Chapter 10

Author: Thank you for reading 'He's Special To Me'

****A Piece Of Information****

Ghosts with special ones can only touch their special one without using powers. And special ones, can only touch the ghosts chosen for them to help them figure out their past life and settle any unfinished businesses.

*********

"Okay so, ghosts can touch physical objects"

That kind of explains why he could touch the plastic fork, the strawberry cake and can drink the woman left behind every time she came by.

"Of course, but since we don't want to be viewed as rude spirits or scare off humans, we sometimes prefer to wait until food or whatever it is, is offered to us" Then, did that mean the old woman left the food for him?

Was that the reason why he could touch the food? Or was it something else?

"I could touch the dessert the woman used to leave behind, does it mean she offered it to me?"

Sung-Yoon hummed, thinking about, "I don't know. It could be. It could also be you stole it from the real soul she offered to" she answered seconds later.

That could be true but he wasn't going to admit it. "I'm not like you. I didn't steal"

"Say whatever you want darling but we both know the truth" Smart mouth! So annoying.

"Anyway, so, ghosts can freely touch food offered to them?"

"That's right. If it is not offered to you, you can only touch and take it by using your powers"

Hold on,..... ghosts had powers?!

Seriously! Sung-Yoon was making him even more confused.

So now what? Did he use his powers or was it offered to him?

Gosh, he had no idea.

"Back to where I ended," Sung-Yoon said, drawing Hae Jin out of his thoughts. He looked up at her, attentive, ready to hear whatever she had to say.

"Ghosts uses powers to touch physical objects"

Really now? He was still confused.

"But we can't use too much of our powers or we will disappear" Sung-Yoon said. So, at the end, she had to share this with Hae Jin. She didn't want him to know anything about ghosts being able to use powers. However, on this subject, she had no choice but to do exactly that.

"Disappear?" Hae Jin asked, a brow raised in question. "Now don't disturb me, I'll say everything in a go then you can ask questions later"

"Hmmm" Hae Jin hummed in reply, " As I said before, ghosts can touch physical objects, only possible with powers. And if one overuses their powers, he or she will disappear"

'Disappear?' Hae Jin said horrifyingly in mind, this time, looking at Sung-Yoon with widened eyes. Almost like it was the first time he was hearing of this.

"Yes, disappear from existence. Humans who can see ghosts, and ghosts won't be able to see you. You'll be completely invincible. But is different for ghosts with special ones"

Different? How so?

"Ghosts who have special ones (In their lives) can touch physical objects when given permission by their special ones. That's to say, their special ones are the bosses of them"

Wow, that....sounded complicated. Was he stupid or was Sung-Yoon a bad teacher cause he still couldn't understand.

"Ghosts who have special ones but hasn't met them or aren't in their lives and ghosts who have no special ones can't touch physical objects unless is offered to him or they use their powers"

She was confusing him again! *Sigh, but then,..........he got a bit of it and if he was right, from what Sung-Yoon just said,.........the woman offered the food to him. He was a ghost who didn't know how to use his powers, neither did he have a special one. Yet, he was able to take the dessert the woman always left behind. Which meant, it was given to him.

It was offered to him.

Before Hae Jin could share this information with Sung-Yoon, she continued sharing what she knew.

"That's why they (Ghosts who have special ones but aren't in their lives) intend to stick close to ghosts who don't need special ones. Mostly they stick close to ghosts who aren't waiting for their time to crossover to the afterlife. That's all I know. I don't know anything else. Any questions?"

"You know, you should have told me all this earlier"

Though it was still confusing.

"Any question?" And Sung-Yoon ignored his words.

Yes, he did.

"Yeah, can ghosts touch humans with their powers?"

"Listen Hae Jin, there's a limit to everything you do and in this case, our limit is using our powers to touch humans. We (Ghosts who have no special ones) can never touch them" Sung-Yoon said, avoiding his gaze. She was definitely hiding something from him.

Surely, something related to ghosts touching humans.

"Anyway, that's all you need to know. And keep this in mind, the fact that you can touch things doesn't mean you have to overdo it. Don't touch or hold up something when there are people who can't see you around. They will freak out and probably think they're going crazy"

Hae Jin smiled, oh he knew that.

"Because they can only see the item hanging in the air and not us," he said amusingly.

"Exactly!" Sung-Yoon exclaimed, bursting out laughter, "I did it once at the cemetery. I was holding one of the breads offered to a soul who already crossed to the afterlife. You should have seen the horrified faces of the people around who couldn't see me but just the bread hanging in the air. They freaked out, screaming in horror as they ran" Sung-Yoon said through laughter and Hae Jin watched her, listening attentively with a smile.

"Some dude even wet his pants as he ran, crying and screaming as if he saw an evil ghost or something. Oh, dear, that day I laughed so hard"

"I can see, you must have had a lot of fun," he said and chuckled.

"I did! Until Chae Joon smacked me on the head. I can still feel the pain. It hurt so bad" Hae Jin burst out laughter, saying, "Well, you deserved it, you can't go around scaring people"

"Huh? That's exactly what he said. But you know, I didn't do it intentionally. They just came at the wrong time and I also didn't know we take the soul of a food"

Well, if she said so.

"By the way, has your kid come around?" The smile fell off his face at the thought of Tae Jin. He really wanted to see the kid, spend time with him but.........

"No, he hasn't" he replied, sadly. Sung-Yoon sympathized with him, feeling sorry for him. This was the reason why ghosts shouldn't have any connection with humans.

Cause at the end of the day, humans aren't ghosts, they still had their own lives and still had to part ways.

Sung-Yoon strongly believes Tae Jin was Hae Jin's special one even though it hasn't been proven yet. It was just a strong feeling she had and strongly believed.

In any case, she had to change the subject because she didn't like seeing Hae Jin sad.

Seriously, it hasn't even been that long and she already cared about him?

"Oh, Hae Jin"

"Huh?"

"We haven't eaten yet. Let's have our breakfast" Sung-Yoon said, getting up from the couch she sat on with Hae Jin.

Reaching for the bags she brought, she took them, getting back on her seat as she looked at Hae Jin with a smile and thankfully, he smiled back.

"I got three loaves of bread and four cans of juice. This will last us two days"

"Yeah, right. That's if you don't finish them all overnight" Sung-Yoon frowned at his words, "I'm not a foodie"

Hae Jin laughed amusingly, "And you think I believe you?"

"You can believe whatever you want. I don't mind but never say it out loud" Hae Jin burst out laughing, and Sung-Yoon stared, completely mesmerized.

It was hard to look away.

Heavens, Hae Jin was the most attractive when he laughed or smiled.

Such a shame he was dead.

Made her wonder if he had a girlfriend.

Well, she couldn't ask him that, after all he had no memories of his past life.

Poor soul.

He and Chae Joon were the same. Poor souls.
