I Became My Healer Elf Character

Chapter 110: I Became My Assassin Cat Character

Syndra was pulled out of the game world, and she stared at her clear pod lid. A press of a button the side, and steam released before the lid opened. The girl climbed out in only her underwear. She reached into a drawer in her room and found a bra.

The girl sighed and grabbed her phone from the top of her desk. She immediately started messaging the group chat.

Syndra: [Did you guys die?]

Mino: [Yes, everyone died soon after you left. That mushroom poison is no joke. Now all of our characters are on a four hour time limit.]

Grey: [I miss the shorter respawns from the beginning dungeons. With those, dying was way less punishing.]

Slither: [Tell me about it…]

Syndra: [I'm sorry everyone. I'll check the game's forums, but after that I won't be able to come back for a while.]

In real life, the cat girl was a completely different person. Instead of Syndra, she was called Sarah here. Moreover, the signature cat ears and tail were completely gone.

Sarah groaned and flopped onto her bed. She pulled up the forums to see what people were talking about. I can't believe that thread is still active.

The girl looked at the thread, talking about the missing healer. Many people that followed Hikari through several games started assuming she'd died. However, there was no way for Sara to really know the truth. It's not like she actively browsed Japanese news stories.

Sarah reluctantly walked to her closet, checking her wardrobe. She found a nice shirt with a skirt to go with it, and she reached down to put on some sneakers. If she was honest with herself, she didn't really want to go to college, but there was not much more going on in her life.

"I wish I could just live in [Gensuba]. The foods there are so much better."

Sarah reached into her mini fridge and pulled out a lunch she'd packed earlier. There was a sandwich and an apple inside, reminding her of the school lunches her mother used to pack. The college student slipped them into her small bag and exited out of her apartment.

The California streets were busy at this time of year. Actually, they're always busy…

Sarah couldn't resist checking the forum again after entering the sidewalk. More and more threads were popping up about the [Forest of Titans]. It seemed that many of the biggest guilds had started exploring more of it.

The most unbelievable thing about [Gensuba] was the sheer size of it. The game had been out for years, yet there were still parts people hadn't found. Even right now, there was a thread proclaiming that the developers had infinite memory stored somewhere for the servers. Despite everything being connected, one would not even lag if they were facing up against a European or Asian player. At least, Sarah had never lagged in all of her time playing.

Sarah felt a strange pulling sensation on her body as she crossed a crosswalk. She looked towards an oncoming truck, but time seemed to freeze in front of her. The cars around her stopped completely. A nearby clock's hand ticked no longer. The people who spoke to each other also froze.

The college girl's eyes widened at the phenomenon going on around her, yet before she had time to properly process it, the whole world around her fell away. Her vision completely darkened, and she could no longer feel any physical sensations. A message popped up in her mind.

[Respawning…]

It was the words she'd seen a ton of times when she played the game. The font hadn't changed, but now the words were burned into her mind. And even more words followed, but these were ones she'd never seen before.

[Perma Death Enabled: Don't die this time…]

Syndra blinked her eyes open and found herself inside of an inn. New prickly sensations attacked her from all over. The twitching ears on her head felt more real than ever. The fluffy tufts took in all of the sounds. From a distance, she could hear the clacking of hooves on pavement, and inside the bar, she could hear two people arguing.

"The way gate worked as it should. I already told you, I want to walk around normally. Only for a little bit. Then I promise, I will do what you asked."

"Master, do you think I will be sold by some skewers?"

Syndra looked in their direction to see a drooling dragon girl. The cat kin's eyes grew even wider when she saw the girl sitting across from her. The cat girl couldn't resist jumping from her table in her surprise. She bolted across the diner, using her assassin skills on instinct, but the dragon was much faster.

The dragon grabbed the cat by the tail, yanking hard on it and lifting the girl into the air.

Pain assailed Syndra, and she was forced to realize what she'd done.

"Master, this one tries to attack us. I think I should put her out of her misery already."

The elf girl sighed and looked at Syndra with narrowed eyes. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Eep!" Syndra shouted. She hadn't expected any of this to happen. "I wasn't trying to hurt you!"

Hikari looked at her dragon girl and pointed at the ground. "Go on, put her down."

The dragon girl nodded and dropped Syndra hard onto her poor little tummy.

"Ouch…"

Hikari knelt down and offered the cat kin a helping hand up. "So…why were you charging at us like crazy? Look around you...everyone is staring at us now."

Syndra looked around, finding the elf's words to be true. She attempted to find the words to explain, but she bit her tongue in the process, not quite used to the longer tongue the cat form provided her. The cat's eyes widened again, and this time she found the words she meant to say.

"You're Hikari!" Seeing the look of surprise from the elf, Syndra continued. "I knew it!"

"Master, do you know this person?"

"Not at all...Or at least, if I do, she didn't make a huge impression."

Syndra felt a pang in her chest, but she shook her head. "No! You're famous on the forums of the game!"

"The forums?" The elf's eyes widened. "You're a player?"

"Of course, I'm a player. We did a dungeon together a long time ago, but that's less important. The point is you just disappeared! Everyone thought you were dead."

"Hold on...you need to calm down. You're confused, and the mana in your body is going haywire." Hikari looked towards her dragon. "Kurayami, did you do something to her?"

"No, Master. If I was to guess, this cat is just clumsy."

Syndra couldn't believe their conversation. She couldn't follow anything around her. There were too many sounds, and her tail waved, showing her discomfort. With each second that passed, she felt herself growing more and more lightheaded.

"Are you sure you didn't do anything to her?" Hikari looked at the cat girl in worry. "You look pale."

However, the calm voice was not enough to calm the storm raging inside of the cat kin. She felt like she would vomit. The girl fell to her knees, the world around her spinning madly. It was as if everything had finally hit her all at once. She tried to summon the menu, hoping that the thoughts she was having were all a lie. No menu came, and she couldn't log out.

The cat girl started to dry heave, but before she completely lost it, a gentle hand was placed on her forehead.

Warm magic entered Syndra's body, and she felt a calming sensation rush her. It was as if she stepped into a walled garden, and beautiful serenity surrounded her. The scent of Syndra's favorite flower rushed to her nose, and all of a sudden, she was able to stand up on her own two feet. The sounds around her grew easier to process, and she found herself able to ignore many of them. Somehow, her ears focused on only the two girls in front of her.

"Are you okay?" Hikari asked.

"I-I think so. I'm so sorry. There was too much happening all at once…"

"Don't worry about it." The elf shook her head. "Let's start from the beginning. I'm Hikari, and this is Kurayami."

Syndra nodded. "I'm Sar...Syndra. Forgive me, but I don't really understand what's going on. Are you speaking English right now?"

Hikari tilted her head. "This isn't English. Can you explain the last thing you remember?"

Syndra was surprised by Hikari's words, but she answered the elf. "I was walking down the street and checking the forums...Then I was inside of this inn."

Hikari's expression betrayed no emotions as she listened. She placed a finger on her chin, thinking about her predicament. With a wave of her staff, she cast another spell on Syndra.

"What are you doing?"

"Don't worry. I'm just checking on your condition. Everything looks fine." The elf paused before reaching a conclusion. "There's no easy way to say this, but you've been reincarnated as your assassin character."

Syndra couldn't believe her ears. Wasn't it normally a goddess people met on reincarnation? Also! Where is the massive white domain? How come we are in an inn beside the [Forest of Titans]!?

Many questions rang through Syndra's mind, but the only proof she needed was the fact that her menu was missing. She thought she might be dreaming, but the earlier dizziness and dry heaving proved to be true.

It looks like I really reincarnated in another world...
