Honkai: Man(Sludge) From Future

Chapter 242: Tesla: Ein, You're a Little Too Passionate About the Far East, Aren't You?

Tesla had indeed received some bad news.

The bad news was that her diligent inventions and creations had dealt a blow to her homeland far heavier than any Herrscher could.

According to Einstein's explanation, the people in North America were on the verge of going insane.

First, they couldn't understand why Tesla had gone to the Far East to establish Academy City. Second, they couldn't understand why Tesla wasn't letting North Americans use her research first.

What was even more baffling was that Tesla's actions looked like a defection. It made her seem more like a person from the Far East than a North American.

Now, nationalistic sentiment was running high among many North Americans, with talk of finding a way to bring Dr. Tesla back.

"Bring her back," of course, meant using their fleet to capture her.

The US president's approval rating had already plummeted to an abysmal level. It probably wouldn't be long before some "ghost soldiers" crossed the border or a "dark election" event occurred.

Tesla was speechless. She had never felt that she had betrayed North America.

"I..." She didn't know what to say. After all, Tesla had lived there for so long, she still had some sense of national identity.

"I am a citizen of the world! How could I abandon the great cause of fighting the Honkai for a little bit of national sentiment! Besides, as long as we can endure and enter the age of interstellar exploration, the clamoring of these people will be nothing more than the buzzing of flies!"

Einstein didn't know what to say.

'You damn thing, now you're a citizen of the world? What about the whole Schicksal affair back then? Anti-Entropy's branch stirred up a lot of national sentiment to fight Schicksal.'

Of course, Einstein didn't think Tesla's choice was wrong. After all, with so many benefits, it was completely worth it for her to pledge allegiance to the people of the future.

But the loose ends had to be tied up. You couldn't be like a "four-pat official" who, after patting his thighs four times—once for brainstorming, once for deciding, once for taking action, and once for leaving—just packs up and leaves.

Noldrei was a little annoyed. He frowned and asked, "How about we just make North America split up? Then they won't have time to bother me."

"I..."

Tesla was stunned for a moment. She felt her own actions had been far too gentle. She asked dryly, "Why... why split up North America?"

"You're asking me why? Isn't that what America does all the time? They talk about national independence and self-determination, and then they split up other regimes. I can also promote racial and gender independence and self-determination. Then we can build a nation of men and a nation of women."

Noldrei didn't think there was anything wrong with what he said. The next step, of course, was the third task.

The separation of the species' reproductive system from the individual.

Einstein secretly glanced at Tesla and found that the woman was utterly useless, completely unable to persuade her own emperor. At least say a few words for your homeland! Tesla, why are you just staring blankly?!

Einstein had to step up herself. She cleared her throat and said, "That's not necessary. I think as long as we can share enough benefits, we can keep them stable. If possible, I personally suggest turning the Far East into a global citizen nation. As long as people from all countries can come to the Far East, wouldn't that be equivalent to people from the Far East being able to go to other countries?"

'Wait, have I seen this move somewhere before?!'

Tesla's head buzzed. It seemed like America had used a similar tactic on an "old friend" before.

'Ein, is this how you're saving America?'

She shot a look at her friend. Einstein's move was equivalent to directly blowing up the Far East government.

'What choice do I have? Otherwise, it's our home that's going to die.' Ein didn't seem to care at all.

The benefits of Academy City were so great. How could they only be open to the people of the Far East? People from all nations should be allowed to join in. It was just a matter of press-ganging people, something we North Americans are also capable of.

Einstein wasn't worried at all that Academy City couldn't accommodate so many people. She had great confidence in Tesla's recent research progress.

"That makes sense..."

Noldrei nodded, also thinking that Einstein's suggestion was more convenient. As the center of imperial rule, it was only right that talent from all over the world should flow there.

He didn't think that completely opening up the Far East was an infringement on its sovereignty. Noldrei's own ridiculous production capacity allowed him to siphon talent from the entire world.

Let the education systems of the entire world offer him their most beautiful tributes.

"Good, good, good! As expected of Dr. Tesla's friend!" Noldrei had never considered this problem before. He praised Einstein's quick wit repeatedly.

He turned to Tesla and scolded her, "See? You're both doctors. How come you're so far behind, Tesla? You should learn more from your friend!"

Tesla was infuriated by his words, but she couldn't find a reason to refute him.

'Weren't you the one who turned me into this! How dare you say that?'

Einstein now genuinely felt sorry for her friend. If Noldrei were a normal person, he definitely wouldn't have been able to escape Tesla's iron fist of justice.

"In that case, let's tentatively decide on this matter. I believe that once the Far East has the support of the whole world, it can better contribute to the fight against the Honkai world!"

Einstein looked very excited. It was impossible to tell if she had any ill will towards the Far East.

It was said that she was the one who helped America develop the atomic bomb to drop on the Far East. Dr. Einstein was indeed a person who "passionately" loved the land of the Far East.

"Tesla, about the Honkai... I mean, the Herrscher child thing. Do you want to reconsider? After all, not every Honkai Herrscher is so easy to control. I think you should be a little more careful."

Although Einstein couldn't persuade Noldrei, she had ways to persuade Tesla.

Tesla shook her head. "Contacting the Herrscher is the only way to know the Will of the Honkai. I believe that person, Otto, must have also met the Will of the Honkai through this path. This is my most direct feeling after becoming a Herrscher..."

She thought for a moment and said, "Back then, Otto controlled the Second Herrscher. He must have had a way to connect with the Second Herrscher's senses, so he could meet the Will of the Honkai through the Herrscher's body."

"There's only one way to know an existence, and that's to get close to it!"

Noldrei felt as if Tesla was throwing shade at him.

Einstein also felt there was something wrong with what Tesla said.

'You want to contact the Will of the Honkai, but you don't have to make two Herrscher children to play with, do you? Don't tell me, is that how you got to know the people of the future?!'

Einstein was truly confused. Herrscher Tesla was becoming more and more difficult to understand.
