I Became a Demon Queen

Chapter 7 - I Became a Notable Magical Girl (2)

I Became a Notable Magical Girl (2)

But why go this far? I pondered while chewing the bread they gave me. What exactly did they want, doing such dangerous things?
“Agh! Forget such worries and let’s just leave! You can transform, can’t you! They didn’t even take your connector.”
“I want to watch a bit longer.”
I admit that after being possessed as a demon king, my personality became somewhat twisted. But I couldn’t have survived in the demon realm with a normal mindset anyway.
“If this were a normal place, it would be organ trafficking or prostitution at worst. But this is a world where magical girls and mutants exist.”
“What on earth are you talking about?”
“It probably won’t be a bad story? If we stay still, maybe you’ll be able to pile up the ‘achievements’ you want so much.”
This is essentially like an undercover investigation. Though of course, I never wanted this situation.
Understanding my logic, Ren also shut up and flopped down.
“Were you scared? Fortunately, maybe because the quality is good, your destination has been decided.”
And surprisingly, after just one day I was going to leave this room.
“The police officer said this was where I should go…”
“No, trash like you can be used more usefully elsewhere.”
Ms. Park. She smirked while tapping a syringe. A brief worry crossed my mind. Should I let them inject me?
“Good thing you stayed quiet and well-behaved. Didn’t have to rough you up. The buyers didn’t specifically say to keep limbs intact anyway.”
Buyers, and limbs. As expected, it was clear they were brokers using the facade of a welfare facility to sell children.
Then what was their purpose? She stuck the syringe in my arm.
Of course… nothing happened. But I couldn’t just stand there blank-faced, so I eventually staggered and collapsed into her arms.
Fortunately, this seemed to be the right response.
“I really can’t live like this…”
As I was stuffed into a large bag, I heard Ren, who had come in invisible to Ms. Park’s eyes, grumbling. Like a fetus in its mother’s womb, I curled up my body and was soon completely packed into the bag.
“Heave-ho.”
She loaded the bag containing me onto a rattling cart and started moving somewhere.
[Don’t you know anything? Like types of crimes in this world?]
“Hiyaak!”
I spoke to Ren using telepathy.
In response, Ren panicked and struggled against my chest.
“W-what is this. Why is your voice echoing in my head!”
[It’s not particularly amazing technology]
“How can you do this when transformation is undone!”
I wanted to talk quickly but he showed no signs of calming down. Sighing, I hugged the creature I was holding even tighter.
“Guk…”
Being choked, he struggled and patted my arms. Only then did I loosen my grip.
“W-what do you want to know?”
[You’re a veteran, right? You must have seen and heard a lot while caring for magical girls. Where do you think I’m being sold to?]
“…Probably humans’ filthy desires.”
Finally, he started spilling information bit by bit. If you knew so much, you should have said something earlier.
“Since they said they’d handle your body without hesitation, it’s probably not for sex slavery. That’s rare these days anyway. No merit in it. In my opinion, it’s probably a laboratory.”
[Laboratory?]
“It started when information about magical girls spread, and mutants appeared chasing after us. Foolish humans tried to covet our power through biological experiments even without Yggdrasil’s power.”
So this too was mess they created. Though it was somewhat understandable. From ordinary humans’ perspective, it must be an attractive power.
[So in the end, it’s experiments to create magical girls?]
“That’s how it seems.”
[Good]
Around then I was lifted up and loaded into what seemed to be a trunk. Looks like I really needed to take a nap and wake up.

