chapter 21
[Global] ImSoSleepy: ?
[Global] ImSoSleepy: What are you doing?ㅋㅋ
I pretended to be flustered as I typed in chat, opening my inventory window at the same time. I quickly downed the potions I’d been saving—the Magic Attack Increase potion, Cast Speed Increase potion, HP Regen Increase potion, and Mana Boost potion, one after the other.
Couldn’t use these during raids since CottonCandyFox was always buffing me up. Guess this is how they end up getting used.
[Global] Ganbok: Fuck are you doing, dumbassㅋ
[Global] ImSoSleepy: ㄷㄷ
It was 2v1, but both of them were still untransformed, pre-max-level players like me. Definitely doable.
Judging by their weapons, one’s a Ru Mage like me, the other’s a Spear Fighter. So I’ve gotta handle both ranged and melee at once, huh.
I quickly ran through the skill lists for Mages and Spear Fighters in my head. Usually, before class advancement, you only get 6 or 7 offensive skills max.
If I can just stop the Ru Mage from casting Ice Spear—the 5-second immobilize spell—they’ve got, I’ll be fine. Sure, it limits my own skill options, but can’t be helped.
Whenever there’s both ranged and melee on the enemy side, you always kill the ranged one first. That’s basically universal in most games.
I activated my shield that reduces stagger time and melee damage, determined not to get clipped by magic. Just as I did, the Spear Fighter’s skills came flying at me.
Chiiiing—accompanied by that sharp sound, I used my dodge skill. That attack, the one where they hurl the spear like a projectile, leaves a marker on you that lets the Spear Fighter dive in instantly. No way in hell I could get hit by that—it’s one of those untargeted skills you have to dodge.
As expected, the Ru Mage was behind the Spear Fighter, charging up Ice Spear. So careless. Seriously.
The moment my dodge ended, I immediately started charging Chain Lightning. Basic skill—stuns the enemy for 1 second and deals damage.
It’s kinda meh for PvE—short CC, not much damage—but I’ve got a stack of buff potions running, and the enemy’s a squishy Mage. This is more than enough.
Thanks to the cast speed boost potion, the charge finished in about 0.3 seconds, and I fired Chain Lightning straight at the Ru Mage.
[Global] aoko1: ?
The Ice Spear they’d been charging broke off abruptly, their HP bar chunked by 15%, and the flustered Mage spammed chat. Seeing that damage, I grinned.
Way higher output than I expected. Probably thanks to my attack buff, but judging by the numbers, their gear’s weak too.
The Spear Fighter, now visibly panicking, started swinging wildly. Obvious attack patterns—aside from two targeted skills, I dodged everything easily. Plus, with my shield up, even the ones that landed barely did anything.
I weaved between their attacks with dodges and positioning, spamming Chain Lightning into the Ru Mage.
Because my cast speed outpaced their stun recovery, the Mage was stuck in a near-perma-stun loop, unable to even move, much less cast spells.
[Global] aoko1: Ah
[Global] aoko1: Fuck
The Mage died without even fighting back, eating nine consecutive Chain Lightnings. With the ranged DPS down, things were way easier ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) now.
But I’m just as squishy, so if the Spear Fighter gets too close, it’s still dangerous. Keeping my guard up, I cast Flamethrower—a fire spell.
Fwoooosh. Flames burst outward in a diamond shape from my character, the searing visual effect flooding the area. This skill’s basically made for frying melee classes—it’s one of the best AoE counters.
The Spear Fighter, charging into the flames, started glitching out mid-animation as their HP bar melted under the stagger and DoT effects.
Didn’t need to do anything fancy. As long as I kept Flamethrower cycling, they’d never get close. They seemed to realize it too—once their health dipped below 30%, they panicked and tried to run.
[Global] ImSoSleepy: ㅋㅋㅋ
Like hell I’m letting you go, dumbass. Smirking, I typed the message and cast Chain Lightning again, same one I used to wreck the Mage.
Damage wasn’t as high as before, but whatever—they were caught in CC, no escape possible. I just kept spamming it like before.
Kraaagh! With the final hit, the Spear Fighter collapsed next to the dead Mage. Winning the 2v1, I felt the tension leave my body as I casually looted the ground.
In field PvP, there’s a chance players drop equipped items on death. The Ru Mage dropped their staff, and the Spear Fighter lost a bracelet with movement speed buffs.
[Global] ImSoSleepy: Maybe work on your skills
[Global] ImSoSleepy: Instead of talking shit behind people’s backsㅋㅋ
Compared to my fight with Yoo Chae, this was laughably easy. Still, venting some stress wasn’t bad.
