Chapter 191: Loki Vs Mahiro
Chapter 191 - Loki Vs Mahiro
After Mahiro words fell, the guild fell silent.
Not only Loki, but the adventurers nearby also looked at Mahiro in disbelief.
"Unbelievable! Did I hear that right?"
"Good thing I didn't head to the dungeon today; I wouldn't have seen this otherwise."
"This guy's in trouble now!"
"Loki isn't the type to let something like this slide. She's bound to retaliate."
"What a reckless fool. Doesn't he know actions like this can bring disaster, maybe even trouble for his Familia?"
"That goddess beside him—I remember she's been recruiting members here lately. Did she invite him?"
"No wonder—he's a rookie."
"Poor guy. His adventuring career is over before it even starts."
After a brief silence, the adventurers in the guild broke into heated discussion, eagerly watching the conflict between Mahiro and Loki.
Some were amused, others regretful, but most were just enjoying the show.
Since the gods descended to the lower world, they held a transcendent position among mortals.
Though, over time, the divine status had somewhat diminished due to familiarity and self-imposed limitations by the gods, the respect mortals held for them had not entirely disappeared.
To put it metaphorically, in the hierarchy of the lower world, gods were akin to royalty, while mortals were commoners.
A commoner openly confronting royalty? The very idea seemed naive.
"Oh, did you just say you were going to hit me?"
Ignoring the murmurs around her, Loki narrowed her eyes dangerously, scrutinizing Mahiro with a mix of curiosity and amusement.
"Hestia is my goddess," Mahiro said firmly, his voice calm but resolute. "What you just said about her was excessive."
"I can't stand idly by while you insult her, even if you are a god."
"Quite the loyal one to Hestia, aren't you?" Loki's smirk deepened as she turned to Hestia.
"Little runt, where'd you find this amusing kid?"
"Did he come crawling out of some backwater village? Hah! He even wants to hit me! Hahahaha!"
"Loki, that's too much!"
Hestia's expression grew serious.
What had initially been a conflict between her and Loki now involved Mahiro.
Mahiro had stepped in to defend her, and Loki was targeting him because of it.
Hestia couldn't let this slide.
"You're accusing me of going too far?"
"This kid interrupted our conversation, accused me of being in the wrong, and now he wants to hit me!" Loki retorted angrily.
"Loki, stop this," Ais interjected, unable to remain silent.
Loki's remarks had been uncalled for, and it was clear she had provoked Mahiro first.
Blaming him now was unreasonable.
"Fine, fine, since our precious Ais says so, I'll let this slide." Loki shot Mahiro a dismissive glance.
"But since this kid offended me, is it really too much to ask for an apology?"
Her gaze lingered on Mahiro briefly before shifting away.
To her, he was just another insignificant boy.
"Ais, you see how much I listen to you? You should reward me later," Loki added with a sly grin.
"Apologize? You're absolutely right," Mahiro replied with a cold smile.
"If there's no apology, someone's bound to get hurt today."
The entire guild went silent again, and then murmurs erupted.
"Is this guy insane? Loki was about to let him go!"
"Doesn't he realize who she is? Behind her stands one of Orario's strongest Familias!"
"Loki, you heard me," Mahiro continued nonchalantly. "If you don't apologize, this won't end well."
Loki's playful demeanor vanished.
Her eyes narrowed, and a dangerous light flickered within them.
"Mahiro, maybe you should..." Hestia grabbed his hand nervously, fearing what might happen next.
"It's fine. I can handle this," Mahiro said reassuringly, smiling confidently.
"Alright," Hestia said softly, though worry lingered in her gaze.
Deep down, she resolved to support her Mahiro, even if it meant humbling herself to Loki later.
Meanwhile, Ais watched silently but chose not to intervene.
It was clear to her that Mahiro was a complete rookie adventurer, barely distinguishable from an ordinary person.
For someone of her caliber, interfering would be nothing short of bullying.
And this time, it was Loki who had started the trouble.
"Fine, I'll handle this myself!" Loki rolled up her sleeves.
"You've tarnished my dignity. It's only fair I teach you a lesson!"
Gods had sealed their Arcanum, but their inherent powers often remained.
Loki, despite not being a war god, was no stranger to combat and could easily handle an ordinary mortal—or so she thought.
She stepped forward confidently, only for Mahiro to calmly release Hestia's hand and raise his foot.
Thud!
A muffled sound echoed as Loki was sent sprawling by a single kick from Mahiro.
