I became the upper moon in the Demon Slayer anime

Chapter 10: unexpected encounter

Chapter Ten

"Snake's Venom... and Eyes of Death"

The air was still… too still.

There was no scent of blood, no footsteps… only silence.

Then, the figure behind the shadows appeared, slipping through as if he were a part of the darkness itself.

His face was half-covered with a white bandage, showing only two mismatched eyes—one golden and sharp like an eagle's, the other a vivid green like concentrated poison.

His black cloak, embroidered with long green lines, flowed with his movements like the scales of a quietly slithering serpent.

A small white snake coiled around his neck, seemingly whispering to him silently, crawling from his shoulder to his wrist and back again without a sound.

The Serpent Hashira… Obanai Iguro.

I stared at him for a long time.

How long had it been since I felt this kind of tension?

The character I hate most is standing right in front of me—

The man responsible for the death of the Love Hashira.

I couldn't sleep for two whole days because of that.

Some idiots would say the Serpent Hashira did everything he could to protect her.

But I'd tell those fools one thing:

He couldn't protect her because he was weak. Nothing more.

Feelings don't matter.

Only the strongest have the right to speak the truth.

"Hah… how strange."

I smiled as I calmly planted my foot on the ground, the calm before the storm.

"Didn't think I'd get the honor of meeting the dumbest Hashira in history."

"And how did you find this place? I'm pretty sure I killed the guy carrying the message."

I said it with a mocking tone, but my eyes were watching every muscle, every breath, every potential movement.

But he didn't answer.

He didn't even look at me… his golden eye fixed on the ground, the other observing me without moving.

Then suddenly… he vanished.

"!"

He appeared before me in an instant, like the earth had spit him out.

His thin sword moved like a snake's tongue—

A quick diagonal slash toward my neck, which I barely managed to dodge. But he didn't stop.

The next strike followed with incredible speed.

His sword style wasn't normal—it was circular, spiraling… as if his blade danced, not slashed.

"Serpent Breathing… Fifth Form: Entwined Eyes!"

His whispered voice struck my ears the moment a deep wound opened in my shoulder.

Blue blood began seeping from the gash as I looked at the Serpent Hashira in anger.

A white mist appeared before the wound began to heal.

Even though I was still in a body that had only regained 5% of its power, I still couldn't ignore this.

I backed off. There was no room to react—only to find chances.

I attacked with full speed, my fist tearing through the air toward his chest, but he bent at the last moment.

His body slipped through my blows as if it had no bones.

Then he spun behind me—

His sword sliced across my back like a line of fire. I felt the pain ripping through before the blood began to flow again.

"I don't think I can stay calm in this situation."

I muttered inside my head as my body moved more by instinct than will.

Every time I attacked, he vanished.

Every time I defended, I was too late.

He was leading the fight…

Controlling the pace, deciding when I breathed and when I hurt.

His strikes weren't fatal—

They were precise.

Each wound disrupted my balance.

Each move was a second ahead of mine.

I leapt back, taking three steps as I gasped for breath.

My body was starting to regenerate, but the slow cell recovery made me anxious… these hits weren't ordinary.

I looked at him—he was still standing there, without a hint of tension.

His eyes were silently watching me, and his sword still dangled from his hand as if it hadn't even been used.

"I think this is the first time I've felt pain like this in my entire life."

A question crossed my mind, for the first time.

But I was no longer human.

"Damn it all… just remember, you're the one who started this."

I roared_

My aura surged around me like a storm. The ground beneath my feet cracked under the weight of my energy.

I wouldn't let him lead the battle anymore.

"Now… it's my turn."

Let me show you what a world-class Call of Duty player can do.

Activate…

I grabbed the sword I took from the old man and aimed it at the Serpent Hashira.

"It's time to get serious."

The Hashira looked at the sword in my hand in surprise, but I didn't give him any time to react.

Strike…

I dashed toward the Serpent Hashira with force, aiming a sharp thrust at his neck—

But he dodged easily.

As soon as he did, I spun in the air, launching another strike toward his throat.

Clash…

Sparks flew in the wide garden as the two figures inside collided.

The Serpent Hashira blocked the blade skillfully, but I didn't give him a moment.

I used both swords as leverage to push my body upward and launched myself high into the air.

Looking down at the Hashira, I pulled out the axe strapped to my back and hurled it with all my strength toward him.

Strike…

Sparks scattered again as I dropped down with full force on the Hashira—

But it was useless.

The flurry of attacks kept getting more and more intense,

To the point where even I started to think I couldn't go on

I had to find another solution.

I looked around and saw the axein a pitiful state—

Then at the Hashira, who kept pressing his attacks.

If I had my full power, I would've used wind attacks…

But right now, I didn't think they'd do any damage.

As for the Hashira—he hadn't used any breathing techniques.

As if he was mocking me.

I felt a sharp pain running through my lungs.

Even with all the experience I had, what could I possibly do in this situation?

A weak body going up against someone at least twenty times stronger…

Isn't that just a little unfair?

I looked at the sword, now on the verge of breaking, and realized I had to try to end this quickly.

Honestly, even I don't know what's going to happen next—

But I have to try.
