Chapter 186: Falna

Chapter 186 - Falna

When Mahiro sat down, Hestia bit her finger and let a drop of blood fall onto Mahiro's back.

As the blood made contact, a faint blue light emerged, spreading across Mahiro's back.

A slightly warm sensation appeared where the blood had fallen.

It wasn't painful, but it felt unusual.

Within the faint blue light, Hestia lightly tapped with her fingers.

At her touch, rows of cryptic, mysterious characters appeared out of thin air.

These characters seemed alive, arranging themselves mid-air, rotating and undulating in synchronization.

Before long, the characters organized into a sequence, projecting like a translucent panel in front of Hestia.

Simultaneously, intricate patterns began to form on Mahiro's back.

It was a peculiar design resembling a stove and a torch.

These inscriptions and symbols were sacred characters used by the gods.

Using divine blood as a medium, these sacred characters were engraved onto the bodies of adventurers, forming a Falna.

Those who received Falna would have their body's inherent limitations lifted, drawing out all their latent potential.

At this moment, Mahiro's existence transformed into something akin to a blank book.

Hestia's role was to record Mahiro's journey and experiences.

While Mahiro's growth and achievements would manifest as his Parameters.

This was divided into four main categories: Level, Basic Abilities, Magic, and Skill.

"Success!"

Hestia let out a delighted cheer.

"Is it over?" Mahiro asked.

"Why does it feel like nothing has changed, apart from feeling a bit warm?"

After all, it was divine blood.

Shouldn't it have caused some noticeable improvement?

Unfortunately, Mahiro couldn't perceive any difference before or after receiving the Falna.

"Hahaha, Mahiro-kun, did you think that receiving a Falna would suddenly make you feel like..."

Hestia giggled and then lowered her voice slightly, exaggerating her tone.

"Like power surging through your body?"

"Hmpf!"

Mahiro rolled his eyes.

However, Hestia's attitude had notably shifted.

She no longer behaved cautiously or reservedly.

"Mahiro-kun is now my most important Familia member!"

Hestia gleefully hugged Mahiro from behind, showing no restraint.

A warm, soft sensation pressed against Mahiro's back, especially as two distinct masses made contact.

"Actually, the Falna granted by us gods isn't power; it's merely an introduction—a starting point."

"A catalyst?" Mahiro added.

"Yes, exactly, like a catalyst." Hestia rested her chin on Mahiro's shoulder and nodded lightly.

"Unlike us gods, who are eternal and unchanging, people of the lower world are highly adaptable."

"Within your bodies lies something we gods lack—a factor called possibility."

"This is a concept even we gods cannot fully understand."

"All we can do is guide your potential, transforming your experiences and efforts into growth, change, or even failure."

"Like seeds planted in the ground, the results vary depending on the environment."

"That's why, at the moment of receiving a Falna, there's no immediate power gain."

"Only through experience can your potential be converted into growth, and I, as your goddess, guide that process."

"Can divine blood be used for strengthening?" Mahiro asked suddenly.

The concept of the Falna was as he had expected, but the divine blood...

"It can, but it's strictly forbidden among the gods."

"We agreed not to interfere forcibly with the growth of people. That's the rule we all established."

Hestia answered earnestly.

"Mahiro-kun, don't even think about it. If discovered, it would be a grave matter."

"I have no interest in it; I was just curious about it."

While divine blood could potentially strengthen adventurers, its effects were likely limited.

For Mahiro, it wasn't particularly valuable.

He was more focused on completing system quests efficiently.

"Can I see my status?"

"Sure."

Hestia shifted her focus on his back.

"This...!"

Seeing the Status, Hestia's expression shifted to one of surprise.

"What's wrong?" Mahiro asked curiously.

"Wait, let me record the Status."

Hestia took a parchment, pressed them against Mahiro's back, tapped twice, and translated the characters into ordinary text.

"All done!"

Hestia removed the parchment and handed it to Mahiro.

Adjusting his posture, Mahiro read the contents.
