Chapter 9: Chapter 9
---
Rocky grabbed the sword he had materialized.
The design he had envisioned was fully replicated in appearance, but at the end of the day, a materialized item was still just that—an ordinary creation born of Nen.
A sword could only be a sword.
Its hardness, strength, and true capabilities had yet to be tested.
The blade, standing at 1.3 meters, nearly matched Rocky in height. Though not particularly long by normal standards, the sight of a child wielding a sword as tall as himself felt oddly mismatched.
However, as the one who had materialized it, Rocky felt no weight at all.
He could swing it with ease, as if the sword were merely an extension of his arm.
After completing the materialization, Rocky tested its flexibility by making the sword vanish and reappear at will.
Each time the blade disappeared, it shattered into countless tiny white crystals, dissipating into thin air.
Upon reappearing, the sword stood upright before him, its tip pointing skyward as if summoned by an invisible force.
Rocky gripped the hilt once more, twirling the blade in a few casual swings.
The clan leader, observing from the side, was intrigued.
Materialized weapons typically appeared and disappeared instantaneously, without such theatrics. The crystalline effect of Rocky's sword was unusual.
Though he didn't fully understand the significance behind this unique manifestation, the clan leader suspected it was influenced by Rocky's personal flair or subconscious intent.
Even so, unnecessary embellishments in Nen techniques could lead to increased energy consumption.
If Rocky's alterations served no practical purpose beyond aesthetics, they might prove wasteful.
The clan leader approached, crouching slightly to meet Rocky's gaze.
"Little Rocky, is this the weapon you wanted to materialize?"
Rocky nodded confidently.
"Have you thought about what abilities this weapon might have?"
"Perhaps indestructibility? A deadly poison? Or the power to destroy special materials?"
The clan leader's tone shifted toward guidance, hoping to steer Rocky's imagination in a meaningful direction.
Materialization alone wasn't the end goal—it was merely the foundation for developing a Nen ability.
At eight years old, Rocky had potential but lacked experience. The clan leader didn't want him to believe that simply materializing a weapon equated to mastering the principles of "Hatsu."
"I've already thought about it," Rocky replied with a smirk.
Without hesitation, he raised his arm and hurled the sword toward a tree five or six meters away.
The blade cut through the air in a straight line, piercing the trunk with a loud **thunk.**
The clan leader's eyes narrowed slightly.
This boy was full of surprises.
A dull sound echoed as the sword embedded itself into the tree.
The clan leader furrowed his brows slightly, unsure of Rocky's intent.
**Was he trying to use the sword as a hidden weapon?**
If that was the case, a sword of this size hardly seemed suitable. Hidden weapons were typically small and discreet—something like darts or kunai would make far more sense.
Still, the concept wasn't entirely flawed.
As a Conjurer, Rocky could potentially develop strong Manipulator traits, allowing him to project Nen-infused weapons at a significant percentage of his full power.
If this was Rocky's aim, the idea had merit.
"Little Rocky, are you planning to use the sword as a hidden weapon?" the clan leader asked.
"If so, Grandpa suggests shrinking the size of the sword and materializing several at once. A set of ten or twelve would be more practical—the more, the better. It all depends on whether these weapons have special abilities..."
Before he could finish, Rocky quickly shook his head.
"No, no! That's not it!"
The clan leader paused, curious.
"I don't plan to use the sword as a hidden weapon," Rocky clarified, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "I want to use it... as a **coordinate**!"
**Coordinate?**
The clan leader froze for a moment, trying to process Rocky's words.
Rocky grinned. "Wherever the sword is, I can teleport to it!"
"Teleportation?!" The clan leader's eyes widened in surprise.
In Rocky's mind, the vision was clear. He could hurl the sword anywhere he desired, and as it flew, he would have the ability to instantly teleport to its location—grasping the hilt mid-flight.
The combat potential was immense.
Teleporting just as the sword reached its target point would allow him to strike with increased momentum, amplifying the force of his attack.
Moreover, if he teleported multiple times during the sword's trajectory, he could stack the energy of each movement, unleashing devastating cumulative strikes.
This combination of speed, precision, and raw power could catch even the most seasoned opponents off guard.
But this idea wasn't born purely from Rocky's imagination.
When he first settled on materializing a sword, memories of an ability he admired from another world surfaced—**Prince Noctis's power** from *Final Fantasy*.
The crystallized summoning and dispersal of the sword wasn't merely for show or vanity.
In fact, Rocky had another idea layered beneath it.
The sword wouldn't simply vanish after use. Instead, it would remain suspended, orbiting him invisibly.
In this way, the blade could instantly appear whenever and wherever Rocky needed it—either directly in his hand or materializing in front of him to block attacks.
This ability wasn't just offensive; it offered defensive capabilities as well.
Rocky could picture it vividly—a rotating barrier of unseen swords, ready to intercept threats at a moment's notice.
Once someone suddenly attacks Rocky, the sword will resist the attack by itself, although it is not known how effective this idea is for defense.
But Rocky is not worried about this. As his mind energy improves, his defense will naturally increase.
Rocky has many ideas about abilities.
There is definitely more than one sword that needs to be materialized...
"Impossible!"
Suddenly, the voice of the clan leader pulled Rocky back to reality from the imaginary world.
"Impossible?" Rocky looked at the clan leader grandfather.
The clan leader grandfather nodded, "Your idea is impossible to realize!"
Although he was surprised that Rocky could imagine such an ability.
But!
To realize such an ability, it is very difficult.
Instant teleportation!
Such an ability is too abnormal. Usually, the mind follows a basic principle. The stronger the power you want to get, the more price you have to pay.
The more powerful the ability, the more restrictions it usually has, and some abilities are even dangerous to the ability holder.
Once a certain rule is violated, not only may the ability be lost, but even death may occur! ! ! !
And Rocky only has this idea, teleportation is basically impossible to achieve.
"Is it so absolute! Grandpa Patriarch!"
Rocky doesn't think it's impossible!
"Little Rocky, you probably don't understand what the four words teleportation mean!"
"To put it in a language you can understand..."
"If you want to achieve this ability, you have to spend decades or even hundreds of years practicing crazily!"
"And!" The patriarch's tone became more serious.
"You also need to devote yourself to an extreme emotion or state before you can hope to develop this ability!"
"This is based on your current terrible talent!"
"If it's an ordinary Nen, I will tell him directly that it's impossible!"
After a pause, the patriarch continued to speak.
"Even if it is finally developed successfully, it is probably only instant movement within a small range, and the distance may not exceed ten meters at most... or even less..."
"So the ability you just mentioned is an impossible idea!"
