Honkai Won’t Stop Chasing Me

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Mother

Lynx observed Stelle for a moment. "I see. Thank you—not just for saving Belobog, but also for rescuing us this time.

But, actually, I also wanted to ask… why did our great hero happen to appear here?"

"Uh—!" Stelle's eyes darted around nervously. "Well, uh, you see, it's like this…"

"Did my brother and sister send you to protect us?"

Stelle smirked. "You figured it out yourself. Don't blame me."

"But they're always like this. Being their little sister, it's hard to have any personal space."

"That's just how family is," Stelle suddenly said with a serious tone.

Pela also chimed in reassuringly, "Exactly! Wait—isn't that my line from earlier?"

"Alright, alright! At the end of the day, it's just because my brother and sister worry too much. Besides, the Trailblazer did save us.

Since you've been following us all this way, you probably already know why we came here to camp.

Stay with us. Let's watch the aurora together."

Stelle smiled faintly and sat down beside the two. The three chatted about everything under the sun until late into the night.

The aurora appeared in the sky right on schedule.

Bathed in that wondrous light, the three of them were lost in awe.

——

The screen faded to black, and the next scene shifted to Belobog's Administrative District.

The Snowfield Aurora Observation Trip had come to a perfect conclusion, but the two girls seemed determined to make the journey even more memorable. They made plans with Stelle to meet up later for a midnight snack.

The trio decided to part ways for now, each returning to their own home and their own mother.

Just before leaving, however, Lynx called out to Pela. "Here… take this. I found it on the ground—probably left behind by that round, rolling Fragmentum creature.

I think… you should see it for yourself."

Pela read the handwriting on it aloud before she could stop herself. "Penya Sergeyevna?!"

Her expression turned flustered, and she hurriedly left the group.

[Penya Sergeyevna? I feel like I've seen that name somewhere before?]

[When the Landau siblings were looking for Stelle, Serval mentioned it in passing—specifically highlighted in red text.]

[Ohhh, right! But I've also seen it somewhere else…?]

[Pela's full name is Pelageya Sergeyevna!!!]

[Huh???]

——

Coincidentally, not long after parting ways, Stelle received a message from the Landau siblings.

Perfect timing. With some free time now, Stelle headed to the mechanics' workshop.

She recounted everything she had seen and heard to the siblings.

Gepard's furrowed brows instantly relaxed. "So the 'stranger' was just Pela… That's a relief!"

"So, is my mission complete?" Stelle asked the siblings.

Serval gave Stelle a thumbs-up. "You've really helped us out big time this round! Thanks a bunch, Trailblazer!"

Just as Stelle was about to shamelessly ask for some kind of reward, her phone buzzed again.

When she checked it, it was actually a message from Lynx?

And—

Lynx had asked to meet Stelle at the museum.

Cut to—

Stelle and Lynx were now standing outside a locked room.

"Where's Pela?" Stelle glanced around.

Lynx pointed at the sealed door. "She's inside. Let's wait for her together."

"What's she doing?"

"You remember the disk I gave Pela before we parted, right?"

"Yeah. What was on it?"

"Penya Sergeyevna—do you know about her? Belobog's greatest polar explorer. Unfortunately, she met with an accident sixteen years ago."

"That name does sound familiar."

"Well, she was a pretty famous figure in Belobog. You might've heard someone mention her somewhere.

But let's get back on track. Actually, sixteen years ago, another major event happened—that was the year Pela was born."

Even someone as dense as Stelle could sense something off. She chose not to speak.

Lynx exhaled heavily. "I heard that back then, despite her pregnancy, Ms. Penya insisted on staying at the snowfield campsite. Though she couldn't go to the frontlines, she could still handle paperwork in the rear.

Then, the critical moment arrived. But that day, an accident occurred. On top of that, the expedition team got caught in a blizzard. The camp lost contact with the outside world, and everyone was at a loss.

The only silver lining was that Pela was born safely."

"So that disk…?"

"Right. That was the keepsake Ms. Penya left behind."

——

Now, the camera passed through the door, revealing Pela in the frame.

Pela stared at the phone in her hands. The screen's reflection made it impossible to see her current expression.

Outside, Lynx continued explaining the disk's contents to Stelle, like a voiceover.

"Before her death, Ms. Penya entrusted a colleague to bring her terminal and disk back to Belobog. Apparently, it contained a 'treasure' she had left for Pela.

She said that once Pela came of age, she'd naturally understand its contents.

However, the colleague Ms. Penya entrusted this to was attacked by Fragmentum creatures on the way back.

In the chaos, the disk was lost somewhere… In the end, all he managed to save was the terminal.

As for the exact contents, aside from Ms. Penya herself, no one ever read them. They only said she had left Pela many, many letters—

Starting from the moment she first sensed Pela's existence, all the way up to the day she gave birth. Not a single day was missed!"

Lynx's voice faded here.

Pela was crying—crying so hard it hurt. She read the messages from the disk—

A mother's final, desperate effort to give her unborn daughter everything she could.

"Mom!"

"Mom… Mom!"

[A Place Further Than the Universe!]

[A Mother's Strength Knows No Bounds!]

[Why are all of Belobog's stories so heartbreaking? Can't we have something lighthearted and funny like Silver Wolf's stories? At worst, Silver Wolf can just sacrifice her account again!]

[Silver Wolf: That's not funny!]

[Don't cry, Pela! Baby girl!]

[Tell me a joke—Space Comedy?]

[Pela's crying feels so real. I was wearing headphones, and when I heard her sobs, I couldn't help but cry along.]

[Yeah, the actors' performances are too good. It doesn't even feel like acting—more like it's really happening to them.]

[What's up with miHoYo lately? Why is it all just knife after knife? I'm seriously done!]

[Right? Something feels off. Why so many sudden emotional gut punches? Are they planning something big?]

[Oh no! Bros, about Luka's movie—I just heard from a friend who watched it. He said you won't sleep well after seeing it!]

[What can we do? Watch it anyway. Can it possibly be knifier than The Ring?]

[Well… true!]

The young man clicked on Luka's film.

"Might as well watch it. It's buy-one-get-one-free anyway.

My Beloved, My Flesh and Blood—surely they won't stab us again… right?"
