Harem With Venom In Marvel/Dc

Chapter 169: Chapter 167: The Metal That Cannot Be Used

A portal suddenly opened in the Batcave.

"Little Red, that torch just now was so interesting! I want one too—it could even scream!" Harley said excitedly.

"That's not a toy," Pamela replied helplessly.

Dick and the others stumbled out, dazed, their eyes blank. They hadn't recovered from the scene they had just witnessed.

The red sky, the swarms of volcanoes, the medieval town, and the humanoid torch wailing in the town square—those images lingered hauntingly in their minds.

"Uncle... who exactly are you?" Dick asked hoarsely.

"I'm Chino. I'm Bruce's daughter's godfather, and also a demon lord of hell. You can just call me Godfather," Chino introduced himself.

"…"

Was this some kind of sci-fi movie? Why were mythical demon lords popping out and becoming their godfather?

"Where are Bruce and Alfred?" Tim asked expressionlessly.

"They went to celebrate his daughter's birthday. I honestly don't know where they are now."

"So Barbara wasn't done in by the Court of Owls?" Dick asked, twitching at the corner of his mouth.

"Nope. I had someone do it. She's lying in the House World right now. As compensation, I gave her a limb-regrowth serum. Once she wakes up, she'll be jumping around just fine."

"The stuff you said earlier about the Wayne family history and the first Batman was all fake, right?" Jason asked with a dark expression.

"No, most of it was true. Only the part about there being two Wayne families was fake. The first Batman was Bruce's grandfather, Richard Wayne. He became Batman to cover up his criminal deeds."

"Then what was the point of everything we did? You're so powerful—why drag us into this?" Oliver asked, covering his face in frustration.

"I was originally going to handle it myself. But I heard someone was gathering people to take me down, so I figured I'd have a little fun."

"…"

The three of them turned to look at Dick as if he were a dead man.

"I even enhanced all of you and gave you the enemy's weaknesses, and you still failed? Honestly, I didn't expect that," Chino said, looking at them with an expression that clearly said: Seriously? That's all you've got?

Three Robins plus one Green Arrow—each of them was the kind of character who could take on entire organizations in their own comics. Yet together, they still managed to fail.

"…"

They all looked at Dick again—he had been the first to screw up.

Dick said nothing. He knew this loss had been his fault.

After taking the enhancement serum, he gained immense power and took down dozens of Talons.

Though he kept reminding himself not to let his guard down, he couldn't help but become arrogant inside.

"With your performance, how can I possibly trust Gotham to you?" Chino said with disappointment.

"You're giving Gotham to us?" Dick and the others perked up immediately, asking with urgency.

"Bruce and I made an agreement. He would go celebrate his daughter's birthday, and I'd stay behind in Gotham as Batman. But the Court of Owls has already been destroyed, and now the Parliament of Owls still needs to be dealt with.

Aside from having fun, this was also a test—to see if one of you was worthy of taking up the mantle of Batman. But all of you failed. That means I'll have to continue as Batman. As for the Parliament of Owls… that'll have to wait until Bruce returns."

Chino's tone was heavy.

"No! Godfather, please give us another chance. I will prove that I can protect Gotham!" Dick said firmly, his eyes blazing.

"That's right—we can be Batman too!" Tim chimed in, full of hope.

"Without their dead weight, I can fight crime all on my own," Jason said, brimming with confidence.

The three Robins each harbored their own yearning to become Batman. Just like kids longing to grow up and be their dad—they wanted to inherit the responsibility of being Batman.

Chino looked into their determined eyes and hesitated.

"Fine. I'll give you one more chance. The three of you will become Batman together. Your success in fighting crime will determine the outcome. You have until Bruce returns."

"Yes!" they shouted in unison, eyes blazing with determination and a desire to redeem themselves.

Oliver looked at the three rookies getting "P.U.A.'d" by Chino but didn't dare say a word. He had no intention of finding out what it felt like to become a living torch.

Chino wasn't being lazy either.

It was just that his first wave of crackdown in Gotham had been so effective. By the next day, crime rates had plummeted. Even drug dealers were moving in secret, and muggers had to look both ways before attempting anything.

Batman had been too soft on them.

A hundred Batmen were overkill. So he kept three—along with Dick and the others, that made six. More than enough to protect Gotham.

He also planned to tour the DC world and deal with the Parliament of Owls.

After handing Gotham over to the Robins, Chino brought Venom, Pamela, and Harley to Challenger Mountain.

"Little Chichi, fly with me again!" Harley squealed, jumping onto Chino's back.

"Get off for now. I have business to take care of," Chino said, helplessly pulling Harley off.

The fun was over. Originally, he hadn't planned to bring her along, but Pamela liked her, so he let her tag along.

Activating his Super Vision, Chino scanned the entire mountain, layer by layer, until he locked onto a hidden area.

"Little Chichi, what are you looking at?" Harley suddenly appeared in front of him, her curiosity piqued.

A moving skeleton tilted its head at Chino.

He calmly deactivated his Super Vision.

"Nothing. Just looking for something."

He approached an ordinary mountain wall and punched a three-meter-high hole into it, revealing an elevator shaft.

"Let's go!" Chino leaped inside first.

Harley blinked a few times.

"Little Chichi, wait for me!" she shouted before jumping in as well.

Her body plummeted rapidly, her heart thumping wildly. The thrill of falling into death sent shockwaves through her nervous system, making her giddy.

Venom and Pamela exchanged glances.

"This girl is crazy," their expressions seemed to say as they jumped in after her.

Chino used his biological field to form a large transparent net, catching Harley, Venom, and Pamela as they fell.

"Hahaha! That was exhilarating! I love that feeling!" Harley said as she bounced off the soft net.

"You little maniac. You really jumped without a second thought. What if you'd died?" Chino said, annoyed.

"Little maniac? Is that your nickname for me? Die? If I died… would you cry for me, Little Red?" Harley said, hopping over to Pamela. She clearly cared more about Pamela's reaction than her own life.

"I would. So you must take care of yourself," Pamela said softly, stroking Harley's hair.

To her, this kind of disregard for one's own life, and obsession with others' approval, was a clear sign of lacking love.

"Okay! As long as it's your request, Little Red, I'll do it!" Harley said cheerfully.

Chino looked around the underground base. The silver-gray metal walls gleamed coldly.

On the ceiling was a golden owl emblem, and below it a mechanical control console. Buttons and indicator lights blinked rhythmically.

Chino approached a wall, shot heat vision from his eyes, and precisely cut a doorway. With a gentle push, the hidden room was revealed.

Inside were rows of tightly packed crates.

He opened one and found golden Nth Metal. His brows furrowed.

He opened more boxes to inspect.

The materials were genuine, but the metal carried a dark aura that would slowly corrode the mind and body of anyone who used it.

No wonder the Court of Owls had so much powerful metal, yet only used it to infect Bruce Wayne.

Ordinary people couldn't use it. Strong individuals didn't need it. And even if it boosted power, it would eventually turn the user insane.

It could only serve one purpose—acting as a bridge to communicate with the Dark Multiverse.

Quote of the Chapter:

"Not all power is a blessing—some is a curse wearing golden armor."
