I Became a Demon Queen

Chapter 9 - I Became a Notable Magical Girl (4)

I Became a Notable Magical Girl (4)

“Um…”
“…”
I flew across the night sky toward the distant visible harbor.
Ren, clinging to my shoulder, tried to say something a few times but quickly shut his mouth. Soon I landed on the rooftop of a tall building in the middle of the city.
“Whew. Thanks to you, I wasted an entire day.”
“Ahem.”
The cool wind blowing in from the sea seemed to cool my heat. Then Ren, who had been watching nervously, crept closer.
“Since things have already turned out like this, I’ll tell you.”
“Tell me what.”
“We’re fucked.”
“…”
Not even trying to mince words, Ren really said it like that. Looking at how different the atmosphere was from usual, he seemed serious.
“How so?”
“I… won’t blame you. What Retina said was right. It’s my fault. First, I’ll tell you the reality. You’re willful but not stupid, right?”
His voice was serious from start to finish.
I sat down with a thump, face hardened. Ren was shocked at my sitting cross-legged in a short skirt with legs spread, but I didn’t care.
“Tell me. I’ll listen.”
“The mascot Retina and magical girl Keny you attacked belong to Candystorm Corporation.”
What a name. I snorted and nodded.
“Candystorm is our competitor against Lana Land here in Korea and East Asia. Though it’s called competition, they’re actually a bigger mid-sized company than us.”
“And?”
“There might be retaliation. Of course, company-level retaliation is prohibited, but you’re different.”
“It was my personal action. I don’t particularly need the company’s help.”
I firmly stated my opinion. Getting help from these guys would just add to my weaknesses.
“But they’re a group. You can’t win alone!”
“…Ren, I thought you knew me better than that.”
Facing Ren who was shouting urgently, I grinned. Though he was a doll, I could seem to see his expression.
“You think I can’t win? Me?”
My red eyes flashed. He shook his head without realizing it.
“Just… who are you?”
“How disappointing, mascot. I’m just a magical girl.”
I smirked at his words muttered in a trembling voice.
The wind grew colder. I took off the uniform jacket on my shoulders and covered myself. Seems I’d have to sleep here tonight.
“A magical girl being homeless. Really.”
Seems I’d need to think of another way to get a house.
“So. What are you planning to do now?”
“What else! First, clearing out the trash who dared lay hands on my sacred body!”
The next morning.
When I woke up to the building manager’s shocked cry after picking the lock to the roof, I flew straight into the sky.
The shadow extending from my uniform became huge wings.
Ignoring everything else, I flew like a bullet through the clouds toward my destination. The destination was the orphanage run by those crazy bastards who sold a poor lost child—me—to a foreign organization.
The crime of daring to deceive, insult, and try to violate a demon king. As the representative and ruler of the demon realm, I absolutely could not overlook this.
“Uh, uwaaaaah!”
“It’s a magical girl!!”
I landed in the orphanage playground with a thunderous sound, without decelerating.
Having plenty to feel guilty about, they panicked and went into convulsions as soon as they saw me.
“Wait…”
“I didn’t…”
No need for questions and answers. No emotional capacity to waste on trash. I struck the necks of two staff members trying to escape. The spurting blood sparkled in the sunlight.
“Ah. It’s been a while, Ms. Park? Two days?”
“Uh, uwaaah…”
“How unfair is this? The fence and barbed wire set up to keep children from escaping are now trapping you.”
“Pl… please spare me… I, I did nothing wrong!”
The woman caught and dragged by shadows among the fleeing staff burst into tears with a scream. I matched eye level with Ms. Park, who was being dragged by her ankles caught in shadow tentacles and hung upside down.
This woman was begging desperately with tears and snot, not even knowing what was what.
“Did nothing wrong? That can’t be right?”
I smirked and took off my uniform cap, thrusting my face right in front of her nose.
“Who gave me that injection?”
“Ah..?”
Her eyes widened as if finally recognizing me.
At the same time, blood splattered.
Blood.
So familiar.
So delicious.
I grabbed both ankles with shadows and casually threw away her corpse after tearing it in half.
“Isn’t this too much?!”
“Regulations.”
I shut Ren up with one word. In reality, magical girls’ “executions” were entirely up to them. Most don’t kill, just beating them up or handing them to police.
Of course, with my demon realm mindset firmly believing that leaving them alive would cause problems, I thoroughly carried out confirmation kills.
“There are children here!”
“I know. That’s why I closed everything so they can’t see or come out.”
“Kuhek…”
“D-don’t come! If you do, the children… gurk..”
