. Smoothing the envelope with her thumb, she took a trip back to her imperial past.
But it was only a fleeting moment.
Olivia broke the seal with a paper knife and held the letter in her hands.
“…”
Olivia read the text with a calm expression. The postmaster quietly drank the tea in front of her and observed her appearance.
Before long, the corners of Olivia’s mouth her gently rose.
It seems that His Majesty wrote that he would like to see it.
He guessed the content of her letter from her, her expression, her her, and it turned out to be correct. In addition, it contained her worry and longing for her mother.
Olivia let out a soft breath and folded her letter in half. She put it back in her envelope and handed it over to her waiting maid.
“I guess I should prepare to leave for the imperial palace in two days.”
“Can I get ready right now?”
“Huh. You can prepare slowly.”
After giving her instructions, Olivia turned her gaze to the postmaster sitting across from her.
“How do you plan to return?”
“I plan to go back on horseback.”
“Well. “I’ll take a day off and go.”
“I am so grateful for her mercy.”
Olivia told her maid to escort her postmaster to her guest room. As he left the drawing-room with her maid, she looked down at her correspondence which Olivia had placed on her round table.
“I’m looking forward to meeting you.”
She murmured in a low yet gentle tone and closed her eyes.
* * *
Two mornings later.
A dark blue carriage carrying Olivia and one of her maids to assist her departed for the imperial palace.
It looked like there were no guards around the carriage, but in fact, there were 10 Luna members wearing invisibility cloaks around.
Olivia wanted to arrive at the imperial palace as soon as possible. So even in the middle of the night, they moved along a quiet road.
“Your majesty. You look very tired.”
The maid dozed off and cast her worried gaze towards Olivia, who was trying to take a nap.
“Okay. You shouldn’t overdo it. “If we see a village, let’s go and rest.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The maid gave Olivia’s instructions to her coachman.
Not long after that.
Boom!
Immediately after the loud noise, the carriage tilted sharply. As a result, Olivia and her maid fell into the carriage.
It was because the Black Knife guild members attacked the carriage and horses at the same time.
‘Oh no!’
Lucia clicked her tongue when she saw the carriage overturned next to her. Even though she was on full alert, she was unable to respond properly because the situation occurred so suddenly.
However, like a veteran, Lucia quickly came to her senses and gave instructions to the crew.
“Ilaina, Nellie, Lovell! Forward to the carriage!”
Three Luna members rushed towards the front of the carriage at the same time. There, three enemies were trying to decapitate the fallen coachman. However, once they swept in, the enemies instantly fell to the ground with blood spraying out.
The enemy is killed on the spot.
This was one of Luna’s basic principles.
Lucia instructed the rest of her crew to hunt down the enemies still hiding.
The rest of the crew jumped into the thick bushes without hesitation.
‘I think it was probably aimed at His Majesty.’
In that case, her job her is to protect her her her her Empress Sun her.
It seemed clear that the enemies were not as strong as themselves anyway. Lucia first jumped onto the carriage.
“Your majesty!” Are you okay!”
Even when Lucia shouted, Empress Sun and her maid showed no reaction. She fainted due to a sudden shock.
Lucia decided to first rescue the Empress Sun and her maid. In any case, the crew would clean up the surroundings in just a little while, so the most important thing was to make them calm.
Lucia called in one of her crew members. She then got into the carriage and pushed her maid out first.
Next, Lucia lifted up the late Empress. She was carefully picked up by a member of the crew waiting above and pulled out of her carriage.
‘Has the situation been sorted out?’
When Lucia was about to get out of the carriage, the crew member on top of her was thrown away.
“!”
Lucia soon found out why. Someone suddenly swung her sword at her crew, and in the process of blocking it, she was sent flying far away.
‘Was there a talented person?’
The man lifted the late Empress from the carriage and jumped down.
‘It’s not an average bet.’
Lucia also climbed straight onto the carriage. As soon as she saw the man running away through the bushes, Lucia immediately chased after him.
“Stand there!”
Lucia shouted, but the man just ran away.
The goal was to kidnap Her Majesty Empress Sun.
The man’s speed gradually became slower as he made his way through the bushes. On the other hand, Lucia’s pursuit speed became faster and faster.
