Chapter 122: Chapter 121 - Lightning Training.
[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]
Third Person POV
London.
...
...
Astraea looked at both groups seated on each side of her table, while Snape ended up sitting next to Bellatrix, with all her granddaughters watching him closely.
'It seems that they all know him well, and my grandsons also have some involvement with Snape... Regulus doesn't seem to have had any direct contact with him, but he's certainly looking at him with curiosity,' she thought.
Everything seemed quite silent, and the sound of plates and cutlery was now the only thing to be heard among them. Glances were exchanged between family members while their guest remained unfazed, focusing on his meal. Some even cast discreet looks toward Snape the whole time, but no one seemed to know how to start a conversation. Even Astraea remained silent.
With even the adults holding back, questions whirled in their minds. 'What really happened at Hogwarts? Was it Snape who tortured the students? How did he get so much money to buy a shop for 200,000 galleons? And what was that dark aura he created earlier?' There were so many questions, but no one had the courage to speak up, creating a suspenseful atmosphere.
The silence was only broken at that moment, and unexpectedly, by Bellatrix herself.
"Grandmother, Snape struck a deal with me back at Hogwarts," she began, drawing everyone's attention at the table as she continued. "He will train me once a week this year," she added, making everyone quickly look up.
"What is this? Is it true?" It was Andromeda who spoke, with an indignant tone, seated beside Narcissa.
"Once a week? But isn't the boy a student at Hogwarts?" Regulus's father, Orion, commented, surprised.
"Snape can leave the school every week," his son replied.
"Can he really do that?" Orion let slip, astonished.
"Yes… he can leave every weekend..." Paris answered his uncle.
"How did you manage that?" Orion turned to Snape.
"I negotiated a few things with the headmaster," Snape replied calmly. "It was either that or I'd leave Hogwarts, and the headmaster opted to keep me."
"I see," Orion said, trying not to intrude while glancing at Astraea. After all, it was a proposal she should decide to accept or not.
"Is this really true? You'll be training Bellatrix every week?" Astraea asked, turning to Snape, uncertain of how she felt about it.
"Yes, I made an agreement with Bellatrix, and I intend to keep it. I'll be here once a week, if it's no trouble," Snape replied, and she nodded.
"Very well. If it's all right with you and with Bellatrix, then there's no problem. If you need anything, just let me know," Astraea concluded, while her children looked at her in surprise, as if they weren't used to seeing her act that way. But they could only listen without saying anything more.
The dinner continued, and Snape continued to be discreetly stared at, but no one else said anything. He finished his meal elegantly, not because he was in front of nobles, but because he was accustomed to behaving this way, visiting people of high status in other realms that were often far superior to those present at the table. However, this was not the time to reveal such matters.
"Dinner was delicious, but it's getting late. I need to return to my home," Snape said, wiping his mouth with the napkin, indicating he was satisfied.
"I completely understand; you're free to go. Please, I'll accompany you to the exit," Astraea responded kindly. She stood up, and Snape did the same.
"We'll see you soon, then?" Bellatrix called as he moved away.
"We'll talk once classes start. For now, I want you to focus on acquiring everything I requested for the training room," Snape said while accompanying the matriarch.
"How will you go, Mr. Snape?" she asked.
"By Floo. I need a fireplace," he replied, as she nodded and led him to where she had found Paris earlier that day.
"It was good to negotiate with you, Mr. Snape. I must apologize for how I treated you; you're certainly someone much more interesting than meets the eye. I hope you succeed in your endeavors," Astraea said, trying to maintain a good relationship with Snape.
"Thank you. I would just like that none of the conversations or our negotiation from today leave this house; I prefer to remain hidden," Snape reminded her, as she nodded quickly.
"Yes, there will be no risk of anything about you leaving here. After all, we have our methods of keeping our secrets, Mr. Snape," she said, and he nodded before throwing the Floo powder at his feet and disappearing in green flames the next instant.
Snape returned to Diagon Alley, where there was little movement since it was late at night, though many bars were crowded with wizards talking and drinking, with even some students sipping butterbeer. He ignored this and proceeded through an exclusive passage to his home, one that no one could trace.
Thus, he returned to the coast of England, to his isolated house, while a heavy storm fell outside and lightning cut through the sky at that moment.
