Chapter 62: I Don’t Want to Lose You Again

Chapter 62: I Don’t Want to Lose You Again

When Teacher Aisi decided to prepare a lavish farewell meal for the upcoming trip of the Little Princess, he ruthlessly kicked Aierjisi and Yake’s family out. The Yake family had no choice but to wait in the park for the time being.

“Was it really necessary to kick us all out just to cook?” Xier complained, clearly not happy. After all, they were the owners of the house, yet they were thrown out by a stranger they had known for less than ten minutes.

“Well, you see, Teacher Aisi doesn’t like anyone around when he’s cooking, so he cleared us all out. He didn’t mean any harm.”

Aierjisi was explaining Aisi’s motives to Xier at that moment.

“Hey, Little Aier, how good is Teacher Aisi’s cooking? He won’t blow up our kitchen, will he?”

“Don’t worry, Mama Reina. Teacher Aisi’s cooking skills are quite remarkable; he wouldn’t blow up the kitchen or anything like that.”

“So, how delicious are the dishes he makes?”

“Well… I can’t say exactly. Just wait a bit, and when it’s done, we’ll go back and taste his cooking. You’ll understand then.”

After calming down Yake’s family, Aierjisi was completely exhausted. Cleaning up after Teacher Aisi was indeed tiring.

“Since Teacher Aisi is at home right now and we can’t go back, why don’t you spend some quality time with your family today, Yake? After all, you’ll be leaving with me tomorrow.”

Considering she had to take Yake away from his hometown the next day, Aierjisi pushed Yake toward Reina and Xier, encouraging him to spend these last moments with his family. Once they embarked on their journey, there was no guarantee Aierjisi would return alive.

“Um… so, Mom, Xier. Do you two have any places you want to go? It’s not every day we are all out together, so let’s have some fun.”

Yake scratched his head, looking at his sister and mother. Normally, he spent time with the Little Princess, and now it was a sudden thought to explore with his family, leaving him puzzled about where to take them.

“There are plenty of places we want to go, right, Xier?”

“Yeah! There are so many places we want to visit. Big Bro, you said you’d accompany us, remember? Don’t you dare back out now!”

“I won’t back out! So where should we go?”

“First, just follow me. Don’t get lost, Yake! Little Aier, come along too!”

Reina turned and walked in a certain direction, and Yake and Aierjisi had no choice but to follow her. What did Reina want to see?

Following behind Reina, they arrived at an abandoned fountain square. It seemed that due to the square’s old age, almost no one visited anymore, leaving it to fall into neglect. Even the fountain had ceased to function.

“Mom, what’s this place?”

Yake looked at the desolate square, confused as to why Reina had brought them here.

“This place is very important to me. It was here that your dad and I got married. At one time, we even planned to come here when you got married, but sadly, just two years after you were born, this fountain square was abandoned.”

As she touched the flowerbeds overgrown with vegetation, Reina’s expression turned sorrowful. This was the site of her wedding with her husband, a significant memorial for her. It was a pity it had come to this.

“That’s really sad.”

Aierjisi could understand Reina’s emotions. A place of such great significance for her had ended up this way; it would sadden anyone.

“Mom…”

Yake looked at his mother, unsure of what to say to comfort her.

【Aier, can you help me with something?】

Through their contract, Yake initiated a mental conversation with Aierjisi.

【Huh? What’s up?】

【Can you see if you can help turn the fountain back on? If you can, Mom might feel a bit better.】

【That might be a bit challenging, but I’ll try to see if I can get the fountain running.】

“Um… Reina, I’m just going to step away for a quick minute to go to the restroom.”

After greeting Reina, Aierjisi turned and jogged away.

“Yake, come here for a second.”

“I’m coming. What’s up, Mom? Huh?”

As soon as Yake approached, Reina suddenly turned around and embraced him tightly.

“Um, Mom?”

With his face pressed against Reina’s chest, Yake felt startled and instinctively tried to squirm away.

“Don’t move, Yake. Let me hold you just like this.”

Reina whispered softly, running her hand through Yake’s hair. Perhaps her gentle gesture had an effect, as Yake, who was originally flustered, gradually calmed down.

“Uh, Mom, what is this all about?”

Yake was perplexed by Reina’s sudden motherly hug attack.

“Well… no wonder you are Ochu and my child. Your hair feels so nice to touch.”

Reina ignored Yake’s question and continued to stroke his hair.

“Mom, that’s enough, right? If you keep this up, I’m going to struggle to breathe!”

Trapped by Reina’s embrace, Yake felt his breathing becoming increasingly difficult.

“Ah… I’m sorry. I got a bit carried away there.”

Realizing that Yake was about to suffocate, Reina quickly released her hold. Yake gasped for fresh air as he regained his freedom.

“Ah… finally free! Mom, what was that just now?”

“Because tomorrow, Yake, you’re going on your journey. Once you leave, who knows when I’ll see you again? The teacher mentioned that I’m worried about you going far. You never pay attention to your safety. Like that time you went exploring the ruins with Karito and his crew. If you hadn’t encountered Little Aier and shared life with her there, you probably wouldn’t be standing here now.”

“I’m sorry. I sometimes don’t think about the consequences of my actions.”

Yake understood that his mother was worried about the dangers he might face on the journey.

“So, Yake. Promise me you and Little Aier will prioritize your safety above all else during the trip, okay? I’ve already lost you once; I don’t want to lose you again.”

Reina looked at Yake, her child. Honestly, if she could, she would prefer not to let her child embark on such a perilous journey. But there was no choice; Aierjisi had to take Yake along as part of the price they paid for sharing life.

“Yeah, Mom, don’t worry. Little Aier and I will keep ourselves safe. I don’t want to experience being dead again.”

Yake took Reina’s hand and promised her he would not easily meet his end again.