“Wake up!”
“Mmm?”
Coming to my senses at some point, I twitched and opened my eyes. Still inside the bag. Though I could see bright light through the gaps.
[What? Have we arrived?]
“Seems we’ll be taking a boat.”
[Ah]
Well, Korean territory is damn small. What couldn’t an organization do when child trafficking is their basic business?
“Stay alert. Seems they’re conducting the transaction about you now.”
I quietly listened outside at Ren’s words. The murmuring I heard wasn’t Korean. Annoyingly, I had to use translation magic.
“Let’s check first. She’s healthy, right?”
“Well, something like that.”
Soon I heard several people approaching. I closed my eyes again and erased my presence. Right after, with a zipping sound, the bag was opened. Incomparably bright light poured onto my face.
“Isn’t it about time to wake up?”
“Still… about an hour left?”
A rough hand suddenly came in and pulled up my eyelid.
“…No, already awake huh. Bold child. See you later.”
He shone light in my eyes and realized I was conscious. I opened my eyes and glared at him, but he just zipped the bag back up.
“Good. This transaction is satisfactory too. Load the goods first.”
My body was lifted up. They said boat, and it seemed to be true.
And quite a large boat at that. After being carried for a while, the zipper came down again. This time completely. For the first time in half a day, I could finally stretch my legs.
“You’d better behave. Though you probably can’t understand anyway. But you know what this is, right?”
The skinhead white man who had checked my eyes earlier grinned while tapping a silenced pistol against my forehead. Meanwhile, another guy turned my hands behind my back and put on handcuffs.
“Where is this?”
“…Huh?”
I opened my mouth and spoke. Thanks to translation magic, he would have heard it in his native language. He blinked his wide-open eyes.
“You can speak Russian…”
“And what do you guys do?”
I couldn’t help but smirk. At the same time, the guy putting handcuffs on my wrists froze. He had discovered the connector ring revealed on my finger when I used my power.
“Ma-magical gi…”
“Let me just find out myself.”
I immediately moved my shadow and split his bewildered body in half. The guy who was putting on the handcuffs also collapsed spraying blood, his body full of holes from the shadow needles I unleashed.
“How are you using power without even transforming!”
“I actually wanted to find out more. But can’t help it.”
Ignoring Ren’s shouting, I broke the handcuffs with force while hearing guys running over. At the same time, I used the connector to transform my outfit, transforming for formality’s sake.
“Gyaak!”
“Here… guhk..”
The departed ship turned into chaos. There was no point bringing guns since bullets don’t work on me. The shadow blades I shot out sliced through their bodies in an instant.
“Hiek!”
I kicked down a locked door that seemed important and went inside.
A researcher fell on his behind. As expected, this place was some kind of laboratory.
“But what kind of experiments were you doing, to buy young girls? Tell me properly. Then I’ll let you live.”
“W-we…”
“Over there!”
I clicked my tongue. After slicing the trembling researcher’s neck, I sent shadows rippling along the ground and walls toward the rushing guys, wrapping them all up.
“Looks like I need to speed this up.”
I flicked my hand and crushed all the wrapped guys to death. Bones cracking and internal organs sprayed from the mangled corpses beyond recognition with a splashing sound.
“Haah, move a bit more seriously.”
“I’m always serious.”
I walked slowly through the ship with hands in my skirt pockets. In the middle of the vast ocean, they couldn’t escape anyway.
Those guys desperately trying to survive by clinging to the tiny lifeboats could be dealt with later.
There were some who charged at me, but the spikes spurting from the shadows rippling throughout the corridor kept making air holes in their heads whenever they did.
“Oh, are you guys the leaders here?”
“…Magical girl.”
Heading to where I sensed the most presences, what I found was a group of survivors huddled together. That skinny white man standing in the middle seemed to be the boss here.
“To think you’d infiltrate using a broker organization…”
“No, you should have at least done proper checks.”
“We didn’t know. Didn’t know a girl in her early teens would infiltrate a criminal organization with transformation undone and make it here undetected. But… if it’s that crazy Code Red bitch, maybe…”
“You’re strangely confident?”
Right now my shadow is rippling throughout this entire space. I could kill all those bastards with just a twitch of my hand. But somehow he seemed rather calm compared to his other subordinates.
“Well. Young girls like you don’t know. Mere puppet mercenaries like you.”
He pressed the switch in his hand. I could have stopped it, but I left it alone out of curiosity.
“Ah… I see. So this is the true nature of your experiments?”
“Though it’s a failure! We succeeded in partially transplanting magical girl power. Go, N-21!”
Something fell from the ceiling with a thud. A small, pitiful creature twisting its body grotesquely.
What was once probably an ordinary girl opened its long torn mouth wide and shot a black wave at me.
