His only Cure

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Sophie stepped back angrily.

"I'll do my thing. You have no need to worry about me. And now, since you've gone and said what you had to, goodbye"

She pointed to the door. Darell took his jacket and left her apartment.

"Fuck it! I have to go to the shooting range because I'm about to lose it"

She waited a few minutes before leaving. She took the keys for the Mercedes and headed to the shooting range. Once there, she bought more bullets, knowing that she had to shoot a little before she calmed down. She fired three clips in fury and the remaining three in relief. She got home just before 10 p.m. She washed the smell of the shooting range off her and went to bed.

With unlimited access to cash, she could speed things up. She was going to go crazy and take over as many clients as possible from her former company. They will regret not taking it seriously. The next morning she didn't wait until seven. At six o'clock she entered the company, collected her pass and went straight to her office. She got to work hard, preparing all the necessary documents, without knowing when the others started arriving at the office. They gave a quiet, slightly forced nod of good morning before taking their seats. When the last person entered the office, Sophie got out of her office and handed out papers to people.

"The boss expects the best results from us this week, so we have to get down to work. Our focus will be on taking away as many Forza customers as possible. Knowing most of them will give us an advantage. I am asking you to be willing and determined in your tasks. I'm counting on you" She looked at all her slightly surprised co-workers and returned to her work.

"Yes, Sophie!" Diana shouted excitedly, grabbing her documents. It's possible that they took over her speech about the boss counting on everyone, no one raised any objections and just got down to work. With the instructions provided by the manager, the work went smoothly and without any problems. From time to time, Diana came over to ask Sophie a few details, which she explained to her with great precision. Seeing this, two people from the office dared to approach and ask about their tasks, which made her very happy. Seeing the amount of work, everyone came to an agreement not to go out for lunch. All they need to do is place an order and eat at the office. It was a long and tiring day. Even the ever-active Diana was much calmer. As the employees began to head home, Sophie emerged from her office.

"I want to thank you all for today. You made the job go smoothly and efficiently. Always fighting with this company for customers, I had to give my all, knowing how good people work here. Now being here with you and working alongside you, I know that I couldn't dream of a better job. Let's try to make the rest of the week go equally well. Rest. See you tomorrow" She thanked from the bottom of her heart.

If they caused her trouble, she would have a much harder time achieving her goal. But if they keep up this pace... the boss will be pleasantly surprised and the ex-father will be incredibly pissed off. A smile appeared on the woman's tired face. She returned to her laptop, knowing that this was just the beginning and she couldn't afford to make any mistakes. Sophie was very happy today. Not only was work going smoothly, but she didn't see her beloved boss today. She calmly returned to the apartment after 6 p.m. She poured herself a whole tub of hot water and took a long, relaxing bath. She made herself something quick to eat and, regardless of the hour, went to sleep. She needed rest to be at her best for these few days. She couldn't afford to make the slightest mistake.

She woke up at five as usual. She did her morning toilette, ate something light and went to work. Today was practically no different from yesterday. Before the other employees came to the office, Sophie prepared everyone's tasks for the day. This time, when they entered, they greeted the woman and immediately sat down to their tasks without asking anything. Diana returned with a new dose of energy and was ready to use it for the manager. No one disturbed anyone, work went smoothly. From time to time, Sophie checked whether everything was done correctly. The phones started to ring and everyone started making appointments with clients. They had to be careful about the times and places so that nothing overlapped or the meeting places weren't too far from each other. The next day was filled with meetings. Each of them was supposed to feature Sophie, which is why their timing was so important.

"Another effective day behind us. Once again, thank you all for your cooperation and may tomorrow be a successful day"

Looking over the documents needed for the meetings one last time, Sophie started to head home. Suddenly her desk phone rang. Without thinking for a moment, the woman answered the phone.

"Miss Sophie, this is assistant Noah. Could you please come over to the boss's office?" A man's voice rang out.

