Hunter X Hunter: The Strongest Assassin Of The Zoldyck Family!

Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Phantom Troupe, Assemble!

The next day, a stranger presented a token near the outskirts of the Elder district.

"Register them," the elder instructed with a wave.

Reaching the Elder district's vicinity this quickly was as much a matter of luck as it was skill. Nevertheless, some strength was required.

Only one type of token is distributed in the Elder district, yet the city seeks two types of people. First, there are ordinary fighters, soldiers who wield firearms. Then, there are those with the potential to wield aura, Nen users, or those who could develop into formidable ones.

For Meteor City, both kinds of recruits are essential. The Assembly of Elders made this clear.

"Our biggest threat now is the global gangsters led by the Mafia Community," an elder declared.

"We need ordinary fighters to counter their gunmen and powerful Nen users to stand against their Shadow Beasts."

The beasts of Meteor City had once outmatched the Mafia Community' Shadow Beasts. But now, only two remain alive, their whereabouts unknown. In this climate, Meteor City's Nen users urgently need fresh recruits.

Using the arena as a battleground, identify those with the potential to be honed into Nen users.

After registration, a young man, clutching his token, followed the guards into the Elder district. His eyes shone with excitement and hope for the future. But rather than a grand sight, the first thing he saw was a vast, open expanse filled with multiple fighting arenas.

"In the ring battles, defend your position for ten consecutive rounds to be ranked as an elite and receive elite treatment!"

The matches were intense and relentless.

Meanwhile, over in a chaotic area of Meteor City, amidst the ruins, several figures sat in various positions. In the center, a young man, absorbed in a book, sat engrossed. Another figure strode in.

The young man snapped the book shut.

"Phinks, you finally made it!" Nobunaga scoffed. "For someone who stayed in Meteor City, the closest one to this spot, you're still the last to arrive."

Phinks smiled at Chrollo, seated in the center. "Long time no see."

Suddenly, Phinks launched forward, colliding with Nobunaga. The two locked arms in a test of strength, both Enhancers but with distinct techniques. In sheer arm strength, Phinks had the upper hand over Nobunaga.

"Calm down. The leader has something to say." Franklin stepped between them, easing the tension.

Everyone turned their gaze to Chrollo.

With a huff, Nobunaga returned to his spot beside Uvogin. Machi sat nearby, absently twirling her fingers. Franklin, seated back in his place, displayed a calm demeanor, a gentle giant among the Phantom Troupe's rougher members. It was his nature to play the peacemaker.

Pakunoda stood by Chrollo, while Shalnark toyed with his phone, an ever-present smirk on his face. Feitan muttered darkly under his breath, cursing about something.

"Shalnark, fill everyone in."

"Sure, leader," Shalnark replied, straightening. "Everyone's probably aware of why we're here. The Kuto Gang's recent actions against Meteor City were disastrous, costing us dearly."

"We don't care much for the elders here, and few of us like those old coots. But an attack on Meteor City is an attack on us."

Shalnark continued, "The elders' wild beasts were nearly wiped out by the Kuto Gang. Only two survived, and now they've disappeared."

"Meteor City suffered heavy losses, with millions dead."

"Kuto's aim was to create chaos and gather materials for their Nen studies. In response, the elders hired the Hunter Association and even brought in the Zoldyck family to handle the Kuto Gang."

Chrollo interrupted, "But that call for help came after I ordered our own assembly."

"I initially planned for us to deal with the Kuto Gang directly," he added, "but they no longer exist. Still, we've gathered here, and we can't leave empty-handed."

Hearing this, the group's energy surged. Phinks and Uvogin especially looked ready for a fight. Feitan's muttered curses intensified.

Uvogin grinned. "So, what's the plan, leader? Ready to stir things up?"

Chrollo raised a hand to quiet them. "There are three things on the agenda.

"First, we have four 'materials' for creating Nen tools that the Kuto Gang collected. Two are with the Zoldycks, one is with the Hunter Association, and one is lost somewhere in Meteor City. I want to recover that one."

He paused before continuing. "Second, the situation in Meteor City has worsened over the years, veering in an unexpected direction. Especially the elders—what they once did in secret, they now flaunt openly. Their influence over Meteor City has become a problem."

Machi frowned. "Leader, are you saying we should take out the elders and put the Phantom Troupe in charge?"

Chrollo shook his head. "No. That was never the Troupe's purpose. We're driven by our own goals. Control over Meteor City would only hinder us."

"Instead, we must limit the elders' power."

Chrollo's gaze hardened. "Third, there are currently two vacant spots in the Troupe. I hope to track down the remaining two wild beasts and invite them to join us."

Feitan abruptly asked, "And the two remaining Kuto Gang members? Are we just leaving them?"

"They're on death row with the Hunter Association. Breaking them out would take serious planning," Shalnark interjected.

Chrollo nodded. "For now, they're as good as dead. But if they ever make it out, we'll end them. Anyone who targets Meteor City must face the consequences."
