Chapter 324: Theft (3) : Forced.
With everything back to the way it was Loki planned to leave immediately but his eyes landed on the letter at the top of the homunculus made of the Chained God and Mother Tree of Desire.
'Do I take that?'
'Helena would probably appreciate it if I did that for her.'
'But…'
Loki looked at the tree that had grown around the Chained God and became apprehensive about lifting the veil of secrecy over him for a second time.
'Even though it seems like 'He' is fighting for his life to protect the letter, it's not something I can steal just like that.'
'I'll divine about what's written in it in the Sefirah Castle and just tell her about it if it's something important.'
Just as Loki's mind tilted more and more towards abandoning the letter in favour of saving himself and sticking to his goals, a sharp change occurred that caused the situation to flip on its head.
*RRRRRRRRRRREEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
An unholy symphony of pain and torture escaped the Chained God's lips. Loki's mind froze and despite the veil of secrecy covering him and the warm bullet in his mouth, he felt cold.
Loki's eyes slowly comprehended the veil of secrecy around him ripple because of an invisible force clashing with it.
His slow mind made it difficult for him to think properly as his actions became filled with static instead of smoothness and elegance like they usually were.
'I…need…to…get…out…'
The Chained God moved violently. Ripping his entire body out of the tree, pulling himself apart. He moved as if he was betting everything in his life on something.
Loki's spirit was immediately doused in a fountain of blood that escaped the Chained God's now torn right arm.
The sentient corruption-inducing tree didn't remain idle either. With its prey making a last-ditch effort to struggle, it suddenly pulled out dozens more branches, trying to bind the Chained God down and invade to completely take control over 'His' body and 'His' mind.
As the Chained God and Mother Tree of Desire fought each other, Loki felt his thoughts free up a little.
His cryptologist mind worked overtime to spit out all sorts of theories and inconsistencies that he'd ignored before this.
It was at this moment that Loki realised what had happened.
'A…trap…'
' 'She' already noticed me.'
' 'She' was betting on me taking the letter so that she could attack her prey more efficiently.'
'It seems that 'She' thinks the Chained God will give up struggling after the letter is taken away from 'Him'.'
' 'She' can get me when I decide to steal the letter.'
'And since the Chained God recognised that 'She' already knows about me, it seems 'He' wants to sacrifice 'Himself' and deliver the letter to me anyway.'
A deep sense of respect sprouted in Loki's heart for the Chained God fighting for his life in front of him, but he also felt very annoyed at being wrapped up in this fight.
In the fraction of a second when all these things happened, Loki decided what he was going to do next.
Taking a deep breath in to fill his lungs, Loki forcefully spit out the bullet while striking the ignitor with his spirituality.
The bullet travelled at a supersonic speed out of his mouth.
But just that wouldn't have been enough to hit even the corrupted Chained God, forget about the corruption spreading tree of Mother Tree of Desire.
The veil of secrecy that prevented the Gods from directly noticing Loki's actions was what delayed their reaction to the bullet.
The bullet almost immediately embedded itself into the tree.
Before anything else could happen, Loki rushed to the letter at the top of the tree and stretched his hand to steal it.
The letter was immediately turned into a rune to be stolen.
As the runic letter floated in his direction, Loki's three-sixty-degree vision spotted several tree roots shooting towards him to use the momentary chance when the veil of secrecy was lifted to corrupt him at least partially.
Even if the corruption spread fast enough to just prevent him from leaving immediately, the trap that Mother Tree of Desire set would've worked flawlessly.
But to Loki's grace and luck, the bullet that was lodged in the tree burst forth with light at this moment.
For a moment it was as if the tree was forced to freeze like the other ice sculptures outside.
The bandages wraped around the Chained God exploded with ferocity as they started to wrap around Mother Tree Of Desire and freeze her into an ice block.
This moment of oppourtinity, lengethened further with the Chained God's help was enough for Loki to grab the letter and rescind his ritual to return to the Sefirah Castle.
'That's all I can do for you right now.' Loki thought giving the Chained God one last look. He could almost swear that the Chained God was looking at him with a smile but the cartoonish depiction of him wasn't clear enough.
'I hope you'll be able to save yourself later.'
A pillar of light burst through from the bullet into the entire area and spread to the heavens, connecting with the Sun to only grow brighter and stronger, leaving behind two Gods fighting each other for control as it died out.
Now in the Sefirah Castle Loki took another full breath in.
'That was reckless.'
'But it worked out well…'
'I didn't even have to use the Error Blasphemy card.'
Loki looked at the Sequence 2 Ancient Bane Beyonder Characteristic he'd stolen, and the letter, waving his hand to convert them into objects instead of runes.
The Beyonder Characteristic looked like a voodoo head stuck in an eternal scream, while the letter looked fragile and was written on what Loki guessed was goat skin.
Looking at the two items in front of him Loki *sighed*.
'At least I can complete the digestion of my potion from that when I give these items to Helena.'
'Most from the theft at the Quidditch world cup when I stole from 'Her' and gave the contents of the card away, partially, to Hermione, and the rest from this mission where I stole from two True Gods and will give away the contents to Helena.'
'Each time I performed the same action…stealing from a god to help the weak.'
Deciding to bask in the excitement of fully digesting his potion some other time, Loki left the Sefirah castle and quickly performed another bestowment ritual to hand himself the two items he would hand over to Helena.
Once done, Loki quickly walked back the way he'd come. And Helena was waiting for him patiently, right where he'd left her.
As he walked closer he could see Helena looking at him with worry and tension.
"What's with that frown on your face? Thought I'd die or something?" Loki said tossing the Beyonder Characteristics first.
Helena grabbed the Beyonder Characteristic and looked at it. Once she felt a clear connection to the item she nodded at Loki and stretched her hand for all the items she'd given him.
Loki gave her the secrecy charm, even though it had become useless since it'd gotten damaged beyond repair after the Chained God directed an unholy scream at it. He also gave her the Sequence 1 Abomination Beyonder Characteristic.
"Good, you brought back everything." Helena nodded with a smile. "What was up with that large pillar of light?"
Loki shook his head, "Just the bullets I charmed with the help of the Sun Goddess. Anyway, that's not the most important thing."
Having Helena's attention Loki contemplated his next words before speaking calmly, "Your dad did his best to get this to you." Loki said and then finally waved the letter in front of her.
Helena's eyes widened and her hands trembled. She felt weak all of a sudden. "He did?" Helena croaked.
Loki only nodded wordlessly and gave the letter to her.
