Young Tae Jin: *Sigh,

*************

"Hey, what are we having for dinner? I'm starving" Sung-Yoon asked, smiling like an idiot. Sorry, she really was an idiot! Since her arrival, has she noticed any food around? Maybe there were invisible cooked meals on the dinner plus snacks and fruits which only she could see.

Stupid girl.

Dinner? She was basically asking for the impossible!!

"Dear Sung-Yoon" oh, that strained smile on Hae Jin's face as he said this really scared the hell out of her!

"W—What's the matter Hae Jin?" she asked hesitantly, nervous but Hae Jin did not answer her question, continuing what he wanted to say.

"Do you seriously think I have food in this house? Oh, maybe you think I cooked dinner and stored them inside the old unplugged fridge which has been looking useless for years!" Oh, he snapped, looking like he could kill her any moment now.

And she was already dead.

What the...... Just what did she do? She only asked if there was food........ Wait a moment,

Food?

"Don't tell me, have you been starving all this while?! Have you been starving for the past 6 years?!!" She couldn't even bring herself to be in Hae Jin's shoes. Starving for years?!!

God!, at this moment, she just realized she was 100% lucky. Not even once has she starved since her death. In the cemetery, she used to s—*Clear throat, she used to take food on the graves of the souls who had already departed to the afterlife.

Sometimes, she would also go out and s—*Clear throat, she didn't steal! No she didn't! She only took food from restaurants, snack shops and others.

But of course, the food she took didn't go noticed, after all, she only took the souls of the food.

Which meant, she had her fill and the humans she st—,took from also had theirs.

"No" Hae Jin finally answered her question, "A woman......" Come to think of it, he never got her name. Well, whatever.

"A woman comes by the house once every year and for some reason, she always leaves a small size of strawberry cake and drink it behind. I don't know if it is for me or for someone else" Maybe the woman brought it for someone she knew who used to stay in the house and was now dead.

Who knew? He was just glad she did.

"Yeah, even I'm confused by her actions. So, has she already come by?"

"No. And I'm a little worried about her. I hope she's not sick" or wasn't dead already. The woman was kind to him, intentionally or not. She was and he has come to like her.

"Wait, did you say once every year? Like Once every year? You have been eating once every year?!"

"That's right" And why did Sung-Yoon look so shocked?

"You fool?! Don't look at me as if I'm stupid?!!!" Oh, it showed on his face? He really was thinking she was stupid.

"You have been eating once every year!! Do you think that's something to brag about?! You have literally been starving!!"

"No, because for some reason, having my fill once a year actually satisfies me for the whole year"

"Uh?" What the...... What was he talking about? She was confused and lost.

"You, did you just say what I think I heard?"

"Yes, Sung-Yoon"

"You're weird"

"And you realize this now?"

"Why can't you just stop talking back? Let me be the one to win sometimes"

"Well, I can't have that"

Sung-Yoon rolled her eyes before saying, "Okay, whatever, just stay here, I'll go get food for both of us. I can't sleep on an empty stomach"

"You're a ghost"

"Yet I still eat to survive"

"Yeah but you won't die. I mean you're already dead" Sung-Yoon nodded as she said, "True"

"But still, why do we still get hungry even though we're already dead?"

"Well, I guess even though we're dead, the strong feeling of starvation still exists. What the heck am I even saying? I don't know"

Yeah, for a moment there, she did not make sense. But then..........

"I guess we still haven't left behind everything that makes us human," Sung-Yoon nodded, thinking he was right.

"We're still living after all. Well, even if we cross over to the afterlife, we will still live, but it will be the beginning of a new life. A life filled with happiness, relief, joy and calmness. With no negativity"

Hae Jin smiled at her, judging by how she was describing the afterlife, it was like she had been there. And Hae Jin found himself liking the idea of crossing over to the other side.

However.......he will only be able to do that if he found his special one.

How frustrating!!! Hae Jin yelled in mind.

"Hey, I'll go find food for us," Sung-Yoon said, getting up. Hae Jin rolled his eyes and said, "You mean steal" Feeling offended, Sung-Yoon glared at him as she said,

"I'm not a thief" and Hae Jin chuckled, saying,

"We both know you are"

"How can I be one if they don't realize their food is missing? Anyway, stay safe I'll be back" and just like that, Sung-Yoon left for the front door, shouting, "And don't open the door for strangers!!"

"What am I a 4 year old kid?" Hae Jin yelled out in annoyance. Smiling at his response, Sung-Yoon walked through the front door, exiting the house as if it was nothing. Hae Jin would have been so jealous if he saw it.

He couldn't get out no matter how many times he tried, but Sung-Yoon was able to do it as easily as breathing. That's if she had no 'breathing issues' which Sung-Yoon didn't because she was dead.

*Sigh, he sighed, leaned into the couch as he stare

d up at the ceiling. Desperately hoping Sung-Yoon would return soon. He never liked it when he was alone.

He felt lonely already.
