Chapter 135: Chapter 135 ⭃ New Ideas, Candy Bombs
Not long after, Cedric and Cho arrived, making the compartment livelier. Everyone was delighted to reunite after two months apart.
Kyle wondered if Cho had grown taller since he'd last seen her. Upon entering, she placed a large package on the table — gifts of snacks from the Muggle world.
Since Kyle, Cedric, and Kanna came from pure-wizard families, she thought they'd enjoy trying these unfamiliar treats. She'd spent half a day selecting what she considered the tastiest items.
Everyone gathered around the treats with enthusiasm.
Cedric was particularly taken with a dark beverage that, despite its initial strangeness, had a unique flavor he preferred to pumpkin juice. It gave him such a feeling of joy that, had he not known it was Muggle-made, he would have suspected it contained Euphoria Elixir.
Kanna took to the triangular corn chips and fruit-filled cookies.
When the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan visited, they were fascinated by candies that "exploded" in their mouths.
"You know what?" Fred said, thoughtfully licking the wrapper, "We could develop our own exploding candy."
"And leave it on the Slytherin table." George said with a grin, "Might keep Marcus quiet for a few days... I heard he's been made Slytherin Quidditch Captain this year."
"That wouldn't work." Cedric said, shaking his head as he opened the last bottle of soda, "The Slytherins wouldn't touch anything suspicious-looking."
"What if we put it in the kitchen?" Lee suggested, "If it comes up with the regular food, no one would suspect."
"I wouldn't recommend that." Cedric frowned, "The house-elves wouldn't cooperate, and they'd face consequences if the food was tampered with."
"Oh... well, never mind then." Lee shrugged.
"Perhaps you could try a different approach." Kyle suggested, "Like candy that's normal while in your mouth but explodes after you spit it out."
Fred and George's eyes lit up simultaneously as they chimed in:
"Kyle, has anyone ever told you..."
"You're an absolute genius!"
Kyle raised an eyebrow slightly, "Of course, many people have."
"..."
The compartment fell silent as everyone gave him disapproving looks. Kyle remained unfazed, calmly eating his chocolate while gazing out the window. He spotted Neville on the platform, looking around anxiously while Augusta stood beside him, sternly scolding him.
He also noticed Molly walking toward the train with three children in tow: Ron, Ginny, and a skinny boy wearing round glasses, his messy hair falling in an uneven fringe that just covered his forehead.
"Molly!" Kyle leaned against the window and waved.
"Oh, dear, there you are." Molly hurried over, "Have you seen Fred and George?"
"We're here, Mum!" The twins answered and headed out toward the platform.
"By the way, Kyle, what were you doing during summer break?" Cho asked after they left, holding up a Chocolate Frog, "The letter I sent you in August took almost half a month to get a reply."
Kyle replied somewhat sheepishly, "Uh... something came up suddenly, and I had to go away for a while."
In fact, he had received Cho's letter on his second day in Dorset, but he had been too busy getting beaten up at the time and completely forgot about replying. By the time he remembered, he was already back home.
She didn't question it, assuming Kyle had gone traveling like Cedric.
"I'm so envious of you both." She said dreamily, nibbling her Chocolate Frog, "I'd love to travel abroad too. What did you think of Paris?"
The last question was directed at Cedric.
"It was a wonderful trip." He reflected, "At the opera, we met an old wizard who immediately recognized us as magical folk and showed us many fascinating places. If you want to visit, I can draw up an itinerary for you."
"That would be wonderful!" Cho exclaimed, "I've always wanted to see Paris. Did you visit Beauxbatons Academy of Magic?"
"Yes." Cedric nodded, "Though Beauxbatons isn't in Paris — it's in the Pyrenees mountains in the south. The old wizard told us that."
"What's it like?" Cho asked.
"We only saw it from the outside." Cedric said, "It's slightly smaller than Hogwarts, but the architecture is more refined and quite beautiful."
Cho's eyes sparkled with longing — she had always been drawn to beautiful architecture, especially when it belonged to another famous magical school.
While the two were talking, Kyle glanced out the window again.
On the platform, Molly was wiping dirt off Ron's nose with a handkerchief. Beside her, the bespectacled boy had disappeared, replaced by Percy.
George looked at him and frowned.
"Percy, why is your robe different from ours?" He gestured at his chest, "They're both new robes, but why don't I have that round badge? Did Madam Malkin cut corners with mine?"
"Dear, that's a prefect's badge — only prefects get them." Molly said with a smile.
"Oh, so that's a prefect badge! No wonder you've been wearing it all summer." Fred said dramatically, "Good thing it wasn't an Award for Special Services to the School."
"That's a trophy, isn't it?" George asked.
"Can't pin that to your chest—"
"But you could wear it on your head—"
"Like a golden hat!"
Fred and George exchanged mischievous glances, then magically produced a trophy from their robes. They balanced it on their heads and began mimicking Percy's pompous manner of greeting.
"Shut up!" Percy snapped, his face flushing red with anger.