It was because he ran along the same path that the man had taken.
Eventually, Lucia succeeded in rescuing the Empress Sun from her man. But this was not the end of the situation.
As soon as she placed Empress Sun on her back, she aimed her dagger at her man.
She said, “I had no idea she had such a strong bodyguard…”
Lawrence, a man muttering as if he was in trouble.
Lucia glared at him with her young eyes.
“I can’t believe there was someone who dared target Her Majesty, the late Empress. “Reveal her identity.”
“I can’t help it.”
The man fired the longsword he was wearing at his waist
It was a confrontation where the dagger seemed to be at a disadvantage to anyone, but Lucia didn’t care. It was a virtue that he had the skill to subdue most opponents with just a single dagger.
“Who instigated it?”
“You can never say that.”
Lawrence held the hilt of her sword with both hands, poised to swing it at any time.
“I knew it would come out like that.”
Lucia held her dagger backwards.
“I won’t kill you in particular. “It looks like there’s a lot of information to dig up.”
“…”
Lawrence didn’t answer. She chose instead to lunge at Lucia.
Lucia also ran towards Lawrence. When the distance got closer, Lawrence swung his heavy sword.
Lucia dodged her blow by lightly jumping upwards. Then she cut Lawrence’s shoulder with her dagger.
“Tsk!…”
As soon as Lucia landed, Lawrence swung her sword again. However, Lucia easily avoided the attack this time.
As she did so, she dug in and cut Lawrence’s inner thigh with the dagger.
A check to capture, not kill.
But that alone was fatal to Lawrence.
“Ugh.”
Lawrence lost her posture as her legs became weak. Finally, Lucia kicked his wrist hard.
In the end, Lawrence had no choice but to let go of her longsword, and Lucia kicked it with her foot and sent it as far away as possible.
With that, the battle situation ended in an instant.
“It’s noisy.”
Lucia coldly scolded Lawrence, who was screaming in pain. She struck him in the temple with the hilt of her sword. It was a clean movement without the slightest hesitation, and Lawrence completely lost his mind.
“Captain.”
The Luna crew members who followed behind joined us. Lucia looked at their faces, and they all had serious expressions.
It seemed unexpected that there would be people who would dare target the carriage that Empress Sun was riding in.
“Helen, Lovell. You guys have this guy locked up. Nellie and Chloe take care of Her Majesty the late Empress. “For the rest, check the condition of the carriage and driver.”
“I understand!”
The members dispersed in an orderly manner to perform their roles.
‘I must contact Her Majesty right away.’
Moving to her her corner her her her, Lucia pulled out her crystal orb her from her subspace her pocket her her. She then tried to contact Cecilia.
* * *
I was held in Cecilia’s room until 11 p.M. The reason was to outline the parade event.
“Luke.”
After writing something down on paper for a while, she suddenly called me.
“Now is the time to go in and rest, but I feel sorry for holding on.”
“No, Your Majesty. I believe that this level must be done for the success of the founding system.”
“You can be more honest when it’s just the two of us.”
“Actually, I’m a little tired…”
Cecilia chuckled, perhaps because she suddenly revealed her true feelings.
“Let’s just give it another 30 minutes and call it a day.”
It doesn’t stop right away…
Still, I promised it would be 30 minutes, so I guess I’ll have to try a little harder.
At that moment, when I was in a panic, I heard a roaring noise coming from somewhere.
It sounds somehow familiar…
“Why is the crystal ball…”
It was only when I heard Cecilia muttering with her blank expression that I could tell the origin of her sound. Cecilia jumped up from her chair and rushed to her bedside. She pushed the nightstand to her side and opened the bottom, pulling out the crystal ball that was underneath her.
[Your majesty. I apologize for being late, but I am contacting you because I have something I need to report urgently.]
The voice coming from the crystal sphere was Lucia’s.
It seems like something big has happened.
I approached Cecilia with a worried heart.
“What’s going on?”
[There was a group that attacked the carriage in which Her Majesty the late Empress was riding.]
“!”
As soon as I heard her report her, I was so shocked that I shook my shoulders.
Are you messing with the late Empress?
I looked at Cecilia’s expression her out of the corner of my eye, just in case. A mixture of shock and anger appeared on Cecilia’s face.