His gaze fell upon Shadow, perched and observing him calmly with blue eyes. Snape couldn't help but sigh a little regarding his home. "This place is so lonely… Perhaps I should buy two house-elves, one for the shop and one for this house," he murmured to himself. Instead of going to another room, he simply stepped out of the fireplace and walked straight to the front door.
Upon opening the door, the storm roared before him, rain pouring down and lights from the sky illuminating him, but he didn't mind the weather and took his first step; he closed the door and stepped out into the heavy rain.
As he walked, lightning struck all around, some bolts falling quite close. He was the only resident in that area; though the small town was only 4 kilometers away, no one lived closer than 2 kilometers from his house, and he continued onward.
He had chosen to live here for a decisive factor that made Snape appreciate the place precisely for the storms that hit the coast, creating a dark and wild atmosphere. He had faced some of these storms since he moved there nearly a year ago, but now he wanted to do something different.
He wished to confront this storm, determined, as he reached the edge of the coast, listening to the churning sea below him, where a cliff over 200 meters high descended to the beach, waves crashing against the rocks. Atlas was likely somewhere around there, but he didn't care. Snape looked at the storm above him, drawing his wand and raising it toward the sky, intensifying the lightning as if he were using it as a lightning rod.
The next moment, a bolt of lightning illuminated the area and struck him directly. Snape felt the impact with a force trying to push him back, but he held firm, pressing his foot into the ground as the electricity coursed through his entire body, feeling the discomfort of such a powerful surge of energy hitting him. But he needed to endure it, even if it caused him some harm.
This continued for a while as he tried to use his magic, which had grown accustomed to lightning spells he had been practicing over the year. After some time, the lightning finally began to yield to his control, allowing him to harness the natural energy to his advantage.
At last, the lightning began to calm. Only the lightning that had struck remained at the tip of his wand, glowing and flickering without harming him further, as Snape watched, satisfied.
"It seems it worked. I tamed the lightning," he said, awestruck, with the electricity flowing naturally, not by magic, but by the pure energy that came directly from the sky. He looked at the energy, seeming to try to decipher it, before pointing his wand forward. A massive lightning bolt erupted from it, shooting straight into the sky ahead of him, into the storm, where he could see nothing beyond the heavy rain falling on him.
"I think I can begin," Snape murmured to himself. After all, this was the training he wanted to pursue over the holidays: mastering the power of the storm, something beyond ordinary magic. He aimed to create and accomplish things few had ever achieved, perhaps reaching a new level of magic in the history of this world.
His magical abilities hadn't grown much lately, since, to avoid drawing attention, he had been using most of his system points in physical areas. His rapid advancement was already drawing attention, surpassing all the students at school and even some professors in terms of magical power.
Moreover, he needed physical strength to face something incredibly powerful—the legendary Dracula. He needed to be on par in a fight against him, but once he achieved that, he would keep a lower profile again, perhaps refraining from investing more points for a while. That was the plan: to focus on such points only when absolutely necessary, as he was already at a very high level.
Now was the time to train his magic. He pointed his wand forward again, summoning lightning bolts that surged toward him as he controlled the lightning and released it again after some time.
This continued for a while, with lightning striking the coast and then mysteriously rebounding. The residents of the local town began to notice the continuous lightning strikes on the distant coast, where a small hill held the recently acquired house of that mysterious resident.
Bolt after bolt struck that area, making the Muggles wonder what was happening there, as lightning isn't supposed to strike the same place twice. Even the old man who usually kept an eye on Snape looked on curiously, unable to understand what it all meant from a distance.
Meanwhile, a boy of nearly 17 was "playing" in the middle of a storm, with little visibility in front of him. He was quick enough to stop the bolts that struck toward him, controlling them before hurling them back into the sky, continuing this process and enjoying the storm.
Then he decided to act differently, beginning to fire bolts at the oncoming lightning, causing the two energies to collide with each other. Snape wanted to train his reaction speed, but it was still difficult, as a lightning bolt was much faster than the human eye could track, and so he remained on the cliff, training under the rain.
Snape believed his mastery of storm magic would improve significantly with this training, and he planned to use those months of vacation precisely for that.
