Chapter 121: HHES: Chapter 121
The sound of cracking bones accompanied Kurapika's flight.
Mid-air, he launched a counterattack, his chains sweeping towards Loki.
Bang! Loki was sent flying back, though unlike Kurapika, he remained unharmed, merely sliding a short distance.
Loki stopped, examining his injured elbow.
'Strength on par with Uvogin. This is Absolute Time. It's powerful,' he thought, somewhat envious.
But the cost was too high—one second cost an hour of life.
Just as Loki was distracted, a sudden sense of danger washed over him. Activating his Byakugan, he saw Kurapika's chains surrounding him.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh! The chains whirred, a melodious yet deadly sound.
Loki tried to jump away, but Kurapika was faster, his chains instantly binding Loki.
Kurapika looked at Loki, approaching him slowly.
"Strange, isn't it? Why is my Nen so strong?" Kurapika said, looking at his swollen arm. He used his Healing Thumb Chain to heal it instantly.
"Even Enhancement-type Nen can reach 100% power. It's strong."
Though bound, Loki wasn't worried. He wasn't a member of the Phantom Troupe. Kurapika couldn't force him into Zetsu.
"You figured it out quickly. As expected of you, Loki," Loki said.
Kurapika wasn't surprised. He knew how powerful Loki was; his abilities were hard to hide.
"Why didn't you attack then? Why bind me?" Loki asked. Kurapika could have attacked with his chains instead of binding him.
Loki knew he wasn't with the Troupe, but Kurapika didn't. With Loki's drastic changes, and Pakunoda and Chrollo under his control, Kurapika's biggest fear was Loki joining the Phantom Troupe.
He'd kill Loki if that were true.
The easiest way to test if someone was with the Troupe was the Binding Chain. He could force a Troupe member into Zetsu.
But now, seeing the Nen still radiating from Loki, Kurapika felt relief, not disappointment.
"Good. You're not with the Phantom Troupe," he said.
Loki understood. Kurapika was testing him.
That explained why he'd bound him instead of attacking.
"Shall we continue?" Loki asked.
"Unless you agree to help me save Gon and Killua."
"Sorry, I can't." Loki didn't think Kurapika truly considered him a friend. Before the mission, knowing this, Loki might have agreed, out of respect for Kurapika's friendship.
But now, the mission had started. He couldn't leave for 24 hours. Even if he changed his mind, he couldn't leave.
The system's reward was more important—especially an A-Class reward. He couldn't give it up.
Kurapika wasn't disappointed. His expression grew serious.
"You won't change easily, Loki!"
Loki looked at Kurapika. "Still not giving up?"
"Don't even think about it."
Buzz buzz buzz! Nen erupted. Loki broke free from the chains.
"Then it can't be helped." Kurapika wouldn't give up, so they had to fight.
Loki wouldn't stop until Kurapika did.
Loki extinguished his flames. Using Rokushiki: the super-high-speed movement technique, "Soru," combined with Nen, he moved faster than before.
Kurapika anticipated Loki's speed. His crimson eyes locked onto Loki, barely able to follow his movements.
"Rankyaku!"
Loki appeared like a ghost before Kurapika, his compressed air kick imbued with Nen, creating a crescent-shaped blue light that tore towards Kurapika's chest.
Clang clang! Kurapika used his chains to block the attack, but Loki vanished and reappeared behind him.
"Shigan!"
Kurapika reacted quickly, but couldn't block the attack. His arm was pierced by the Shigan, several bleeding holes appearing.
He swung his chains, trying to strike Loki. The long chains amplified his strength, his Nameless Ring of Souls striking Loki.
"Tekkai!"
Loki, having just attacked, couldn't dodge. He used Tekkai to defend. He was sent flying, spinning through the air.
Boom boom! Using Geppo, Loki landed, charging towards Kurapika. Kurapika, still attacking, couldn't react to Loki's inhuman movement.
Dissipating momentum mid-air and then accelerating—even Kurapika, who'd seen it before, hadn't expected this.
Loki reached Kurapika, smiling.
"Thank you, Kurapika. But I can't leave."
Dong! A punch slammed into Kurapika's chest. Boom! Nen exploded, sending Kurapika flying, blood spraying from his mouth. But a look of satisfaction appeared in Kurapika's eyes.
'Loki, you still...'
Dong!!! Kurapika flew back, crashing to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
Loki stood, watching him.
He'd used his full power.
Even if Kurapika didn't die, he'd be unconscious.
Through his Byakugan, Loki saw Kurapika's powerful Nen had calmed.
