Chapter 280: Chapter 280: A V5-Level War on the Horizon?
"Dominica-sama, I may need a favor from you."
"What is it?"
"I picked up a little girl earlier, and I need your help sorting out her identity."
"Picked up a little girl?" Dominica frowned. "What do you mean?"
Wouldn't the simplest thing be to return her to her parents? Why was there a need to resolve an identity issue?
"I'll explain everything when we meet at the Dragon Dojo."
Dominica had even more questions but nodded anyway. "Alright."
Kaizen left the hotel with Tessia, hailed a taxi, and headed to the Dragon Dojo. Along the way, he made sure to disguise Tessia slightly. When they arrived, Dominica was already waiting at the entrance.
"Kaizen."
"Dominica-sama."
Dominica glanced at Tessia. "Is this the girl you picked up?"
"That's right."
Tessia looked up at Dominica and spoke plainly. "I wasn't picked up. My mother sold me to my eldest brother to be his wife because the former deputy paid for me."
Dominica's expression turned strange.
Kaizen smiled awkwardly. "There's a bit more to the story. Let's go inside first, and I'll explain everything."
"Alright."
The three of them entered the dojo. Unlike before, fewer people paid them any attention—most were too distracted by the explosion and the riots to care.
Inside a meeting room, Kaizen turned to Tessia. "Stay here for a bit. I need to discuss something with Dominica-sama."
"Okay."
Kaizen and Dominica moved to an adjacent room.
"Dominica-sama, have you ever heard of a gang called Red Trang?"
"Red Trang?" Dominica shook her head. "Never heard of them."
"They specialize in human trafficking and smuggling, mainly targeting the wealthy. Tessia was taken by them."
Kaizen continued, "During the recent chaos, I took the opportunity to get her out. I plan to send her to Heavens Arena to stay with Nina and the others. So I need your help arranging an identity for her."
"As for why Tessia said what she did, it's because Red Trang fed her that story. She'll realize the truth in time."
Dominica nodded in understanding. She believed Kaizen—there was no reason for him to lie about something like this.
"That won't be a problem. Setting up an identity is simple. Do you want to change her appearance as well?"
"That would be best. Sorry for the trouble, Dominica-sama."
"No trouble at all. It's a small matter."
Dominica waved it off.
Kaizen paused for a moment before asking, "By the way, Dominica-sama, what's the situation with the Nen users from Taris?"
Dominica's expression darkened, and she let out a sigh. "It's not just Taris. The Mimbo Republic is involved as well."
"Mimbo Republic?" Kaizen frowned.
The Mimbo Republic was one of the V5 nations, standing alongside the Kingdom of Fiora. Their relationship was historically complicated. A long time ago, the Mimbo Republic had been the third colony of the Kingdom of Fiora.
The Fiora Kingdom had once experienced a golden age, ruling over a third of the known world. Over time, their influence diminished, but they remained one of the most powerful nations, holding a top position within V5.
Due to their colonial history, the Mimbo Republic harbored mixed feelings toward Fiora. On one hand, the two nations shared cultural similarities. On the other, Mimbo still resented Fiora for its past subjugation.
Despite an official state of peace, conflicts and skirmishes between the two countries were common. Fiora was superior in terms of economy, technology, and Nen users, but Mimbo had a larger population and more territory. Additionally, Mimbo frequently produced Nen users with unusual abilities, which often frustrated the Fioran royal family.
Taris, by comparison, was just a small country—hardly a real threat to Fiora. But Mimbo Republic? That was different.
"Yeah," Dominica continued. "None of us expected the Mimbo Republic to get involved, let alone cooperate with Nen users from Taris. They caught us completely off guard. We suffered heavy losses."
She sighed. "Things had been quiet for so long. We didn't think Mimbo Republic was paying attention. Now, it seems the revival of Nen in Taris might be tied to them as well."
A worried look crossed her face. "I don't know where this will lead."
She shook her head, then changed the subject. "Let's set that aside for now. I'll take care of Tessia's identity. As for the Nirvana Conference, the first stage is being canceled, but the second and third stages will proceed as planned."
"The second stage will take place in the royal palace."
"Tomorrow, I'll be busy with other matters, so I won't be able to come here. When the time comes, Kaizen, go with Wendy. Someone will be there to receive you."
Kaizen nodded. "Got it."
After Dominica left, Kaizen took Tessia to the room that had been arranged for them.
He sat on the bed, deep in thought, reflecting on their conversation.
'The conflict between Fiora and Mimbo Republic is worse than I thought.'
'A war between two great powers… Is that where this is heading?'
'The original story didn't mention this much, but wars between nations are nothing new. They happen all the time.'
'If a war does break out… will it benefit me?'
'Would it align with the Observer's Will?'
He shook his head.
'No point dwelling on uncertainties. I should focus on more tangible goals first.'
'The Hunter Exam, Greed Island, the Kakin Succession War… those are my real priorities for now.'
