Chapter 750: Chapter 750: Can I check your body?
Grindelwald looked at Andy intently.
The two men held vastly different views.
Grindelwald treated all wizards as his people. He was well aware of the rapid progress in the Muggle world and wanted to change the decaying wizarding world, and belive that otherwise wizards would have no future.
Andy, on the other hand, was different.
Andy cared only about himself.
Immortality? Power? Pushing the limits?
He wants it all for his own selfish reasons!
It is true that different minds think differently, but Grindelwald knows full well that he cannot possibly achieve everything on his own.
He has talent.
But that is all.
At present, if anyone can bring about a revolutionary development in magic, it is Andy.
If technology is the reason for the rapid development of the Muggle world, then magic is the basis of the wizarding world.
If the wizarding world wants to develop and change the status quo, progress must be made in magic.
Otherwise, it is all empty talk.
Today, it is no longer possible to breach the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy.
Not to mention the resistance within the wizarding world, the power of the Muggle world alone is enough to dissuade Grindelwald and his followers from attempting such a thing.
He is ambitious.
But he is also self-aware.
The hidden wizarding world still has a deterrent effect, but once it is put in plain sight of the Muggles, they will be met with cold-blooded persecution.
The destructive power of the Fiendfyre Curse is indeed very substantial. Once left unrestrained, the raging Fiendfyre is more than enough to destroy a city.
But so what?
There are far too few wizards.
And even fewer powerful ones.
How many people in the wizarding world today are willing to dedicate their lives to researching new branches of magic or developing and optimising the existing ones?
Take the British magical community as an example. The vast majority of wizards will stop practising magic after graduation. They just want to find a decent job and live a peaceful life.
As a result, even a fraud like Lockhart can become a 'master of magic' by relying on some books.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with this choice.
What's the point of studying magic?
In the end, isn't it all about making money to provide for your family?
The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy is partly to blame for this – the closed-off nature of the wizarding world has deprived wizards like Grindelwald of the chance of enslaving muggles.
Things still need to be done.
If it can't be done by enslaving muggles, then it has to be done by wizards themselves.
It takes the cooperation of many wizards and a standard overseeing government to enslave muggles.
Although only a few simple spells are needed for the actual task, to control the huge population of muggles, the wizards need to be united with a common goal.
This is one of the reasons for the decline of the wizarding world.
Decades ago, Grindelwald wanted to breach the International Statute of Secrecy precisely to bring this change.
It was the last chance for the wizarding world.
But he failed.
Grindelwald believed that the wizarding world would decline and eventually wither away, so he was willing to be imprisoned.
But the appearance of Andy gave him a glimmer of hope.
Progress in magic could allow the wizarding world to develop at the same rapid pace as the Muggle world.
Greater power! The hope of immortality!
These things could unite wizards and inspire them to strive for a common goal.
But... there was a catch.
It had to be accessible to all!
If only a few could learn it, then it would be meaningless to the wizarding world, even if it was powerful enough to destroy the world.
Grindelwald could not achieve this.
But in his opinion, Andy could!
This young man, before him, possessed a unique talent when it came to magic.
As a person with good talent in divination, he trusts his intuition, and he can now glimpse past many bleak endings he used to see; he can glimpse a progressing civilisation.
***
"Very well, Collins... if you're not interested in that, then perhaps we can talk about something else."
Grindelwald smiled, which eased the tension a little, and then he folded his arms and said, "For example, that new spell you've been working on."
"I believe you've become a living ghost; am I right?"
The fact that Andy had become a ghost was not reported in the newspapers, and many people even thought it was a joke.
After all, it was too unbelievable.
How could a living person become a ghost?
But Grindelwald knew the implications perfectly well!
"I call it True Soul."
Andy's interest was instantly piqued at the mention of magic.
Andy never minded discussing his knowledge of magic with anyone, provided they were genuinely capable.
"I told you before."
"Obscurus is the fusion of magic and the mind."
"And True Soul is the fusion of soul and mind."
At this mention, Andy suddenly had an idea. "To be honest, I've always wanted to test my current strength, but I've never found a suitable opponent."
Grindelwald: "..."
You want to duel me, an old man?
"If you wish, I can contact Dumbledore for you," Grindelwald said with a strange look in his eyes.
"Thanks, but I already have an appointment with him," Andy said with an open hand.
"That's perfect, then."
Grindelwald continued. "It's time for him to honour his promise."
Andy: "..."
OK!
It doesn't matter who he fights; what matters is whether they are strong enough.
It's actually difficult to define the combat power of a wizard.
Andy's situation is like this: he has abundant magic power, powerful magic attack power, incredibly fast spell casting speed, and a sufficient mastery of various spells, and he also has considerable combat experience.
If a ranking board for wizards suddenly appears, Andy would be at the top. There are very few people who can compare with Andy.
In terms of magic attack power alone, Andy surpasses everyone else. Even Dumbledore, with his Elder Wand, would be doomed if he fought Andy in a spell clash contest.
But this still cannot change the fact that Andy has a weak defence.
A weak defence is the common shortcoming of all wizards!
What Andy wanted to find out most now was his own defensive capabilities.
Back at Hogwarts, Andy and Hermione had tested it once, but the result was not satisfactory.
Hermione is just too weak for him.
She could not put him under enough pressure.
"Right!"
Grindelwald suddenly asked, "Can I have a look? What you called... the True Soul?"
"Of course," Andy said.
Immediately after he said that, Andy's body instantly slumped onto the sofa, and an illusory 'Andy' emerged from Andy's body.
This was Andy's Soul.
A living ghost!
"Great magic!"
Grindelwald's eyes shone as he looked at Andy's soul. "I can feel the life force within it... Collins, you have already mastered everything you need!"
After a pause, Grindelwald continued, "It seems that your Soul can use magic."
"Of course it can," Andy said with a big smile, then casually moved his finger, causing the cabinet nearby to fly up.
Grindelwald only glanced at it before fixing his gaze on Andy's body. "Do you mind if I check your body?"
Andy: "..."
"I do mind!" Andy said.
While speaking, Andy also looked at Grindelwald warningly.
"I'm just a little curious..."
Grindelwald held up his hands to show that he wouldn't do anything rash, then explained, "I just want to see if there is any magic or traces of the mind left in you."
"Magic transfiguration is a great innovation."
"It uses transfiguration to keep the magic of nature inside us."
"And magic and the mind have always been closely linked."
