Chapter 5: Eye of the Storm
Three years.
Noah stared at the screen, a single line of text gleaming in front of him: "Hunter Exam: Registration Confirmed."
He'd been counting down the days, the hours, the minutes. He'd been working, training, preparing. He'd made his mark on Whale Island, earning respect, building relationships, and accumulating Jen.
And now, the moment he'd been waiting for had arrived.
He opened his Mall system, his gaze drawn to that one item, the one he'd been saving up for: the One-Hooked Jade Sharingan.
The screen displayed its image, a single, crimson eye with a swirling pattern that seemed to pulse with unseen energy.
"Price: 500,000 Jen."
He glanced at his balance: 1,000,000 Jen.
He had enough.
He didn't hesitate. He selected "Purchase," and the screen flickered. A tingling sensation spread across his body, as if a wave of energy had washed over him. He felt a pressure in his eye sockets, an intense pressure that sent a jolt of pain through his head.
He closed his eyes, clutching his head, trying to control the surge of energy.
Then, the screen reappeared. "Two One-Hooked Jade Sharingan purchased."
He felt another surge of energy, a more focused rush this time, concentrated on the right side of his face. He opened his eyes, expecting a blur of pain, but it was gone, replaced by a wave of clarity. He looked around, focusing on the familiar room, the sunlight streaming through the window.
He could see everything in detail, the intricate patterns on the wood floor, the dust motes dancing in the sunlight, the fine hairs on his arm.
He looked out the window. The world was a canvas of vibrant colors, the leaves of the trees shimmering in the breeze, the waves crashing against the shore, the sky a boundless expanse of blue.
He could even see the insects, buzzing around him, their movements slow and deliberate, as if caught in a silent film.
He was seeing the world differently, as if he had been gifted with a new perspective.
He had the Sharingan.
He reached up, his fingers touching his eye, the familiar feeling of the Sharingan's power surging through him.
He was a hunter now, not just a fishmonger, not just a survivor, but a hunter.
He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, calming his mind, settling his focus. He explored the Sharingan's abilities, delving into its depths.
He could sense his own aura, a swirling mass of energy, pulsing with life. He realized it wasn't Nen, but something else, something familiar yet different. He was still in the Hunter x Hunter world, where Nen was the dominant force, but his Sharingan was drawing upon a different kind of energy, a familiar chakra from his previous world. It seemed the Sharingan, born from the divine tree, still required a source of power to function.
He could see the auras of other living beings, their energy patterns unique and distinct, even if he didn't fully understand their Nen. He could create illusions, subtle illusions, small glimpses into his imagination, designed to distract or mislead.
He could copy movements, simple movements, the way a bird flaps its wings, the way a fish darts through the water.
The Sharingan was a powerful tool, a gateway to a new world, a world of perception, illusion, and Nen. He still had much to learn, but he was ready to start.
He had five days until the Hunter Exam. Five days to master his new power, to understand its intricacies, and to learn to harness its potential. He needed to learn Nen, to adapt to this new world, to find his place in the world of hunters.
He closed his eyes, the Sharingan's power humming beneath his skin. He was ready.
