Happry Potter: The New Player

Chapter 35: The Price of Defiance

"Why did you attack Harry with a bludger?" Evan inquired.

"What do you mean, Evan?"

Harry grew angry again, "Were you trying to kill me with the bludger?"

"He never meant to kill, sir," Dobby said. "Dobby was trying to save Harry Potter's life, it's better to be injured than to stay here."

"Dobby wanted to hurt you enough to make you go back home," Dobby said with a hint of fear. "But Dobby failed, Harry Potter's friend attacked Dobby with a spell, so Dobby had to stop the magic."

"Fortunately, Evan attacked you," Harry said angrily. "Otherwise, I would probably have been sent back home."

"If only Harry Potter knew," Dobby said, tears rolling down his face onto his ragged handkerchief. "If only he knew how much he means to our humble enslaved race in the magical world! Before the dark lord was defeated, house-elves were treated like pests."

Evan listened to Dobby and the tragedy suffered by house-elves, he felt terrible, also seeing Hermione's brow furrow even more.

"Of course, we are still mistreated," Dobby said as he wiped his tears with his handkerchief. "But overall, our lives have improved greatly since Harry Potter defeated the dark lord. This was a beacon of light in the darkness for those who thought the dark days would never end, Harry Potter shines like a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness."

"But is this how you thank your benefactor?"

"Harry Potter does not understand, terrible things are about to happen. Dobby cannot leave Harry Potter here because history will repeat itself now that the Chamber of Secrets is open again..."

"Did you say the Chamber of Secrets?" Harry and Hermione exclaimed in unison.

Then Dobby appeared on a desk and began inflicting pain on himself fiercely, but Evan soon stopped Dobby's self-harm.

"Bad Dobby, bad Dobby, very bad Dobby," Dobby murmured.

"How much do you know about what's in the Chamber of Secrets?" Hermione asked anxiously.

"Why am I in danger if I'm not from Muggle parents?" Harry asked.

"Dobby cannot say more, do not ask more, do not obsess over it," Dobby babbled.

"In summary, people are plotting, things that will endanger Harry Potter and his friends. Harry Potter should not stay here. Please, go home, Harry Potter! Go home, Harry Potter! You must not meddle in these matters, they are too dangerous!"

"Who opened the Chamber of Secrets? Who is plotting the conspiracy?"

"I cannot say more, absolutely cannot say more," Dobby shouted loudly. "Go home, Harry Potter, go home Harry Potter!"

"I cannot leave, I will stay here and not go anywhere. Two of my best friends are from Muggle parents, Evan and Hermione, and if the Chamber of Secrets is really open then they..."

"Harry Potter is willing to risk his life for his friends! How noble, how brave!" Dobby cried with sadness and joy, but he had to make Harry and his friends go home.

Suddenly, Evan had a bad feeling, he saw Dobby extend his finger, everything in the classroom trembled.

"What are you doing, Dobby?" Evan said as he drew his wand.

"Harry Potter and his friends must be sent home, even if Dobby is punished, I don't care," Dobby said as he moved his fingers forward, causing tables and chairs to fly towards the three of them.

It was truly spectacular, like arrows raining down.

"Protego!"

Evan's wand shot a red light that hit a table flying towards them, making it bounce back and crash.

— Do not just stand there, this is serious!

After hearing Evan, Harry and Hermione drew their wands and began casting spells.

But this did not work; over eighty chairs and tables were under Dobby's control; they were surrounded by them, the three young wizards casting spells couldn't even create a space to run away.

A few seconds later, the three were squeezed, gasping for air, the strain of casting so many spells was taking its toll on them, they seemed as though they had just finished running a marathon.

"Dobby, stop, you'll kill us," Hermione pleaded.

"Harry Potter must leave Hogwarts, there is no alternative to this," Dobby said as he looked at them with his big eyes, "Promise, sir, promise me you will leave, or you will be harmed and sent home."

Evan never imagined Dobby's request would be so dire. He had no doubt that when Harry refused, the tables and chairs would fly towards them and hit them the next second.

If you get hit, it's not as simple as getting hurt.

"He's crazy, what should we do?"

"This is the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, maybe Professor Lockhart will hear the noise and come running to help us," Hermione said hopefully.

"I prefer Snape!"

"Please, go home, Harry Potter. You cannot stay at Hogwarts this year because of the plot," Dobby said once again sharply.

"Damn, who orchestrated this plot? Who let this crazy house-elf out?" Harry gasped.

Evan had a brilliant idea and shouted, "It's Malfoy, it's Lucius Malfoy who sent you, isn't it?"

All the tables and chairs crashed to the ground with a loud noise; Evan's words seemed to have scared Dobby.

"Do not mention the master's name, Dobby revealed the master's family secret, Bad Dobby, bad Dobby!"

Dobby took a chair and started hitting himself intensely with it, then disappeared from the sight of the three.

Evan, Harry, and Hermione glanced at each other before hastily leaving the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom before Dobby could return.