"When I was just leaving" She started reluctantly. "Did something happen?" She asked, thinking it might be something important.

"Please come to the sixth floor. I'll explain everything in a moment" The conversation is over. Without thinking twice, Sophie took the elevator to the next floor and headed to the large glass doors behind which was her boss's office. Noah was waiting for her outside the door, looking worried.

"Please forgive me for getting straight to the point, but did our boss ever fall asleep next to you?" He looked pleadingly. The woman looked at him suspiciously.

"Maybe... What's the point?" She waited patiently for him to hear the explanation when suddenly a menacing voice could be heard from behind the door.

"Noah! Where are these documents!" Darell exclaimed impatiently. "Should I go get them myself?!"

Sophie raised an eyebrow at the scared assistant.

"I'm on it, boss!" He exclaimed, grabbing the girl's hand and whispering in a hurry.

"The boss has trouble sleeping. The longer he doesn't sleep, the worse his mood gets, and he can become really dangerous when he doesn't sleep for more than two days. And so much has passed. I'm begging you" He shook her hands. "Go in there and convince him to rest. If he slept next to you before, maybe it will work out now" He pleaded silently.

"I'll try" Sophie whispered, dissatisfied. She was a wise woman. She didn't need any more explanations, knowing what was happening to him. She went inside and noticed a man exhausted from work. For a moment, she felt sorry for him, seeing how hard he worked for his company. His menacing face suggested, Mess with me and I'll kill you. She walked slowly to the desk and crouched down next to his chair.

"Darell" The man turned a menacing look at the woman. "It's time to rest" She carefully placed her hand on his.

"What are you doing here? You have nothing to do?" He said hoarsely.

"I have. And it's a lot, but I know when I need to rest" She explained gently. "Although" She stood up without letting go of his hand. "Let's recharge the batteries for tomorrow and start it with double strength"

Listening to her delicate voice, his face softened. He stood up in silence and allowed himself to be led by her. The problem was that she didn't know where to take him. Luckily, Noah was waiting at the door. Seeing his boss calm, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Take him to the top floor. He has his own apartment there" He whispered quickly so that the man wouldn't see him. Sophie nodded and led him to the elevator.

"How do you feel seeing me like this?" He muttered under his breath.

"How strong and determined you are in what you do" She looked into his tired eyes. "And how stupid you are, bringing yourself to such a state" She finished, looking at the elevator door.

"Are you saying this remembering that a few days ago I picked you up from the floor of your hotel room?" He asked, staring at her figure.

"That was different. You bring yourself to this state of your own free will. From what I heard, this wasn't the first time"

Sophie was pulled by the hand she was holding him with, landing in his arms.

"Nobody will tell me how to work" He threatened furiously. However, the woman was not afraid to face him. She was doing him a favor by helping him rest.

"I'm not telling you how to work" She didn't break eye contact. "Don't you think you'll be more effective rested? Why are you so eager?" She tried to understand him.

"You don't need to worry" He grabbed her chin.

"I'm not going to" She replied quickly and firmly. The elevator opened. After he punched his code, she irritably entered his apartment, still holding his hand, which he held just as tightly. She turned to him, standing in the middle of the large living room.

"What are you waiting for?" She grumbled seeing him standing motionless. "Go rest"

"I'm hungry" He muttered.

"I'm going crazy... Go freshen up. I'll do something soon" Irritated, she went to the kitchen and started taking food out of the fridge.

Darell returned in just his shorts, drying his wet hair with a towel. Something in the kitchen already smelled nice. He went to sit on the kitchen chair and silently watched Sophie bustle around his kitchen, muttering threats every now and then. She placed the prepared meal in front of the man, not even paying attention to his muscular body. She put the second portion in front of her and started eating as if nothing had happened. They ate their meal in silence. The plates ended up in the sink. Without asking her opinion, the man took her hand and led her to his bedroom. Sophie bit her lower lip, trying not to say something stupid.

"Today you will sleep here" He ordered, pushing her onto the bed.