Guess I’ll just keep the loot. My current staff and bracelet are better, but after all that shit-talking, no way I’m giving their stuff back.
‘Screw the bonus quest, I’ll just go do something else.’
Came out here planning to grind, but idiots like that killed my motivation.
I reached for a return scroll, ready to teleport back to Veritas City—but that’s when the bad feeling hit me hard.
“…!”
I hit dodge just as my screen flashed red with the damage marker. Rolling away with only 30% HP left, I spun the camera to the right.
[Global] Sangdanghan: Oooh
[Global] Sangdanghan: You dodged that, huh
Swords rained down from the sky—War Lord’s ultimate skill. A bleed debuff popped next to my health bar, my regen slowing to a crawl.
[Global] ImSoSleepy: ?
Across the field stood a pure-white character, gleaming from head to toe. The two swords in their hands sparkled gold—definitely +9 weapons.
Guild tag:
‘But the guild master himself shows up? Seriously?’
I was so done, my head hurt. What the hell, this guy’s worse than Yoo Chae.
[Global] Sangdanghan: ㅋㅋㅋ hey
The way he casually greeted me, like we were old friends, made my skin crawl.
[Global] ImSoSleepy: What are you doing?
[Global] Sangdanghan: What do you think
[Global] Sangdanghan: Payback
The moment that message hit, a blue projectile slammed into me. My dodge was still on cooldown—I juked as hard as I could, but it was no use. Must’ve been one of those unavoidable targeted skills.
My remaining HP evaporated instantly, the screen fading to grey. Groaning, my character collapsed, dropping—of all things—the staff.
[Global] Sangdanghan: ㅋㅋㅋㅋ gg
[Global] Ganbok: Okay enough playing around
[Global] Ganbok: Hurry up and revive himㅡㅡ;
Sangdanghan ignored his guildmate completely, strolling over to loot my staff.
[Global] Sangdanghan: What the hell
[Global] Sangdanghan: Thought this thing was trash
[Global] Sangdanghan: It’s Luck2? You’re using expensive shit huh
‘…Expensive?’
I definitely checked the auction house when I got that staff… Did I search wrong or something?
[Global] Sangdanghan: Should’ve joined our guild when I offered
[Global] Sangdanghan: Now look at you, all embarrassed
[Global] Sangdanghan: I’m keeping this staff, yeah?
“…Tch.”
[Global] Sangdanghan: Unless
[Global] Sangdanghan: You wanna join our guild now?
[Global] Sangdanghan: I’ll give the staff backㅋㅋㅋ
‘Why the hell do these assholes keep pushing this guild crap…’
Rubbing the back of my aching neck, I sighed and typed with a bitter smile.
[Global] ImSoSleepy: Suck my dick, you piece of shit
Hanging around dead meant more of this trash talk, so I ate the EXP and gold penalty and hit Respawn at Central City.
Reviving in the crowded main plaza, my character popped back with half HP—and empty hands. Losing that staff burned, my frustration boiling up inside.
Standing up, I stormed to the fridge, chugged half a liter of cold water straight down, then came back to my desk and stopped the recording.
Swallowing the lingering rage, I forced myself to calmly assess the situation. Right now, there was only one thing I needed to do—
‘Obviously, get my damn staff back, fuckers.’
Who the hell do they think they are, stealing my weapon? Especially if it’s expensive. I won’t feel better until I kill that Fever guild master and take it back.
[Yoo Jihan: Hey]
[Yoo Jihan: What’s Luck2?]
[Yoo Jihan: Explain]
I sent Kim Daeseok a PM, then flipped back to Zenoris and opened my friends list. My hand hovered briefly over the keyboard—but then moved decisively.
· Yoo Chae
Typed his name into the friend request window, and he popped onto my list. About a minute later, a notification pinged—Yoo Chae logged in, immediately spamming messages.
[Yoo Chae: Hyung?]
[Yoo Chae: Hyung, is that really you?]
[Yoo Chae: You sent the friend request first?]
“Sigh…”
Seeing him bouncing around excited like an idiot over a simple friend request made me exhale deeply. When I didn’t say anything, he fired off more PMs.
[Yoo Chae: What’s wrong?]
[Yoo Chae: Something happen?]
Gotta admit, his sense of timing’s sharp. Pressing my aching eyelids with my palm, I finally typed.
[ImSoSleepy: Hey]
[ImSoSleepy: I’m thinking of using you for something.]