Even after entering inside, trash kept coming out. I stabbed to death those who made excuses about children, and put a hole in the head of one who took a child hostage.
“Hey, go in. Clean up the blood.”
“Uu… uuu…”
I sent the child covered in the collapsed hostage-taker’s blood back into the room. Though the shock must be big, if I spared their life, they’ll have to handle the rest themselves.
According to my senses, only one target remained. I broke the nearby window with my body and soared straight into the sky.
“Where are you going?”
“Hieek!”
A thunderous sound, then collision. Dropping straight down from the sky, I blocked the rapidly accelerating vehicle with my body.
As my feet slid slightly on the ground, a pig of a woman flew out through the shattered windshield of the completely crumpled car into the city.
I sent shadows to snatch that woman wearing a fur coat out of the air.
“Director. Honorable Director who took in poor children and sold them.”
“Please, please!”
“Why the scared face? If you’re going to gamble, you should be prepared to lose too. Where in the world is there an easy path?”
“Hu, huaaah…”
With her bound in shadows and her terrified face right in front of me, I smirked. The expression of a human experiencing extreme terror with broken mental state.
Maybe it’s because I lived as a demon for 100 years.
I found this broken face so pleasant to look at.
“Don’t worry. I’ll kill you quickly. But in exchange, painfully. With every single bone in your body breaking one by one.”
“Kahuk…”
I grinned and punched her in the face. Among the teeth that shattered and fell with blood, there were gold ones too.
“Kueuuuk!!”
After that, I slowly tightened the wrapped shadows, starting to crush her body’s bones.
Though I wonder if this execution method is too humane, this woman didn’t actually lay hands on my body directly.
“Stop! That’s enough, magical girl!”
However, at that moment police who had rushed from far away got out of their cars and started surrounding me.
“Release that person and withdraw right now! Whatever the reason, haven’t you already piled up enough achievements!”
What looked like the chief police officer was shouting through a megaphone.
Other police officers were all aiming guns at me with tense expressions.
“We are the Korean police, and the woman you’re holding is also a citizen of the Republic of Korea. The law of this country will judge!! Let go right now!!!”
I frowned.
How annoying, shouting so loudly it hurts my ears. But clearly by regulations, magical girls can’t touch innocent civilians. Above all, setting aside whether those police were truly ‘innocent’, I didn’t want to make this bigger.
“If you have grievances, negotiate properly with this country’s government. Anyway, murder is not allowed. Don’t ignore the law!”
The balding police officer shouted desperately. Looking now, he seemed quite desperate. Was this pig woman such a valuable person?
No, that definitely wasn’t it.
“Um, how about just handing them over to those guys? We’ve already gotten all the achievements anyway.”
Ren whispered while tapping my ankle.
“Please let her go… you’re still young. Don’t dirty your hands with more blood. Just don’t commit murder. Please.”
“…”
His plea had now become earnest. Only then did I realize his intention. Though it was quite fresh and thankful that he worried about me with such sincere heart.
“No!!!”
I crushed the director right then and there.
Right in front of them, I compressed her tightly, wrung out blood, turned her into mere meat unrecognizable in form, and dropped her on the ground.
“Law?”
I snorted.
“I am someone who ‘must not’ take orders from anyone.”
Their shocked faces all turned toward me. I wasn’t lying.
Even now wearing a magical girl shell, I am a demon king. Someone who must not be weaker than anyone.
If I lose, the demon realm loses.
“You, you’re really an arrogant kid?”
And then someone appeared behind me.
“Ah, Aria.”
“You know her?”
Ren recognized her this time too.
I was slightly surprised. The first reason for my surprise was that she, with red as her personal color, had quite a mature appearance having already finished secondary sexual characteristics.
“Shall we talk, junior?”
The second reason was the fact that she was quite strong. She was the strongest opponent I’d met since coming here.
“I just followed regulations.”
“I’m sure you did. But kid, before being magical girls, we’re also members of this society.”
She frowned and glared at me. Her outfit wasn’t a cute dress or elegant one-piece.
Tank top, short shorts, split abs, and gloves with knuckles on her hands.
A typical fighter’s outfit.
“You seem full of confidence, senior. Then I hope you don’t wet yourself.”
I smirked and moved my power too. Though I didn’t particularly want to fight, I don’t avoid fights that come to me.
