Chapter 63: Wedding Photo is My Responsibility First

“Hey, hey, hey, Yake, I’ve got the fountain all set up and ready to go at any moment!”

After Aierjisi finished repairing the fountain’s activation mechanism, she notified Yake.

“Okay, thanks, Aier. Just hold on a sec.”

“Mom, come over here for a moment; I have a nice surprise gift to show you.”

After thanking the Little Princess, Yake grabbed Reina’s hand and led her to the fountain.

“What is this nice surprise you want to show me, Yake?”

Reina looked at Yake, unsure of what her son was up to.

“Aier, get ready. I’ll count down from five, and you start the fountain.”

“Got it! I’m ready whenever you are.”

Receiving Aierjisi’s response, Yake turned back to Reina, playing up the suspense.

“Just wait a moment; you’ll find out soon. I’m going to do a little magic trick.”

Extending his five fingers, Yake began the countdown.

“5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0!”

“Aier, it’s now!”

“Okay!”

As Yake signaled to start, Aierjisi activated the fountain.

Splash!

At the end of Yake’s countdown, the long-abandoned fountain suddenly burst to life, spraying water upwards.

“How is it, Mom? Do you like this gift?”

Yake turned to Reina, a big smile on his face as he watched the fountain spring back to life.

“Wow! I didn’t expect to see the fountain working again! But how did you manage that, Yake? I thought it was completely abandoned.”

Reina clapped her hands in delight, curious about how Yake accomplished this.

“Uh… actually, it wasn’t me. I asked little Aier for help.”

“Oh, I see. Looks like you get along well with little Aier. She was willing to fulfill your request.”

“Yeah… the Little Princess isn’t too bad to deal with. She’s not hard to get along with at all.”

Rather than saying Aierjisi’s temperament was agreeable, it was more like she was easily pleased, and as Yake’s servant, she would do her best to accommodate Yake’s requests. She was completely like a child still figuring things out.

“Just remember to treat her well on the way back.”

“Of course. Wait, Mom, since I came back with her, I’ve been really nice to her, right? When have I ever treated her badly?”

“That’s true. Just make sure you hold onto her tightly. I’m still waiting for you two to have a proper wedding. I’ll keep this wedding photo safe for now.”

Reina chuckled as she pulled out the wedding photo of Yake and Aierjisi from her pocket.

“Wait? When did this happen?”

Seeing his wedding photo unexpectedly in his mother’s hands, Yake looked bewildered.

“Silly boy, am I really that hard to figure out? Stealing your wedding photo would be ridiculously easy for me.”

“Ugh.”

Yake was at a loss for words. Indeed, with people he knew well, like Reina and Xier, he had always been in a state of low vigilance. Because of this, Reina had the chance to swipe the wedding photo.

“Mom, give it back! The photo looks terrible, really.”

Yake reached for his phone to snatch the wedding photo back.

“Hey? I think it looks fine. Especially little Aier’s smile; look how adorable it is! But Yake, your expression is a bit lacking. You’re holding the bride, yet your face looks so cold.”

Reina dodged Yake’s attempts to grab the photo while teasing him loudly.

“Well, what can I do? My face has never been good at changing. Besides, it’s just a wedding photo. Whether Aier wants to marry me is still a question.”

“That’s why you need to work hard to protect her and win her heart. If you don’t put in the effort, how will you know if little Aier wants to marry you?”

“Okay, Mom, stop it already. Seriously, just give it to me.”

“Nope! Not giving it back! Yake, you’re being so cruel! Just let me have a little fantasy!”

“Is there really any need to hold onto that fantasy that doesn’t even need to exist?”

“I think there is.”

“No!”

Reina and Yake began to chase each other around the abandoned fountain square, leaving Aierjisi behind.

“Ugh, what’s up with that Yake guy? I’ve called for him multiple times using the contract, and he just ignores me. No way, I need to find out what that guy is up to. How dare he ignore his master? Yake, you’ve really grown some guts!”

Aierjisi turned off the fountain and prepared to return to Yake to see what was happening with him.

“Mom, stop running! Give me the photo back!”

“If you want it, come and get it! But can you catch up to me?”

Arriving at the fountain square, Aierjisi felt like she might’ve come at the wrong time. Yake and Reina were running around the fountain, enjoying their playful moment; it didn’t seem wise to interrupt them.

“Ah, little Aier, you’re here! Thanks for the fountain!”

Amidst their play, Reina noticed Aierjisi standing off to the side and thanked her.

“Ah… no problem, no need to thank me. I did it because Yake asked me to. Looks like I came at a bad time, so I’ll take my leave. I won’t disturb your precious family fun.”

Aierjisi waved and prepared to retreat.

“Wait! Aier, come help me! My wedding photo was taken by Mom; we need to get it back together!”

Seeing the Little Princess about to leave, Yake quickly called out for her help.

“Huh? The wedding photo? If it’s taken, just let it be. It’s not something that important.”

Aierjisi shrugged, treating it as just a wedding photo. It wasn’t some magical key to a legendary treasure.

“Exactly, Yake. You should learn from little Aier and not be so obsessed with silly wedding photos.”

“Isn’t that a sentiment for me to say? Mom, you’re the one who shouldn’t be running around with that wedding photo anymore. I don’t want it, alright?”

Seeing that Aierjisi didn’t intend to help, Yake also gave up on retrieving the wedding photo from Reina.
