Harry Potter: The art of divination

Chapter 238: Choosing the right path

*Morpheus pov*

The trip back to Hogwarts was uneventful, to say the least. No words were spoken letting the silence stretch on.

I could feel the centaurs watching us from a distance they probably wanted to speak again but it would have to be later without Albus present.

"Have a good day Albus," I said with a small smile as we reached the castle once more

He nodded, "And you Morpheus." he left first journeying back to his office leaving me to my thoughts

A sigh escaped my lips I hate waiting. I either had to wait for Tom to attack in public or search him out which didn't seem too enticing.

The other pressing matter was my main enemies, what am I to do? They are the plenty and I am the few. I cannot hunt each down one by one while focusing here in Britain.

At the same time, I cannot leave Britain lest to lose control of my greatest assets. One of them being Voldemort himself.

For the first time in a while, I was unsure of the path I should follow. Which means more than ever I need to perform a divination.

Twisting I disappeared from the castle.

Stepping into my manor I quickly got to work plucking a key from one of my cabinets I walked into my ingredient room. Unlocking the leftmost door I took a jug from the bottom.

Careful not to open it I set it down on the desk that sat idly by the door, walking to the right I began snatching the fruits I kept in stock.

Frowning I double-checked the date to make sure I wasn't about to perform the wrong ritual. Sadly it has happened before with the clock bleeding into the next day.

Nodding I continued my work, many think strong divination rituals rely solely on ingredients.

The rarer the better they say.

Amateurs the lot of them. Some of the strongest visions ever seen have happened from common household items.

First I cut the dried fruit that has been aged and layered with magic since I put it into my stock. Then I moved on to the 'fresh' fruit. It was still aged but less so not dry but instead full of bitter magical juice.

Instead of cutting them, I crushed the fresh fruit into a cup until there was none left. Then I took some patet extract its use is to clear my eyes, then three drops of ignis, followed by one drop of dragon blood the only 'rare' ingredient needed.

Uncorking the jug I let the strong, fragrant smell of alcohol consume to room I worked in. It was overpowering far stronger than anything a normal man could drink it has been fermenting for years by now. Hence the ignis it will keep my blood in check and me from passing out.

First I dumped my dried fuirts and the smell intensified immediately turning fruity. It confirmed the spell was working. Then the juice and the smell roared almost making me dizzy I fear a man could walk into the room and be drunk. Finally, I added my extracts.

The jug felt heavy in my hands, its contents alive with potential. A deep breath steadied me as I tipped it toward my lips. The first sip was bitter, the alcohol scorching my throat, but I didn't stop. Each swallow burned, the flavor sharp and overwhelming as the fruits and herbs began their alchemy inside me. By the time I drained the jug, my hands were trembling, and my breath came in ragged gasps.

The vision hit me in waves, crashing over me with merciless force. At first it was my brother embracing me in a hug once more he was real flesh and blood and he was alive.

I saw a giant figure in the sky spewing lies and deceit swaying the masses with their honeyed words.

The scene shifted to war demons gods angels pouring into Earth spreading death wherever they stepped.

Then the most disturbing image yet I saw myself yet not who I am today. He was thin like me, but decidedly more inhuman something about him made my skin crawl and my heart break.

For I knew without a doubt it was the truth of what I will become.

My vision cleared and suddenly I knew I wont be able to wait for long. I must move now.

*narrator pov*

Morpheus's first stop was Nicolas's house, "My friend!" he said with cheer

Nicolas smiled thinly, "What do you want now?" he groaned

Morpheus kept his smile, "I want your assistance in designing several artifacts. They need to be able to project a wide image."

Nicolas quirked his brow, "Tell me more."

While Morpheus and Nicolas began designing something that would hopefully help in the near future, Tom or better yet Voldemort sat calmly in his office.

"Our recent raids have been successful my lord. Our moles inside the Aurors have managed to properly spread misinformation about our raids." Lord Lestrange said with a wide savage grin

Voldemort hummed, "Good very good. And how about you Fenrir?"

Fenrir shrugged, "Not much my people can do outside of the full moon we have joined some raids but I rather not lose any from my pack before you start your plan."

Voldemort grinned, "Good, the full moon is almost upon us, what more do you need. I will also be in the raid."

"As much information as you possibly can, we don't know much about the forbidden forest. If you can gather more about the creatures that live there it would be a great help." Fenrir replied after some thought

Voldemort nodded, "Very well, I will have as much information I can gather sent to you shortly. Now tell me about our recent loses in the Wizengamot I was under the assumption we had the votes."

Lord Mulciber winced, "We should have them but the grey have been fickle with their votes recently, and some houses typically with the dark are not voting like they are. Namely the Black family. I'm of the personal opinion this all started when Morpheus Everglade claimed his seat."

Voldemort frowned, "I thought I told you to take care of that rat."

Lestrange grimaced, "Its neigh impossibly my lord. He doesn't leave the bloody school, the only time he's in public is at the Wizengamot sessions. And to make matters worse no one knows hardly anything about the man."

Mulciber added, "And I hardly think one of our students can handle him."

Voldemort crossed his arms his eyes narrowing in thought, "Is it possible to get him as he is leaving the Wizengamot?"

Both of the Lords thought deeply.

"Yes." Lord Lestrange said a glint in his eyes, "It should be possible but our window will be narrow and the people we use to carry out the attack need to be expendable but able to get close to the doors without suspicion."

Voldemort cracked a smile, "Make a plan Lestrange and have it ready before the next session."
